I haven't lost it.

My humor might seem a little darker these days, or maybe the darkness of it is less detectable as humor now that Obama is President.

I thought my post about ASLV was funny. If you're secure in your beliefs as you seem to be, you should have thought it funny, too. Maybe you're not so sure?

But I do know that when Bush was President, and I trashed him, the "libs" of the board were all great with it. Now, though, to speak anything other than approval of the great Obama brings the wrath of the water-wingers from the shallow end of the pool, who splash around and throw water-balloons toward the deep end. As one not politically aligned, what am I supposed to do? The Congress and the Executive are both controlled by Democrats. Should I make fun of the powerless monsters and ignore the powerful ones? That's not going to happen.

But, maybe you're taking me as more serious than I am being.

I don't believe anything is going to change based on what happens on Lit, or what CNN or NPR or Fox News broadcast. "The People" are not going to wake up, or get informed, or involved. They're asleep, and they're going to stay that way. My only purpose with this thread was to give people that I know (admittedly only online) some information that might enable them to make an informed choice for themselves and for their children.

But it ends there. Then, once the water-wingers start swarming around, it's difficult for me to be playful. These are ignorant people who are interested in nothing other than compensating for their failures in life by acting out online. So, maybe you can tell me: should I just ignore them, or adapt to their low level of interaction? It's not as though the GB hasn't become a wasteland. Basically, you post with tumbleweeds or don't post. And it's hard to keep up a playful banter in a thread where shallow-enders are calling for your head on a spit.

So, in conclusion, I suppose it may become fun again in 2012, when some new Republican moron replaces the present Democrat moron.

Yeah, I got a flu shot. I am "high risk" so it is a yearly event. Will something do me in? History says yes. If it was working with plutonium, welding alloys, or crossing the street without looking I do not know. Personally I can only listen to my doctor and my guts. So far that has worked out alright.

I was asked to do some research on a welding accident. Some guy welding on a stainless fuel tank ended up a crispy critter. I went to Google to see what precautions others took while welding on fuel tanks with fuel in them. Time after time, in welding forums like this porn forum, welders spoke of filling the tank with exhaust from a gas motor to purge the air with CO2. Holy Shit! There was much debate if this was a good or bad procedure for welding on a live system. For the record, I would prefer to empty the tank and steam clean it. The point is, if I followed the advice of the posters, I too could be a crispy critter.

You have an opinion on vaccines. I get it. Are there risks? Always. Is there another side to this? Yes. Is one better than the other? Nobody knows.

My vaccine updates are provided so that those that might be on the fence will get the shot and not spread possible death to those like me.

And my arm is slightly tender, but other than that I am still doing just fine.

Well, that's fine. I would hope you read the OP beforehand, but if not, that's alright, too. It was your choice, and you made it. In any case, we're talking about a minimal risk from the contaminated vaccine, versus an even more minimal risk from the disease. I hope it's just a sore arm that's the end result.

I would have been one of the posters that advised against using gas engine exhaust. Would you have listened to me, then? Or not, because I was "on a forum"?

Acer was a pedophile and a serial killer who used HIV as his murder weapon; and Emerging Viruses: Aids & Ebola - Nature, Accident or Intentional? (1996), which advances the theory that AIDS and Ebola were engineered by the U.S. government with biological warfare and genocide in mind. As an author, the themes he has taken up over the years have moved away from public health advice related to dentistry, and on to general health-related conspiracy theories, opposition to vaccination, and New Age therapies, with elements of numerology and Christian apocalyptic prophesy.

In the immediate wake of the 2003 SARS outbreak, he and some associates promoted what they claimed was "effective treatment" for [SARS], a spectrum of naturopathic products all using the name "Urbani"; Carlo Urbani, then recently deceased of SARS, had first reported the disease to the World Health Organization (WHO). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Fair Trade Commission (FTC) warned Horowitz about the products' clear regulatory infringements, but it appears he has never permanently stopped marketing the claimed SARS remedies. As an apparent adjunct to his other health-related businesses, Horowitz has also attempted to operate a spa in Hawaii, called Steam Vent Inn[1]. It has apparently been shut down by the County of Hawai'i Planning Department since 2006.


Claims of a treatment for SARS

In a press release dated May 6, 2003, Horowitz announced on his (now defunct) website for Healthy World Distributing, LLC that he had, in collaboration with naturopath Joseph Puleo and others, co-developed remedies for SARS. The press release mentions experimental evidence of the efficacy of one of the remedy's ingredients against coronavirus cultures, as well as the results of trials allegedly conducted by Puleo on patients with coronavirus infections.[28] The coronavirus theory of SARS had been announced on or around March 24, 2002,[29]. Thus, Healthy World Distributing was then claiming "an effective treatment" a mere 6 weeks after the initial identification of virus type.[30] These claims attracted some press attention.[31]

The SARS remedies mentioned in Healthy World Distributing's press release all carried the name of "Urbani" in one variation or another. This labeling was ostensibly to "recognize" Carlo Urbani, who had first identified SARS to the World Health Organization as a new, infectious and lethal disease, after it had spread from China to Vietnam, and who had died of SARS shortly afterward on March 29, 2003. However, the press release did not mention Urbani's role in initial reporting of SARS as such; rather, he is mentioned as "one of the early victims" of SARS, and as a doctor who had been treating patients.

In 2004, the FDA sent Horowitz a letter of warning regarding his marketing of supposed remedies for SARS.
