Recent strings of less than "filling" books had me scurry to find novels out of my popular science genre "hangout." I am in dire need for something good, something new, a "pick me up" from the recent ho-hums I've had to crawl to the finish line.

Right now I am in the mood to read something a la the movie Memento: a book told from the protagonist's perspective but a lot more twisted and gritty; something that offers a per view glimpse of a mind descending to madness. I want to "hear" the bad guy's internal dialogue as he is about to or as he is doing something sick. He he he.

I don't care for political correctness, about character redemption or any of that -- I want to be shocked and piqued up! LOL!

check out unshelved.com -- it is a site aimed at librarians, but thre's a ton of book reviews and I've found a couple there worth a look; I haven't gotten more than a dozen pages into the first off that list yet, so I can't recommend any of them first hand.
