Some moron managed to get the DC "teabag" protest shut down.
The Secret Service isn't too understanding when someone throws a package onto the White House lawn. They were allowed to return after a robot was used to open the package to be sure it wasn't dangerous..

I'm sure the "right" here will insist that it must have been some ACORN plant.

The big event of the day was to be the dumping of one million teabags. The Washington Post notes that this was originally supposed to happen at the Potomac River but was shifted to Lafayette Park because of issues of legality. And seriously, why anyone thought it would be legal to further pollute the Potomac is beyond me.

But! As it turns out, the alternate plan -- 1. Take a million teabags to Lafayette Park, 2. Dump them on a tarp, 3. Yell at them, 4. Clean up the teabags -- also isn't happening, because of permit issues.

According to reports, the truck filled with teabags pulled up to Lafayette Park, but didn't have a permit, and so they were loaded back on to the truck and driven off to an undisclosed location.

No, actually that's just the preposterous and indefensible spin Michelle Malkin put on the recent DHS Assessment on Rightwing Extremism, which merely and understandably identifies vets as one of the groups RW extremists might target for recruitment.

Actually it's not. I first heard it this morning on MSNBC. I promise you that station puts no Malkin spin on *anything*....and they were equally outraged; in point of fact one of them specifically said it sounds to him like DHS is targeting talk radio and thought it was "spooky"--the entire notion of "unnamed groups" and "ramping up rhetoric". Over the next few months, state homeland security agencies are supposed to help DHS gather information about diverse conservative groups in their borders and report.

They've gone too far. Government works best that governs least.

My local news this morning said a minimum of 3,000 today at Fountain Square, and they were going to march to City Hall.

And why do y'all keep referring to it as "right wing", aka "Republican"?

They had one here in Orlando a month ago or so. About 3000 to 5000 people (depending on who you asked) were there in a city of nearly 3 million, and this was an event that covered a couple of counties..

UD keeps trying to downplay the Orlando tea party, even though it was a HUGE success.

Park officials and Orlando police estimate between 5,000 - 6,000 patriots showed up.
