Test driving my new Firefox and Open Office

While it looks like I spent the whole day goofing off on Lit, I've really been dumping Internet Explorer and downloading Firefox. I'm still a bit awkward in the driver's seat, but I think I'm catching on.

How many years behind am I? And did I choose wrong? Should I have selected Safari? Which I hadn't heard of until my download was complete.

Also, and this is huge as you all know: I deleted (burning would have brought more joy, but alas, it's a computer program) my Windows Office 200-something and downloaded Open Office! I haven't even used it yet and I'm already ...

:nana::nana::nana::nana::nana::nana::nana:

I'm just so excited and I had to share. Everyone around here looked at me like I was a little off.

All the cool kids run Chrome now.

(he said, to add to the confusion)

Firefox and OO are the way to go. I have used both exclusively for years. You will be pleased and much less vulnerable to problems. After all 65%+ of all Windows vulnerabilities are because of IE.

Uh, I hope you didn't dump IE completely off your computer. The only use for IE is that it is needed to do Windows updates in some cases.

Otherwise, welcome to the Linux users group.

YEARS? You mean I'm years behind?

Probably not. It's notoriously difficult to dump entirely, and if she's just now switching to Firefox....trying to think of a kind way to say this...she's probably not computer-savvy enough to accomplish it.

So glad you told me! I did dump Office, but haven't IE yet. Phew!

Now, I recently heard some griping about Chrome, but didn't pay very close attention. What's it going to do for me that the old Google doesn't?

Hey! I resemble that remark! And how I got an 'A' in my computer class last semester God only knows!

And yeah, that's pretty much the reason IE's still there. Looked like a lot of complicated stuff and it scared me.

When this antique dies, I'm switching to Mac. I hear it's perfect for computer whimps.

You really couldn't completely dump IE, it is part of Winblows and would crash it permanatly if removed.

I started with Netscape and kept using it until Firefox came out. I have this natural rebelious streak when someone like Bill Gates says this (IE) "has" to be on your computer. I will listen, the day he buys me a computer AND pays the electric bill to run it.

Same reason I used Lotus SmartSuite up to the day Open Office came out.

Umm ... so, it's not a google thing? Gonna start typing in very tiny print now so as to not shame myself any further.

It's Googles own version of a browser. Nothing special just different.

Very little actual new has been done in years.
Word processors are all derivatives of Word Perfect 5.1 for DOS, the first user friendly one.
Spreadsheets are derived from Lotus 2.x for DOS

Both of these were around 15 years ago.

Okay, okay! So, I looked closer. Nah, for now I'm gonna stick with firefox. My behind is starting to get comfortable in the new leather seats.

Nice to know there are choices. Love choices.

Now, who'd like to join my Avatar Contest? I'm looking for penises, or nice male nude shots ...

How about messages? :D

I knew this thread was a cover.

I tried Safari and Chrome, but ended up back at Firefox with some add-ons. The others are good though.

I tried Open Office and dumped it.
Everything kept freezing on my comp, I would get fifty docs instead of one when I opened it . . .
Got rid of it, got rid of the problems that weren't there before I tried the program.

I sincerely hope that everyone running Firefox because it's "safer" is also taking appropriate steps for malware protection, and not counting on the browser's reputation to protect them. The Firefox Armageddon is coming. The saturation point is nigh, and some kid living in his mother's basement is gearing up to gain fame and acclaim as the first to unleash a major FF infection.

Code has bugs. Code has holes. Once there are enough people using said code, it becomes a target. They will crack it, and it probably won't take very long, either. Anyone living with a false sense of security is in deep doo-doo.

I still use IE as my primary, despite the way the favorites work in 7 annoying the hell out of me. Firefox basically serves as a way to keep LesLumens logged in, so I don't have to do the log out, log in thing. Chrome serves the same purpose for my third pen name.

All it took was a couple of snooty splash screens from websites saying "get a real browser" to discourage me from changing my normal habits. That annoys me far more than having IE integrated into the OS.

How about messages? :D

As everyone can see, my AV is empty. Nothing, nada.

<<-----------------------See?

So, I got thinking, in the spirit of Lit and all the men who have hot women as their AV confusing the newbies like myself, I would post a pic of the best penis or other erotic male pic I could get. Afterall, I'd much rather be looking at a hot male. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. Too many hot women and weird animals. I thought a contest might be my best bet. But I have yet to get my nerve up to start a Driphoney AV Penis Contest Thread.

And guys (blokes, I don't discriminate,) I promise, if you send me your pic and you are chosen, you will remain anonymous if you so choose. :rose::rose:

But this isn't an ad or anything. :D
