Reality TV: Where's it headed?

...Though I'm thinking they will start having actual sex in the reality shows before they start doing running man, not like they don't have plenty of footage of it already.

You mean the Sex Inspectors on channel 4 in the UK featuring Aussie relationship guru (does she have qualifications?).

Think Supernanny meets amateur porn but with less dominatrix overtones.

See here....

I don't much like Dog either, though I caught a show that was pretty darn interesting yesterday, Operation Repo, which is more or less what you think, camera crew following around repossessors. The people all flip out, sometimes funny, a gal flipping out over a 94 honda civic I think it was, it had sentimental value, she climbed on the roof, jumped into so on so forth. :D

Some not so much, one it was a bunch of kids playing basketball, one bought a new suburban type truck, they flipped out big time, all of his friends ran away and came back with guns, holding it sideways and pointing them willy nilly, with a camera crew there, I mean good lord how stupid can you get.

There was also an oh my god point, not for any violence though. They were going to get a van, that was fitted for handicapped, the owners walked by at the time, at least I think they were anyway. The one in the wheelchair was saying how he was a marine and served in Iraq, in Yemin. They were going on and on about how he had served for his country and so on when they were called on it. The one in the wheelchair stood up, long story short the van was repossessed and the two I think got to talk to the cops.

Reality TV is pretty screwy, but it doesn't hold a candle to the people they tend to find, not for the staged ones but the actual reality ones like cops and this operation repo.:eek:

I can say, without hesitation, that I hate, HATE reality television. It's Jerry Springer made into random television shows that have nothing more then the everyday gossip, backstabbing, and abhorrent behavior we see every day, all around us. I don't need more of it by watching the stuff on TV.

My husband alerted me to a show called Sex Decoy: Love Stings. It seems to me that it's like Cheaters, but with a really nasty twist, an "entrapment" of sorts. Here's a description:

Sex Decoy: Love Stings is set inside the private life and professional world of Sandra Hope and "Mate Check Private Investigations". Each episode chronicles specific cases in which a spouse or significant other hires Sandra and her team of decoys to "tempt" their potentially wayward lover and expose infidelity. The show also follows the ups and downs of Sandra'’s dysfunctional family, including her daughters, who work for her as decoys. Sex Decoy: Love Stings cameras roll nonstop as the love sting operation is planned, executed and revealed to the client.

We watched a couple of minutes of this piece of crap, and we were both just sickened by the tactics of the "investigator" and the decoy. If I found out my husband was hiring private investigators to set me up to cheat (because he thought I might be cheating). . . Let's just say we'd have some problems.

And the downward spiral continues......

I agree with you on this one, Eilan. If trust is so lacking between partners that someone would go to this extent, I'd say the relationship is gasping out it's last breath, if not already dead altogether.

In the couple of minutes that we watched, the man who was being "investigated" kept rebuffing the decoy's advances. The woman who runs the company, however, kept saying that she knew he was cheating, and when we changed the channel, she was getting ready to switch to a different decoy to try to get the evidence she wanted.

Probably a good thing I haven't found that one. Though I agree that's a pretty fucked up business, if you think your husband is cheating call us and we will try and get him to fuck one of our girls.:rolleyes:

I have this feeling they are in Hollywood.

Does remind me a little of Temptation island, aired first on Fox then Foxreality. They would take couples who are sure they are in love or might not be in love, seperate them and put alot of gorgeous guys and gals to try and seduce them. The odd part was none of them really seemed all that upset their girlfriend/boyfriend was getting sex.

Well there was one woman, who was so upset she grabbed three guys and took them into her room.

*guiltily raises hand* I remember that show and I'm slightly embarrassed to admit I watched more than one episode. Can I plead diminished capacity due to immaturity? ;)

I mean granted it's really nothing more than a tease show cause hey we're gonna show people having sex, but then not actually show anything besides the noise and the partners reaction to it. But you have to give Fox credit, they didn't just say hey there's this group that we stuck somewhere and they have to live, or hey we found some people who do this and we film it, they tried and create an interesting show without resorting to on the sly comments that this person said about that person like Real World, Cops or Survivor.

Not to say it's wasn't kinda obvious what would happen, they even spelled it all out in the very beginning.
