Is eHow the most worthless resource on the Internet?

I have some friends who write content for that business and a few others like it. They dig through the most commonly asked search questions and pay writers to write a page on the topic hopefully answering the query. They make maybe 7 or 15 dollars per article. Whereby the site directs traffic and gets the ad revenue.

Of the dozens of articles I've read on the site none answer the question posed in any competent way. The 'writers' gather their information from Wikipedia and present the answers as if they're an expert in the field. I know a few writers here do freelance, and possibly deal with the Associated Content and so on. Is there any value, any defense of this business practice? Providing contentless content.

This is pretty common: http://www.ehow.com/how_2193015_enjoy-superbowl-as-couple.html

so it's valuable if you get paid-- worthless if you need help.

No different from any other "service provider" business.

some eHow stuff actually is worthwhile. Usually minor things, but still... I should go look and see if I can find a specific example.

This could be very good information for someone that was being told by a mechanic that they "had to fix this." Even if all it did was reassure them about the validity of the repair.

I've been offered the chance to write some actually, but have yet to get an assignment that didn't involve financial management, which I don't really want to right about. Too easy to say the wrong thing and have somebody get fucked over by my mistake.

Your and your forward looking disclaimers, blah, blah blah. Lets just get drunk...:D

Every now and a rare then, you will find something useful there. But, there is a good deal of fluff on eHow's site. Hell, though, it's like that on the Internet. You have to weed through the crap and look for the gold.

ehow is often pretty worthless on the majority of topics. I'd put it up there with Yahoo answers; sometimes you can get the info you're looking for, but it's hardly better than a google search in most instances.

Fuck this shitbag stock market. I'm sick of not making free money gambling on the prospects of half-fictional companies.
