I've looked at a dozen web-sites and dozens and dozens of recipes and they very so widely, I don't know who to trust or believe. Do you make it at home? How do you do it? I was told by a bartender (who has yet to get back to me with a recipe) Shiraz. Now that I am the proud owner of a few bottles of the stuff, I'm told by a wine lady I have it all wrong, I need Roja! My Spanish haircutter says, "No vodka", yet the Spanish web-site says to put it in several of its recipes. Apples, citrus, strawberries, pineapple, even tomato juice!:eek: Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!

What am I looking for? That sweet juicy stuff like I get in the restaurants. Nothing bizarre. The kind that makes me forget I'm drinking alcohol, and 3 drinks later I forget my common sense. (Yeah, I'm a wimp.)

Help? :confused:

1 (750ml) bottle dry white wine
1 (6-ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed and undiluted
1 (10-ounce) bottle club soda
Orange slices
Lemon slices
Lime slices

Combine wine with lemonade concentrate; stir well. Add fruit, chill.
Just before serving, add club soda. Serve cold.

When I made it, I just mixed some random red wine, Sprite, a little orange juice and orange, lemon and lime slices and threw it into a pitcher. Then again, I don't really use recipes, I just take a stab at making things and it usually turns out fine. ;)

Those both sound so yummy. I'm going to try the white one out sometime! Right now I'm stuck with my Shiraz. I also have some triple sec, but the juice, soda, fruit part has me baffled. And I get you with the recipes, but I never feel that secure the first time out on something. About my 5th time, the recipe gets lost. :D

Thanks.

Yep. Sangria is traditionally made with red wine, not white.

Last year my daughter and I spent a month in Spain. I brought home this recipe that was given to us at our favorite tapa bar. It is wonderful if made the day before and allowed to stand at room temperture for the day, then placed in the refrig at night. If you do this do not add the club soda in until you are ready to serve it. Enjoy:)

* 1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
* 1 Lemon cut into wedges
* 1 Orange cut into wedges
* 2 Tbsp sugar
* 1 Shot brandy
* 2 Cups ginger ale or club soda

Any citrus fruit and apple, strawberries even whatever fruit you care to add---- the more variety the better

And for the under-age, adding the same ingredients to Coca-Cola works pretty well, too . . . minus the club soda, of course.

I like this one

1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
cut into slices. Lay flat in bowl.
Bowl 1 cup sugar into one cup water. Pour over fruit. Chill, at least half hour, preferably overnight.
Put all of the fruit and one cup of the syrup into a pitcher. Add one to one half cups red wine (or more, your preference). Fill the rest with club soda. Stir, refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Enjoy.

That one looks good too! But I'm not a huge brandy fan. Wonder if you could up the triple sec and add something else? Vodka?

There is a German apple liqueur called Apfelkorn that might add some unique flavor as well as some mild kick. I have a "stupid-me" story that involves driving home on the autobahn after consuming the equivalent of a full 750 ml bottle of this stuff, but it isn't all that amusing. It does go down easy and it does kick your ass, but it would certainly add a fruity kick to sangria. Just not a traditional spanish one.

Apfelkorn! Forgot about that stuff. Pear liquor would probably be good, too.

As for the autobahn story. Amazed and happy to be talking to you today. :eek:
