Rejected for spelling

I have just joined the site for writing but have been reading from the site for years, I keep getting rejected for spelling errors but I use Literotica's spell checker and it is say that everything is typed correctly. I don't mind that it gets rejected for I much prefer a story that doesn't sound like a four year old wrote it, I guess i'm just confused as to why it's getting rejected when the spell checker is say everything other than slang that is in "" is correctly spelled. Now I have been reading from this site for years and I have came across stories that my 5 year old could do better on in the spelling department but they make it on the site anyhow. So I guess my question is is the spell checker bugged? I know I'm no scholar by far, but I thought I could spell better then that. Any suggestions?

Can't really tell without looking at the story--and the exact wording of the rejection notice. Even my stories with dialect get through without a problem.

It would just be spinning wheels to play the guessing game on this without more specific information.

If you truly think the spelling is fine (and it doesn't have to be perfect), refile with a note in the notes box of the submission that you have confirmed the spellings. This at least will make sure a human editor reviews the submission and it isn't just being rejected by the computer scanner.

There you go. That's a generous offer--and someone really has to look at it to be sure what the problem is. All sorts of misspellings get through to publication here, so there must be something particularly hanging this one up.

I'd offer, but I'm clearing the decks for loooooong roadtrip.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't know that it was automated, was wondering how it was edited without anyone viewing the submission but that explains a lot.

I'll take you up on that Misty, now stupid question... how do I go about sending you my story so you are able to proof it?

If NM doesn't respond, I will take a look at it. Turn your "pm's" (private messages) on, and "pm" me, and I send you my email. That is how NM will have to do it also.

If you don't know how to turn on your "pm" 's, go to the User Control Panel (User CP), and you can do it from there.

Yes, if you turn your PM's on then I can send you my e-mail address. Also depending on how long the story is, you can send it via PM to me. However you have to turn your PM's on first. :D

Borrowed from snooper:
Please ensure that you have switched on your Private Messages. Go to User CP (top left of this page) then click on Edit Options (in the left hand column) and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the next box down (Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators) is NOT ticked. Finally click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.

A story will be rejected for spelling if an entire sentence is written in caps. A while back, I edited a story which contained a few lines quoted from a text message. The writer put the entire message in caps and the story was returned for "excessive misspelling". She rewrote the text messages in regular grammar and it was accepted.

Not necessarily. I have an angry god's voice thundering at one of my characters in a story. It's not only all in caps, but bolded as well. Went through without a hitch the first time, and the second when I edited the chapter to clean up some things before launching the sequel.

Ditto. I've got deity dialogue in all caps too. Went right through.
