Have you ever been, if so what was your experience like?
I'm thinking of purchasing a ticket for this year's event.

It looks like it'd be a lot of fun.
(btw: I'm really glad to see you back)
Imp and I will be there... but we can't help you on what it is like. It is our first.

I have gone to Gen Con .
Is that the same thing?
I'm really looking forward to it......is it me or is it storming out side....good grief![]()
Its a bit of a storm up here, so you may be getting some of it yeah.
LOL! Seems a long ways to go for an expensive costume party.![]()
Not if you live in Atlanta or the vicinity, it's not.
Well, obviously. But from the Left Coast . . .
Of course, it is fairly direct and less than $250 from my local airport . . . but still, all the way across country? I'll bet there's something comparable a lot closer. Not exactly the same, of course, but close. No?
San Diego and Comic Con..... Not as heavy on Tv Nostalgia and Pop Culture but very very similar.
Though if you come to the Right Coast, I'll take you out for beer.
I would love to go one day. heres a link for people thats don't know what we are talking about.

So, do you have one of these costumes?

I think maybe you'd be very hot.....
If you want to talk about travelling long distances to D*C, me & mine have travelled from England every year since 2004...
The con has now spread to a 4th hotel (the Sheraton), and there are already over 200 names on the guest list, & there's still almost 5 months to go!
Why do we do it? Well, apart from obviously because we're crazy, it's just a great place to be. We have friends that we only see in person there, some we knew online before we started going, others we've met there. The costumes are always worth looking at, but they're really only a small(ish) part of it, there are panels on pretty much anything, not just sci-fi & fantasy, concerts, contests, parties, parties, parties. You never know which stars you might bump into (we shared an elevator with George Takei last year, for example, & had Richard Hatch on the next table at breakfast a couple of years earlier).
The only thing about it is, it's addictive! Once you get home you start thinking about the next one, watching the site for guest news, debating what costumes to take next year, arranging roomies to share with if necessary, etc.
So hope to see you there BlackSnake (though with 35,000+ people there finding someone could be a problem
Here's the official site, with guest lists & stuff, but be warned, all 4 main hotels & most of the listed overflows are already sold out! I made our reservation at the end of October & was lucky to get a room...
