I love music and have always wanted to go to a concert at the London 02 Arena in Greenwich or Wembley Stadium, but for one reason or another, something always comes up and I don't book the tickets (the last big concert I went to was Gloria Estefan!)

Well, last month I discovered tribute bands! Now I know a lot of people pull a face when you say the word 'tribute' but the tickets were cheap and it was my husband and my youngest daughter's birthday and they both like Bon Jovi, so we went to see 'The Bon Jovi Experience'.

Well they turned out to be fantastic! They looked and sounded very much like the original group and although the crowd was small, they still put on a brilliant show.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that I checked and discovered that U2-2 (another tribute band) were playing at the same theatre this month and went to see them on Thursday.

Again the crowd was small (the theatre doesn't advertise well enough ) But I booked the same seats as the previous month's (front row, dead centre - about 6 feet from the stage).

Again the band were fantastic! Authentic in both look and sound and the lead singer came down and walked through the crowd, singing with us and getting everybody to join in. I had a brilliant evening and have checked to discover that next year, a Queen and Beatles trib band are also playing at the same venue...

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to hear about your most memorable concerts/gigs i.e. did they meet your expectations, did you get good seats or were you disappointed with their performance? Any groups/bands you would recommend seeing and has anyone else seen any great tribute bands?

Em x

What covers do you do and do you ever come down south?

Did Oasis sound good live? Their attitude and swaggering always puts me off, even though I like their music.

The Attitude and swagger is part of the Appeal , its only Rock and roll Em , but we like it !!

We do modern covers , KOL , snow patrol , Killers etc.

we go as far south as Durham , but were on O`neils Irish bars national list of Artists so we might be playing down south very soon !!

you would love the north east , it has a superb live music scene !

i am a personal friend of Lady ga ga ( not the real one lol ) xx

Soooo jealous. I missed out on those tickets by like 5 minutes. :(
You seeing them at the metro arena?

Best band live I've seen is Kasabian

Most disappointing were Oasis

Most eagerly anticipated is Foo Fighters next year! :D

i dont get kasabian at all , all about taste i guess , love the foos !!

Yeh funny how some bands you get into more than others, I don't get kings of leon at all......I do have quite a varied taste mind you....seen Neil diamond twice! :D

Where did you see them? - I have to see kasabian live!!!
Top of my list is Muse though - they're one of my favourites right now.

Saw them at Sheffield arena last year .....absolutely fab!

Not been to the O2 yet, my daughter went to see beyonce there last year she said it was amaaaaaaaaazing !! (as only an 11yr old can say) :D

I grew up on Neil Diamond and Barry Manilow, Neil Sedaka...

I love the Foos! But I would like to see them at an intimate gig rather than a concert I think - I love it when Dave does his acoustic sets :D

Saw Linkin Park at O2 a few weeks ago and it was easily one of my best ever gigs - up there wih Manic Street Preachers at Brixton Academy ~1996.

Must have seen Stiff Little Fingers about 10 times and they usually rock (but maybe an acquited taste)

Was at the mega Oasis Knebworth House gig 1996 which was an experience and then saw No Way Sis opening at V the next year lol

Got tickets for Iron Maiden at O2 next year to maintain the current trend of one decent concert per annum whereas when I lived in South London I was at the Brixton Academy as often as I could get tickets there for whoever!

*gets the rose tinted specs out*

I saw T-Rexstacy who were great-their lead singer was so like Marc Bolan-apparently he lived "in character" most of the time

Haven't been to a concert for years! One of the best was Prince years and years ago-most disappointing was probably Primal Scream at Rock City

Seen Paul Weller about half a dozen times though:D

The Beautiful South were always entertaining and Crowded House's farewell tour was emotional

When I was a teenager I saw them all Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Depeche Mode, Siouxie and the Banshees, Japan-the good effect of my cousin living close to Pompey Guildhall :D

Last gig I think I went to was Phoenix at the Camden Roundhouse, really good gig. As for the O2 saw the Pet Shop Boys there a couple of years ago -- that was absolutely fantastic and of course came complete with about 27 costume changes...

Still have good memories of gigs in Nottingham back in the day... Pop Will Eat Itself, Skunk Anansie, Elastica... lots of good nights out :D

You didn't see Spear of Destiny did you? everyone who ever spent any time in Nottingham saw Spear at some point even though they were shite:rolleyes::D

One of my first ever gigs - not a lot of 'big' acts played in NI during the 70s/80s but managed to see them, the Stranglers, Echo and the Bunnymen and a few others

Do you believe in the Westworld?? :D

I am a huge Linkin Park fan and would have loved to have seen them live. Also, I was a massive Prince fan and when I was a teenager, loved Adam and the Ants, Level 42, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys...

I've booked tickets to go and see The Bootleg Beatles on 12th March with John...We looked up the Queen trib band but John wasn't keen.

I've seen a few Queen tribute acts and they range from decent to dire!

Bjorn Again were brilliant when I saw them - had the place in stitches and everyone dancing in their seats/aisles etc. That was about 15 years ago so no idea of they're still going or any good these days

1. Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood in the front row

2. James Taylor (HUGE fan) he played a song FOR me

3. Phish with a surprise visit from B.B. King
