Halloween
themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
starts: October 1
closes: October 22
winners announced: October 29

I know. The Summer Lovin' Contest hasn't finished but here I'm starting the Halloween Thread. But it starts in three weeks and I won't be around for the next ten days.

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. You will probably curse the marking systems and fail to understand how they could possibly have done that to you. It can be a bumpy ride. If you want to know HOW bumpy, read one of the previous support threads e.g. The Summer Lovin' Contest Support Thread.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

PS. And you could be eligible for the Author's Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest and win nothing but the awe and esteem of your fellow-writers.

PPS. As usual there's a plug for my essay: Entering A Themed Literotica Contest. You will also find more helpful advice from others in the How-To section of the stories listed on Literotica. Some of that advice is much more helpful than mine because after all I'm the instigator of the Last Place Contest.

I expect to have three entries, and I have completed the first draft of one of them. It involves Necrophilia, and I hope Lit. doesn't reject it.

Horror is an only-in-this-season like of mine. I have two eXcessica books coming out for the Halloween season--one straight, one not. And three Poe-type stories entering a Poe 200th birthday anniversary contest.

I can write horror year-round, but at Lit, it's only best received during this time of year.

Hmm. I'm wondering if I should have saved Emet for the Halloween contest. Oh, well.

they must, surely. It's dead boring

Well, she's dead, yeah. But the guy doesn't have to bore a hole. She's already got one.

And, don't forget its my birthday, too. I'll be accepting any kind of treats you want to hand out.

I did wonder at the time why you hadn't.

It didn't occur to me, to be honest. I was glad to have written it, and I wanted some feedback before sending it off to eXcessica.

I'm sure I'll come up with something for Halloween. ;)

Not people and/or animals walled up, I hope. I'm reading through Poe and he overworked that.

Nah, I prefer people and animals being more active than that.

Oh, I got it! How about a massive rabid dog that terrorizes a small New England town?

Wait . . . I'm sure that's been done somewhere . . . .

Hehe, my favourite time of the year.

My last few contest stories were a little sappy. Time to let the nasty demons out

A quick rules question from a Noob, if I might?

In other parts, I have been known from time to time to do 'snuff'/'vore'/other dark erotica and I have already read the rules here so I know it's not permissible, but Halloween is a good time to crank out an idea that always comes to me while writing these... what if the victim comes back for her revenge?

Don't have an actual plot yet, just this concept. But before I waste any time on it, what would be the bounds so that I could give some flavor of what happened to the victim (obviously just coming out with it would violate Lit. rules.) How much can I 'show don't tell' on this without getting myself in trouble?

Beats me. I have a vampire novel posted here where someone gets snuffed in each episode.

The problem arises when you have those things combined with sex in too tight of a weave. I probably walked the line as close as you can in my Dark version of Home by the Sea, where Cat is more or less fucked to death by the invisible demons of the house. Before any of the serious pain and torment happens, it fades to black, because the beginning was meant to be just titillating enough to make your stomach go sour when the scene did. You know what happened when her walking corpse shows up later, but you don't see it happen in the story.

Conversely, some of the scenes in Danica are almost pure torture, with just the slightest hints of titillation thrown in there ( for the same reason )

What they're trying to avoid is severe pain ( mental or physical ) and death for sexual gratification purposes. You can have one, or the other, on the whole ( at least in the same scene ).

I'm sure that there are probably limits, but I have yet to see them. Between Danica, Ebon Genesis, and Home by the Sea, I've walked into some pretty dark places, and never had the slightest blip with regards to posting them here.

This might be doable, then, if I make it her POV. For obvious reasons (else why come back for revenge?) she's not the one finding it tittilating, so it would be a horrific act of violence in the story, rather than a sexual thing... must go off and work on this now...

A couple of examples of some pretty dark stuff that passed muster more than once ( I've sent in edits to both of these, meaning that Lit has reviewed them at least twice )

Yes, I know that they're still full of clumsy prose. They're better than the were, but still mostly older work. One of these days, I'll probably edit them again.

Ebon Genesis

Tharsas erupted in a growling scream, and charged toward his hated half-sister. She screamed in terror – seeing his twisted expression, and blackened hand – and tried to back away, but tripped over her own feet.

As she tried to scramble away, Tharsas leapt upon her, screaming in rage and pain, as the magic of her ring ripped through him. As he had with Peronelle, he ignored the pain, and tore the ring from Lavina's finger.

The smoke, stinking of burnt flesh and hair, hung heavily in the room, mixed with the faintly sweet smell of ozone, caused by all the electricity that had been unleashed. Lavina stared in mute terror at her brother's ravaged face, unable to even think – let alone move, or scream.

"How many times have you demanded I eat you – devour you? I will obey those commands one last time," Tharsas croaked.

Gritting his teeth against the pain, Tharsas formed the gestures of a spell with his horribly burned hands. He forced the words past his dry, smoke stung throat, and the magic came into being.

Lavina began to convulse beneath him, as his magic sucked her life from her, and transferred it to him. His blackened flesh turned pink, wounds sealed, and he felt his strength returning, as he sucked his hated sister dry.

When the spell's magic faded away, Tharsas was sitting upon a dry husk, which was crumbling beneath his weight. He heard the sound of terrified screaming coming from behind him.

Peronelle screamed, "What have you done? My darling! What have you done to my darling Lavina?"

"I have taken her, as she has taken me all these years," Tharsas replied, and laughed as he stood, turning to face her.

Peronelle started to edge away from him, but the magic of the cage forced her back to its center almost immediately.

Restored to full vitality by the life he had drained from Lavina, Tharsas walked toward his stepmother – still laughing – and staring hard at her. He stopped before her cage, and spoke the words of a spell.

As he completed the casting, he banished the magical cage around Peronelle with a thought. The huge, disembodied hand he had conjured scooped her up, and slammed her against the unyielding stone wall.

Peronelle screamed in pain as her head cracked against the wall, then gasped and screamed again, as the hand continued to apply pressure.

Tharsas tilted his head, and his lip twitched in a half smile, as he listened to Peronelle's scream trail off into a wheeze, the air being pushed from her lungs. He chuckled as he heard the cracks of her ribs breaking, and burst into gales of laughter as he heard the louder cracks of her other bones snapping, and her skull bursting.

Waving his hand in a flourish, Tharsas banished the magic. His stepmother's corpse collapsed into a broken, twisted heap on the floor, at the foot of the wall.

Home by the Sea

Then, mocking laughter erupted from everywhere again. Catherine's stomach lurched with fear, and a scream welled up in her throat. Once again, the hand over her mouth made it impossible to do more than emit a high-pitched moan.

Catherine felt cold hands slide under her knees. The hands pulled upward, and then pushed her knees out wide. The hands holding her ankles pushed forward until her legs were splayed out painfully on the bed.

The room filled with a strange scent – spicy and somewhat musky. As she breathed, the smell spread from her lungs throughout her body. Her terror drained away, replaced by arousal once again. Her transparent assailants propped up her upper body, and the hand over her mouth released her.

She felt mouths on her nipples. Cold lips and tongues swirled over her. Icy hands pawed at her breasts. Her nipples hardened to stiff points, and though there was nothing visible of whatever suckled her, she could see her breasts moving, the nipples pulling outward by unseen mouths.

She felt fingers part her nether lips. Looking down, she saw her labia slide apart, and saw the wetness gathering between them. Despite the chill touch, she was growing more aroused by the second. Her breathing quickened, and her pulse started to race. Somewhere inside her, she screamed, but that part was buried deep and the rest of her mind was ignoring it.

A cold tongue touched her, and she saw her labia wiggle as it teased between them. She felt it slide into her depths and swirl over her walls, and then her lips were sucked hard.

Catherine watched with disconnected fascination as her lips pulled outward in the unseen lips and rolled beneath an invisible tongue. Her mind was adrift, lost in ever-increasing arousal. Her hood was pulled upward, exposing her throbbing bud. Lips wrapped around it and she could see it moving back and forth as a tongue pushed it.

A tingling deep inside her was growing with incredible speed, turning into an electric jolt that shot between her depths and her dripping sex. The jolt suddenly shot up her spine, and then spread to every inch of her body as she came.

She gasped for breath as the chill mouths on her continued to tease. Her orgasm refused to let her go, contractions shaking her again and again, causing her body to try to curl up into a ball. Her muscles burned where the restraining hands prevented the involuntary actions.

The mouths on her pussy and nipples pulled away, and Catherine slowly came down from her peak. She closed her eyes, still held down, and shivered through the aftershocks of her climax.

She then felt something press against her nether lips, and opened her eyes to look down. Unseen fingers parted her lips, and then she felt something pass between them.

The head of the invisible cock sliding into her had to be as big around as her wrist. She screamed as she was held in place – forced to watch her lips stretched painfully wide by the gargantuan prick stabbing into her. She plainly saw her lips split, and blood trickling from the tears as the massive violator continued to push inside her.

She screamed in pain, her voice cracking and going hoarse. The intense arousal she had felt vanished in an instant, slamming Cat back into reality once more.

The cock pushed deeper inside her. The pain intensified to the point where her mind shut down, and she knew no more.

the guys I've snuffed in my vampire stories were much happier to go--so that may be why they passed the test.

There's a fair bit of leeway for the 'snuff'/'vore' type stories. I haven't had anything rejected and virtually all my stories feature sex and death mixed up.

My guess is the site owners want to protect themselves from the kind of stupid thought police-y type 'Defendent X read these stories and then went on a mad killing spree.'

I'd hazard another guess and say the kind of story that would get rejected would be a real world (as in no supernatural creatures), graphic description of someone killing someone else for the purposes of sexual gratification, written from the POV of the killer with the aim to arouse other people with fantasies of killing people for sexual gratification.

If your story isn't that, then you probably have a lot of margin to play around with.
