Prop 8 ruled Unconstitutional!

Youre simply afraid to contemplate the unintended consequences of same-sex marriages.

I don't have to comtemplate those consequences. The court already has. Forty pages of factual findings soundly rejected those so-called consequences.

Again, i urge you to read the entire opinion before you try to analyze it. By definition, you absolutely do not know what you are talking about.

My druthers dont matter; but most Americans dont want same-sex marriage, and if the court lets it fly there will be political consequences for the Democrats. There aint no getting around it, there will be blood on Sesame Street.

Most Americans don't want to mow the grass either, but it happens every damn day anyway. get over it.

Just because most Americans want something doesn't make it constitutional. If the courts did what most Americans wanted, then interracial marriage wouldn't have been legal until the mid-80s.

And why will there be political consequences for the Dems? W appointed Judge walker, and Republicans have appointed most of the Supreme Court Justices.

Dubya's father appointed Judge Walker. See, your facts arent even correct.

At any rate, we'll see how it shakes out, but dont expect to be a happy camper down the road.

I expect the Supremes will leave same-sex marriages up to the States to wrestle with. So you'll likely have to move to Massachusetts, wontcha!

Sorry, HW. Doesn't change my point. Nor have you put forward one sound argument against gay marriage on constitutional grounds. Gays deserve equal protection and due process as much as you do, but the truth is you don't give a shit about Gays or the constitution.

This isnt about cosmic justice, its about what the folks want. Its raw politics.

No, I dont give a shit about gays. I have a problem with how all of them politicize their sexual preference, and I've adopted the same attitude. Fuck them when I can. It aint personal, its bizness.

Interracial marriage was a state matter-- until the federal government took it out of state jurisdiction. Even though many citizens of Utah would like to allow polygamous marriages, the federal government won't let them. The feds will not extend federally guaranteed benefits to the marriages that Massachusetts has sanctioned.

The truth is, marriage is NOT a matter of state's rights. The states just get to sell the licenses.

Nothing that entails constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights can be left to state-by-state definition.

Fucking them whenever you can sort of makes you one of them, you know?

And, exactly what business are you in? Rentboy?

Oh, and Elena Kegan just got nominated to the Supreme Court.

(Has JBJ's head exploded yet? I love giving him good news)

Dear Reader,

STELLA "I WANNA BE A REAL BOY!" PINOCCHIO thinks that whatever she imagines can be real if she insists on it and wishes on stars. In the meantime I aint betting on her winning any pissing contests (wink).

Marriage isn't a private contract between two people. It's a PUBLIC contract between two people and the government, which can be parsed down to government and man, and government and woman, the example being one partner dies and their government pension and social security goes to the living partner in the contracted partnership. There are countless examples of government granting partnerships between two private citizens, such as LLCs.

The only difference with marriage is whether or not one contract can be between two men or two women. That's where Civil Rights Act is stretched to accommodate gays. Done deal, gays marry. Then it's time to stretch Civil Rights act to accommodate marriages between 3, 5, 69, 200 people :) Marriage shouldn't be recognized by government to begin with, 'bout time to do something about that.[/

You craft an argument to support your own opinion...that doesn't make you all bad, everyone does so.

You forgot, however, the main, fundamental and basic reason why the State and the Courts became involved in the marriage contract...and that is the children produced from that union between a man and a woman.

Nothing else is of import.

Homosexuality is a minority aberration in a society that went through a sexual revolution, what with emancipated and independent women, supported by government, that has exploded into a national controversy. Homosexuality is also the transition stage between both a patriarchal society and an industrial economy that is transitioning into a service economy wherein masculine strength and endurance is no longer the deciding factor in the labor market.

Just where it will go from here is anybody's guess; but the certainty is that it will not remain the same.

That argument was thoroughly explored in the trial and found to be a baseless assumption. The defendants couldn't defend it.

wow... Impressively tautological!

The single Judge that rendered the decision is Gay, what the hell else did you expect him to say?

Get real!

Peggy Noonan has an excellent op-ed piece in the WSJ today.

She says adult-Americans are about to boil-over from all the lawyers playing with the dials.

So here's my solution:

Make life hell for the special people whose lawyers keep the pot boiling in your state. Encourage them to take a bus and their issues to another state where the Usual Suspects relish poverty and drug addictions and evil and bizarre. Then offer asylum to the adult-Americans in the Usual-Suspect enclaves.

Reading the decision now.

No ambiguity. Proposition 8 has been struck down and the language of the decision clearly states that such a proposition is beyond the reach of the voters or their representatives.

The fight isn't over yet...far from it. Keep your fingers crossed for the Supreme Court ruling (whenever that may happen....)

Have you read the transcripts of the trial? The defense was absolutely pitiful.

And I say that as someone who was pretty damn nervous about the money and firepower they could have had at their disposal

The defense threatened to have hundreds of expert witnesses, but managed to come up with three, one of whom admitted that marriage is highly beneficial to same-sex couples and their children, and that the worst problems children face is the stigma and insecurity that comes from knowing their parents are not allowed to be married.

He couldn't really put a finger on any social benefits to denying marriage rights to gays and lesbians.

Seriously, the defense won this case for us.

I would give you a link to the transcripts, but the only one I can find is from one of those hateful liberal newspapers. I'm not surprised, frankly. I don't think the anti crowd want to publicise the truth about this case very much.

Walker sided with every gay plaintiff who ever came before his court for any reason. Check his record.
