I love music and have always wanted to go to a concert at the London 02 Arena in Greenwich or Wembley Stadium, but for one reason or another, something always comes up and I don't book the tickets (the last big concert I went to was Gloria Estefan!)
Well, last month I discovered tribute bands! Now I know a lot of people pull a face when you say the word 'tribute' but the tickets were cheap and it was my husband and my youngest daughter's birthday and they both like Bon Jovi, so we went to see 'The Bon Jovi Experience'.
Well they turned out to be fantastic! They looked and sounded very much like the original group and although the crowd was small, they still put on a brilliant show.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that I checked and discovered that U2-2 (another tribute band) were playing at the same theatre this month and went to see them on Thursday.
Again the crowd was small (the theatre doesn't advertise well enough
) But I booked the same seats as the previous month's (front row, dead centre - about 6 feet from the stage).
Again the band were fantastic! Authentic in both look and sound and the lead singer came down and walked through the crowd, singing with us and getting everybody to join in. I had a brilliant evening and have checked to discover that next year, a Queen and Beatles trib band are also playing at the same venue...
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to hear about your most memorable concerts/gigs i.e. did they meet your expectations, did you get good seats or were you disappointed with their performance? Any groups/bands you would recommend seeing and has anyone else seen any great tribute bands?
