Ahm tempted to take my teabag to the party...

Here's a question...

It seems that these tea parties attract less people than the anti-war protests. If the tea parties are a demonstration of the will of the people and the government should bend to that will, shouldn't it also bend to the will of the anti-war groups?

Are you trying to give me flashbacks?

So does that mean that the politicians should pay attention to protests that have a real, decent sized turn-out?

What's the biggest right wing protest estimated at today... 2000?

laughable...

Waste of time.

The only people who care about the protest of the day, are those participating in the protest.

seems someone else cared too.....

Tens of thousands of protesters staged "tea parties" across the nation Wednesday to tap into the collective angst fueled by a bad economy, while President Barack Obama vowed "a simpler tax code that rewards work and the pursuit of the American dream."

"For too long, we've seen taxes used as a wedge to scare people into supporting policies that increased the burden on working people instead of helping them live their dreams," Obama said. "That has to change, and that's the work that we've begun."

Thing to remember. It remains to be seen how big they are. These are working Americans who write the checks to the IRS, today is a working day. These are not professional campus demonstrators.

Oh please..

There hasn't been a single event to date that has amassed more than 1% of the "American workers" you claim they represent. Even using Meme's inflated count of 6,000 in Orlando.. A town of 185,000 that is only 3% of the population.. IF only people from the city itself went. But I know people went from all over Orange county (population 1,066,000) that drops the actual turnout to 0.5% of the population.

One half of one percent.. Except the event was advertised over two adjacent counties as well. So in reality, even less.

Wildfire!

That's arguable today KO, Obama is governing against the will of the American people, the tens of thousands of working Americans on the streets today who will have their income confiscated to pay for it all is grim testimony to it.

I have a river in Egypt to sell you . . . but, never mind, you've already got one.

Rather naive of them to think this is only a radical fringe on the streets, thousands showed up in Sacramento today and thousands in New York. Most of these are going on into tonight.

Dude, that's fringe-level turnout.

I used to go camping with Holy and I always swiped his tea bags. He had interesting sorts. :D

I didn't know that. I don't mind as you're my buddy....ahem that was before I met Garby. But today we're both great coffee drinkers, right? :D

The People Spoke in November.

They voted for Change!

Not more Debt and more Taxes!

LOT's and LOT's of DEM's at the Tea Party in Sacramento.

Arnold had a BIG Smile on his face!

My local news this morning said a minimum of 3,000 today at Fountain Square, and they were going to march to City Hall.

And why do y'all keep referring to it as "right wing", aka "Republican"?

It's not about party, it's about out of control government--that would be both major parties. You're probably surprised to hear Democrats and other folks who voted *for* Obama will be in attendance.

Answering your question: Um, maybe because these folks didn't mind big spending until Obama became president? Where were the tea parties when Bush was raising discretionary spending every year above the rate of inflation, and doubling the military budget?

And getting 3000 wingnuts together in Cincinnati is about as hard as drawing a crowd for a Judy Garland retrospective in San Francisco.

I've been hell pissed about every dime spent in Iraq since March '03.

Yes, I've protested. No, I'm not a professional demonstrator. I know how it feels to be frustrated and angry and desperate for the majority of Americans to wake the fuck up.

So I actually have a lot of sympathy for the average tea bagger. Not Beck and Hannity and the other profiteers, of course, and not the racist pricks or buffoons carrying Obama/Hitler caricature signs. But the average frustrated wage earner protesting today? Even though I probably disagree with a lot of their political views, I tip my hat to them.

Sounds to me you get a little nervous when the silent majority gets a little vocal eh?

The Silent Majority was a majority in Nixon's day -- and still in Reagan's -- and is now a minority. Haven't you figured that out yet?!

Let's look at it graphically. Here's a red-state/blue-state map. But it's broken down by state, thus visually inflates the electoral importance of the big empties. Here's the same broken down by county -- which is still a matter of arbitrary administrative units, but you see the difference -- and here, far more tellingly, is the same adjusted to reflect actual population. As you will see, blue overwhelms red, and does not even call afterwards.

Attended One. A very mixed Crowd. Dems and GOPs are all over the place.

As soon as you screw with people’s money their political affiliation goes out the window.
There were 100,000 Obama fans in St. Louis at that rally last October.

Half of those October fans would make 50,000 at a tea party. Add in right wingers, and that would be a heck of a crowd in Missouri today.

Do you know the stats for tea party attendance in that state?

Did you count them one by one.

Wow a month before the election. Impressive.

The Tea Party was just the first of many.

I support the Helpless but I'll sure the fuck will not support the Clueless.
