Since you have a history of hemorrhoids you may want to put aside the embarrassment and speak with your doctor about this. It's not an easy topic to bring up I know but if you already have had medical issues in the anal area then s/he may be able to give you better advice about how much might be too much in regards to activity in that area.

I agree that you might want to at least pose the question to your doctor. I too have a hemorrhoid from giving birth. I've had it for 13 years. Mine is not bad enough for surgery though. It rarely flares up. And when it does flare up it isn't usually related to anal sex. I've had some very rough anal sex and I too have had bleeding. But it seems that it has healed up on its own within a day or two.

I think you are 'right on' about not being inebriated when having anal sex with your girlfriend. You just push the limits too much when alcohol is involved. I have been at fault for this too.

About the enema....you might have some thinner areas in your anus comparatively to the norm due to the surgery. I would suggest using a thick lubricant like vaseline and really lube it up before doing the enema.
