That's part of the point. It's pretty easy to end up in a situation where you're with someone you want to have sex with and find that their idea of sex isn't quite the same as your own. The real question is, how far would you let it go without saying stop and what would you think in the morning...

I can only think of one time where I followed through with something I really didn't think I would enjoy.

It wasn't a relationship. It could have grown into one, perhaps. In our non-sexual interactions, we were getting along pretty well. The circumstances were unique enough that I can't say for certain we would have dated further. (She was a friends roommate and there was unfinished business with the original friend.)

Anyway, she was into far rougher sex than I was comfortable with... in a first encounter, she wanted to roleplay rape, complete with being slapped around.

Yeah, I did my best to play the role for her. But the results weren't satisfying for either of us.

That's a tough one. Bondage and roleplay are definitely on the list of possible situations a person can end up in. I think most of the people who post on any kind of forum like lit are a little more open minded about sex than the standard joe. But we are admittedly the minority in that respects. I really didn't expect to find too many people here who didn't feel comfortable with sex enough to feel that they couldn't discuss with a partner or deal with a partner in an adult and sensible way. I'm really going after the portion of the populous who, in general, doesn't discuss sex and really only knows that most of the things we're talking about exist. They probably haven't been exposed to it or may have thought they would never be exposed to it. One day he/she finds him/herself in a relationship. They get to know one another fairly well, or so they think. Then they decide to have sex and one of them tries something that may not be far enough for the partner to yell "STOP"... But in the morning the relationship is probably over or at least in serious trouble. As much as I agree with Box that oral sex is wonderful, it's pretty easy for me to see someone giving into that during a first encounter but being incredibly uncomfortable with it the next day. Maybe not anyone on THIS forum... but those people do exist. What I'm really looking for are those things, like oral, that people would do. When we start talking bukkake I think that's going a bit far for what I'm looking for. Most people who would have a problem with that are going to go through with it and then regret it later. I think necrophilia, as far as Lit is concerned, would probably be out the window regarding the general understanding of the act. Live people having sex with corpses would probably not make the grade on Lit. That's just my opinion.

I figure one of the reasons Lit has not included necrophilia in its list of unacceptable subject matter is because of the existence of the Sci-Fi and Non-human categories. In either category, sex with members of the 'undead,' or ghosts and such, are allowed. Remember that, in many people's minds, vampires are not technically alive and sex with one could be considered an act of necrophilia. But vampires are a hot topic, with a huge fan base, and I'm pretty sure they don't think of having sex with a vampire is akin to poking a cold body in the morgue. So Laurel is granting some leeway there by allowing sex with some beings which would, technically, be considered dead.
