Hi everyone! It's time for the next spotlight thread and this time the light's on midwestyankee!

Are you still writing? What genre? From where do you draw your inspiration?

It'll be nice to see you here, Sir P. Missed seeing you. :rose:

I write every day but these days it's almost exclusively writing for my work. It's mostly rather dull stuff to train people how to do their own jobs. My inspiration comes from my mortgage bill.

Thanks, BG. :rose:

oh my! oh my! free reign on asking Yank questions. I'm going to have to give this some thought.

ok...thinking....thinking....

where does your interest in BDSM come from?

where does your interest in food come from?

if all of the constraints of real life weren't an issue, where would you like to live?

oh and what's your favourite colour?

An observant friend once said to me, "It's all about control with you, isn't it?" From there it wasn't far to finding that a friend who needed to explore her desire to submit was willing to do some exploration with me.

My mother was - and still is - a marvelous cook. She encouraged me to try new things but it was her enthusiasm for new foods that helped me become a foodie. Then, in college, I had a roommate who introduced me to the wonders of ethnic cuisines. When I moved to Chicago, with its ten zillion ethnic restaurants, I knew that I had found my Mecca.

I'd like to live in a city rowhouse. I'd want one room to be set up as a playspace/dungeon and the rest of the place would be outfitted in cleanly designed, well-built furniture. The city almost doesn't matter, though Boston and Chicago are the two places that I know for certain I'd enjoy. I'm tired of living in the suburbs now.

thanks...and another if I might.

How did you find Lit? stories or forums first?

my turn

I'm with BG, it is really nice to see you round these parts, Yank.

Hmmmm, favorite meal you have ever eaten? (What was it, where was it, whose company was it in?)

If you could have dinner with any person in history, who would it be and why? What would you want to ask that person?

When you write, what do you write with? On the computer, pen and paper, or my personal favorite, red crayon and any handy flat surface?

Know any good restaurants in Boston or South of Boston? I'm headed up there this weekend to see my favorite chef, my little brother. I'd go to his but it is in Montana.

What is your favorite color to see a woman dressed in?

What is your favorite body part to look at on a woman? to touch?

Okey dokey, will probably be back with more questions later. Just be glad I haven't hit you with the lunch meat one yet. :D

I have had so many simply fantastic meals over the years. How to pick just one? I guess I'll lean on an old favorite: dinner with my two roommates and my then fiancée at Le Français near Chicago (which, sadly, is no longer in operation). At the time, Le Français was the only restaurant in the United States with the maximum number of stars from Michelin. I don't recall all the dishes (this was in 1977, after all) but my entrée was Saumon en Croûte (salmon stuffed with lobster and baked in a pastry shell). The meal was absolutely perfect in every possible way.

Hands down, I would dine with Abraham Lincoln. He was a terrific story teller and I would love to ask him to re-tell a few of his favorite stories from his time working as a lawyer in Illinois.

I generally write at the computer, though sometimes if I have lots of text to edit I will do that with pen and paper.

In Boston, one of my favorites is the No Name Restaurant on Fish Pier Street. In fact, I'll be having lunch there this weekend as long as our plane gets us into town on time.

Every woman looks best in her own best color. I am a firm believer in the Color Me Beautiful system of matchaing clothing colors to the person's skin tone, eye shade, and hair color.

My favorite woman's body part is the ass, for a variety of reasons. Not only is it shaped sensually so that it is visually appealing clothed and naked, but it can be a lovely target for my belt or crop. And then there's the added delight of being able to use the ass for fucking as well. All in all, the ass is a very versatile body part.

I don't do lunch meat.

What? We can ask sex questions! Off to a Xmas party. Let me come back after a few glasses of wine and ask some.

Just remember that the legal limit for asking questions of the Yankster is .010% blood alcohol percentage. :p

Enjoy your party, ww....and give Santa an extra ass wiggle if you get to sit in his lap.

You've done some teaching in the past, haven't you? What's your best (or worst) student story?

I'll share a couple. I taught American literature to juniors in high school for a couple years. The school where I taught was located in one of the wealthiest suburbs of Chicago. Even in the early 1990s, when I was there, many of the homes around the school cost over $1 million.

One day, we were talking about Emerson's belief that most of us have many things that we really do not need. Now this is not a terribly controversial belief, though it's fair to say that Emerson had a stricter interpretation of it than most. So students are coming at me with variations on the theme that yes, the old boy was right, when this one young gal decided to speak her mind. She's wearing a silk blouse and a silk blazer that probably cost almost as much as my monthly mortgage payment at the time and I know that she'd just returned from a family vacation at their condo in Phoenix. Her statement: "I do not own a single thing that I do not need." I'm still grateful that the bell to end class rang almost immediately because it gave me cover to pick my jaw up off the floor while the herd poured out of the classroom.

One of my favorite juniors asked me if I thought that she might enjoy going to my alma mater for college. It seemed like a good fit for her so we had a long conversation after class about college and her interests. In that chat, I mentioned that when I visited the school as a high school senior, I had been lucky enough to sit in on a class by a gifted teacher of American literature. In that class he had related a story from the previous year, when he had been able to see from his apartment window in Ann Arbor, MI the flames of the riots in Detroit following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. A few weeks later, she dropped by for an after-school chat to tell me about visiting my college over the spring break. She, too, had sat in on the very same professor's class and - yep - he told that same story during the class she visited! We both had a good laugh over that but she also went on to attend that college.

One more, because I'm feeling generous. The day after the fall of the Berlin wall we chucked the lesson plan to talk about the news of the day. Not long into the discussion, one young woman began to sob a bit and asked to speak. She was an immigrant from Israel, but before that she and her family had lived in the Soviet Union. Her father, a Ph.D. electrical engineer, worked as a car mechanic here because his academic credentials weren't accepted by local engineering firms. Anyway, she talked for almost the entire class period about how difficult her life had been before they left the Soviet Union for Israel and how her father had cried like a baby while watching the CNN coverage of the fall of the wall.

That would be easier for me if I knew how many glasses of wine I was allowed to have...but I think I'm under the limit...and if I try really really hard not to make any typos maybe you won't know how many drinks I had.

Thanks, I did enjoy it. ah no Santa...was technically a 'holiday' party not a Xmas party. I got a cute special award but in my acceptance speech I forgot to wiggle my ass. Next time.

ok...sex. let me think....

Do you have a preference for stingy or thuddy floggers? (Yeah ok, technically it's not a sex question, but in my personal experience the flogging was always followed by sex, so it's kind of...)

Do you think you'd enjoy sex with more than one person at a time? Take your pick in which sex the combo is made of.

I recall some of your views on love (from that great 'defining love' thread I think it was called) but what are your thoughts on polyamory?

You're back, eh? I see the wine didn't dull your sense of humor. Let me see what I can do to reply.

I honestly don't have a whole lot of experience with floggers. However, that said, I like the tension created by the sensuality of soft play with the falls drawn slowly across the body opposed by the rough punishment of a full swing of the flogger. For that reason, I'm partial now to a small flogger I bought recently that has both soft and firm falls. The soft ones could be rabbit fur and they feel delicious gliding across the skin. When it's swung with intensity, though, it can hurt quite a bit.

I enjoyed a marvelous FMF threesome several years ago. I would do another, with equally compatible and caring partners, in a heartbeat.

Polyamory is a wild new world in which much is asked of everyone. I read Homburg's posts about his triad relationship and I'm in awe of the relationship-building skills and communication skills that it must take to make that work. I'm sure plenty of guys fantasize about having sexual access to more than one woman at a time, but it takes a lot of energy to care deeply for more than one person. It's not for the merely horny, that's for sure.

How is it possible that you wouldn't recognize the Sun Maid broad if she walked up and offered to suck your dick?

Have you ever done your own grocery shopping, or did this chore pass directly from your mom, to campus cafeteria ladies, to the Mrs.?

I have done my family's grocery shopping solo for over 30 years. I have just never been interested in buying brand-name staples such as raisins so I honestly did not know what the Sun Maid gal looked like until I clicked through to the article that Keroin linked.

On the product packaging, she actually doesn't look like either of the images at Keroin's link.

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even know they made generic raisins. The raisin section at the store I frequent is dominated by the image below.

yank, a few questions:

11. do you have the time to recount your most recent foodie adventure? :>
12. when you do: please do so. :D
13. do you anticipate making another trip out east in the near-term?
14. b/c i tend not to frequent the BDSM forum: is it a lack of interest, time or both that we don't see you in HT these days?
15. i don't know how much you care, but given what you said of the weather: boxer briefs are both comfy and very warm. :>
