ICT I hate funerals. I think they're barbaric. When my time comes, I want a party. People will mourn my passing in their own way and in their own time. I'd rather have my life celebrated than people being forced to grieve for me during a funeral. But that's just me.

ICT I couldn't agree more!!! We had such a great memorial for my dad. At first people were a bit taken aback in the extended family (very Catholic) that there would be no funeral or mass and that my brother in law (a minister - and a "off shoot" Christian church at that - the horror!!) was doing the service. It was perfect - dad would have loved it. Lots of story telling and laughing. There were tears, but that's natural.
Sometimes you have to make your own excitement, not wait for it to approach you. I've learned to do that, being alone for a long time. Find some passion in your life. It was similar when my sister's husband passed away. We threw a party in his honor; there was food, people laughing and telling stories..... it was a fitting send off for the man. I know he would've approved. That is exactly what I want when it's my turn.
