The Constitution says that we all have equal protection under the law.
The Supreme Court ruled in Loving v Virginia that marriage is a basic civil right.
Case closed. Gay Marriage is legal.
It is not too often I smile over political stuff, but this decision did.
I need to call my cousin and ask how she is feeling right now.

Really? I pretty much never stop laughing at US politics.
Dude! You have a queen.
Dude! You have a queen.
I know! That always cracks me up when Brits try to school me about how fucked up America is.
Oh, I laugh at ours too. And Liz pretty much has fuck all to do with politics.
Could be worse. Thatcher could be in office again...
A openly gay judge strikes down the will of the people of California.

I'm sure this will both please and annoy a lot of people..
It's really incontestable, unless of course, one is an activist. Whether one chooses to think it's right and moral or not is a mater of personal preference. But the law is obviously constitutional as long as it's a state law.

If the state creates a legal union which two people can enter into giving them certain legal privileges, then, under the US Constitution, it can no more specify what sex they have to be than it can specify what race they have to be.It's really incontestable, unless of course, one is an activist. A openly gay judge strikes down the will of the people of California. Let's see if Democrat Jerry Brown the big gay supporter takes it to the Supreme Court or lets it stand.
Slowbrain, are you of the opinion that homosexuality is a choice?
Public opinion on prop-8 was strongly in favor of allowing gay marriage. Then 50 million dollars of out-of-state money led by the Mormons poured in and flooded the airwaves with hateful, distorted ads. Anyone remember the commercials saying that unless gay marraige was banned that your kid's teacher was going to teach your son or daughter HOW TO BE GAY?
That's literally what they said. That and worse things. Then opinion changed a few points.

I had a great essay bookmarked to counter the Vettebigot's "gay marriage leads to polygamy! and bestiality! and polygamous bestiality!" rants. I suppose I better re-check the link while waiting for the General Board's most notorious homophobe's inevitable commentary.
And in all fairness, do not forget that the "50 million dollars of out-of-state money led by the Mormons" was matched by 40 millions in opposition to the proposition (actually 43 millions against 39). Or did that not fit into your narrative?
