The Authors' Hangout National Nude Day Support Thread

Beach Surprise (Exhibishion & Voyeur) is holding strong at a 4.35 with 113 votes and 51,165 views. Overall I'm happy with this, as I've had fun here on the boards and have gained confidence in my writing ability. Good luck everyone else.

Oh, hey! I read Beach Surprise. Good stuff. You have every reason to be confident.

I'm impressed at the number of really good stories for this contest. But I'm a bit surprised that I went up 3000 views and no votes. It would be nice, good or bad, to see what they thought, particularly since it's a "contest.|"

What's your story title? I'll read/vote/review it.

I liked your story Tio. It was cute and comical :)

Great attitude Sassy! and you should be happy and proud; you have a great story that at least this reader enjoyed very, very much! I am glad it boosted your confidence as well as I am excited to read your next work! Stay off the word chain and write girl! Just kidding;) I'll gladly take you on anytime over there!

I'm stuck at another block on the new story :( The story itself spans over a few days and I always get stuck on how to approach the beginning of the new day. I'll eventually figure out what fits with what has occurred and what is about to occur. I do need to get it finished though. I can't move on to another story until I finish the one I'm working on. Ok....back to work! ;)

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES: All submissions must be stand-alone stories created for this contest theme. We will not accept individual chapters of a larger work submitted separately. If you have a multi-chaptered contest-themed submission, please submit all chapters together as one story submission.

Is Daniella Defiled SIMPLY CHAPTER 2 OF Daniella Bound and hence not eligible to be in this contest?

I read the two tonight (not the most enticing of tasks – I’m not into BDSM) and can’t for the life of me see how any bizarre interpretation of the rules could allow it to stay in the contest.

Here’s how Daniella Bound ends: Daniella drew up close to him and took both his hands, meeting his gaze squarely. There was a tremble in her lower lip that wasn't entirely affected. 'Then finish what you started,' she said. 'Fucking defile me.'

The weekend stretched out before them, a broad vista of wild possibility. Eric Lehane and Daniella Blanchford looked deep into each other's eyes and smiled.

Do you realize just how boring you are?

I do agree with what Jim posted above. It's not whether you like Jim or not but his assessment makes sense.

Category is the biggest decider of votes.
Title and subject line is next.
Name recognition is also good but Some days of getting posted is better than others. Around holidays, not so good. Mid week, not as good as weekend. You may submit on one day but it might not get posted when you would like.

Of course contest stories are usually posted next day, a little control of posting day for the author.

Bottom line is write your story. Submit it and hope the readers read it. There is no sure fire answer for a lot of reads, votes and comments. I will say that incest and loving wives will get you comments but they might not be of the kind you would prefer.

So, just write your story to the best of your ability, get it edited for errors if possible and hope for the best. Just have fun!
With respect
DG Hear

And all of this bullshit is why I keep my voting and comments turned off. I don't care. I write simply because I enjoy writing. I don't want comments. I don't want votes. I don't want to be favorited.

Too many writers worry about what will get them votes, and reads. Write well and they will read.

It appears to be a continuation, however it also can stand alone as its own story. I think that's the aim with the rule of no chapters.

Anyway not that it matters. If Laurel deems it disqualified because of that, then it is. No point in posting multiple times that he's a rulebreaker, because, frankly, I don't think anyone cares except you.

It's a stand alone story, and is qualified for entry into this contest.

I put mine up for votes, DK, not because I want or expect to "win," but because it was my first time entering a contest here and I wanted to give the readers a chance to voice their opinions.

I wrote the story expressly for the theme, however, and that was the challenge I'd like people to respond to. It's easy to have an erotic story involve nudity; I wanted to wriote one that tiede explicitly into the idea of "Nude Day."

I often use dreams to separate days. It can be a good way to put in important information without giving too much away or being Mrs Exposition, or it can be a way to include scenes that aren't feasible within the real world of your story, but you still want to write out for your audience. It's quite useful, I find.

Thanks for the tip! I'll take it into consideration :)

DK I am sorry but I don't totally agree with you on this. Votes is one thing as that is very arbitrary and impossible to rationalize completely. But comments is a whole different issue.

I too write here simply because I enjoy writing, but I have been a professional writer my whole life and in the journalistic trade you get very sketchy feedback at best and never timely.

This place absolutely amazes me in the built-in ability for readers and writers to connect in a multiple of means and forums almost instantly. Favouriting empowers the readers.

Yes, write well and they will read, but I love to hear about it and discuss it post writing with my audience. I don't really give a shit about my vote score or view total. I would rather have one moved reader than a hundred causal readers. I love to hear about the experiences of other writers. The camaraderie between readers and writers and writers with writers gives me almost as much a buzz as finishing a work that I am proud of. Sure I get paid a hell of a lot more on my other writing but the feedback/conversations here more than make up for it. I am enjoying this a lot more than my other work no question.

Not being an ass and I mean the question honestly because from what I read of you I like you and I really want to continue to hear from you but I want to give you something to think about - if you don't want a reader's feedback why do you when you read give feedback?
If this upsets you, please PM me as I would love to damage control or fix things as you are a very valued member of this place and for me.

We do write but we are human and should seek human companionship, And what better place than where we all share the same interests?

Good question. I don't leave much feedback, and I rarely vote. Only in the contests will I vote. I realize not everyone is like me, and most people want to hear from the readers. About the only time I'll leave a comment is during a contest.

And those who you do leave feedback for greatly appreciate it! Thanks :)

But DK, you are a reader as well! Because you are not like everyone else is exactly why it is all the more important to hear from you personally!

Trust me, I would value any comment you would have on a piece of mine. Comment away and don't be surprised when I respond back as to me that is what this place is all about!

I thought I had read yours and commented on it. Did I miss your story?
