I went to fictionwise yesterday. I’d never even heard of it before your and ace’s posts. QUESTION: Do these sites accept the complete eXcessica book list or do they only accept certain ones?

Are you wearing your Pink Panther outfit tonite, Jim? You know, the one with the matching six-inch spikes.

Barnes and Noble just bought Fictionwise. There is already a thread about it on AH. So what is happening today in the e-book market and all things related is not what will be happening tomorrow. Just as it wasn't what was happening yesterday. Amazon, of course, is trying to dominate the e-book market as it does the print book market. Did you buy one of those Kindle devices yet? The latest model has been out a week or so. Not much point in buying the e-version of Ace's "man fucking man" book Cruising Through History at Amazon.com if not.

Thanks for the free publicity. And right where you can find that meaty anthology Cruising Through History, kind readers, you can find nearly twenty more fabulous habu books on men and women fucking every which other way too--all with great reviews about them. :)

Now, if you want to find published erotica by either Sarahh or Scouries, I guess you're just going to have to wait for them to stop talking about doing it and actually produce something publishable. :D

I just don’t understand you some times. Why is it you always have to be negative and hurtful? Why are you so bitter about the world? Is it just old age?

More and more you’re sounding like a typical old retired ex-military type – put out to pasture but still believing you’ve got it. All bark and no bite! You’ve done your duty mr. pilot, now sit back and try to enjoy the world for a while.

Try to be a positive influence for once.

And remember, being an eXcessica editor and writing gay porn doesn’t qualify anyone for the writing hall of fame.

As to the boss he’s quite satisfied with his literary achievements (see below).

As is I’m sure our lovely friend (though badly misinformed on hockey matters) miss sarahhh :rose: is too.

Well, I'm pretty positive Sarahh and Scouries like to talk about things they don't actually do. That's being positive, isn't it? :)

QUOTE ace  That's being positive, isn't it

Yes it is! You see what happens if you only try?

QUOTE serena :p With each other? I believe it.

Shee-it, we just start to get the pilot turned around and then his partner has to butt in with a cheap shot.

So anyway, what about my questions?

And I’ve got another suggestion for you – again offered free of charge cause I’m a nice guy and I’m not going to hold your mean comments against you.

As publisher you should sign up sarahhh :rose: a.s.a.p.

WHAT!!! OK, I know you two have some outstanding issues. That not all is rosy in your relationship.

But serena :p its time to put aside your differences. To act like a serious businesswoman.

Look, eXcessica needs some star power. A big name draw. Something only someone like

can bring.

From what I’ve seen and what you’ve said its obvious your site (on which I’ll readily concede you’ve done a good job) needs a little more oomph. And the only author that I can see on the horizon who might just provide you a little oomph is none other than LITEROTICA’S most commented on authoress.

Her presence on your list would bring an avalanche of visitors to your site. And increase the sales of many of your minor authors. That's how I see it anyway...

I’m james r scouries and I love sarahhh and I understand how business works…

Now don't distract me, Jim. I'm working on your specific example of how this CreateSpace/Amazon business works. I'm using Ace's book "Cruising Through History" for the example.

But I do have good and bad news for Ace. Bad new first. I said he was making $8 on every copy of his book sold. That was an estimate. After doing the numbers precisely it looks like he is making $7.38 for every book sold via Amazon. The good news is that it looks like he is making $11.37 for every book sold at the CreateSpace store. Wow, that sounds high. And like I said, math isn't my strong suit. Unless I'm adding up the number of Steelers Super Bowl victories.

Hey, do you get that new six-pack of Heinz ketchup in your grocery stores? A different bottle for each Super Bowl we won. Oh, and you can use the stuff to make a nice thick Bloody Mary. Try it.

Okay, I'm going to check the numbers again before I post the example, and that won't be until tomorrow. I'll soon be departing for the sports bar where I often watch the Penguins games. Free food and cheaper drinks until the game starts.

I can't wait to hear you whine tomorrow about your Panthers sufferring a humiliating defeat.

Can't wait to see how you get to $8 profit on a $20 book that costs a minimum of $6 to produce, not counting CreateSpaces maintenance fee, and Amazon.com takes 65% of the sales price for selling it. :D

And then can't sell it to more than one or two people, because, for the fortieth time, the people shopping for such a book are all looking over on the e-book distributors Web sites.

Wonder if that's the same bar you were at last year and watched the Penguins get spanked by the Red Wings for the Stanley Cup?

Just curious. :D

Gabrielle L.

I'll get to the Kindle soon.

Well, my math was pretty good last nite, even after several Yuenglings and a shot every time the Penguins scored a goal. I added up the score and it came out to be Penguins 4 Panthers 1. Okay, I admit it, I said a little prayer to Lord Stanley before the game.

Not to worry, I like your team, and I do think you'll make the playoffs. The only certain losses on your schedule are 2 more games against the Penguins. Hey, Penguins vs. Panthers in the finals for the Eastern Conference would be sweet.

I'll give you that specific example of how this CreateSpace/Amazon business works as soon as my head clears. That might not be until lunch when I have a Bloody Mary made with ketchup from a Heinz Steelers Super Bowl bottle. I don't suppose you have Dolphins ketchup.

QUOTE sarahhh :rose: Well, my math was pretty good last nite… Okay, I admit it, I said a little prayer to Lord Stanley before the game...I have a Bloody Mary made with ketchup from a Heinz Steelers Super Bowl bottle. I don't suppose you have Dolphins ketchup.

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH! First off what are you doing up and about and posting at seven in the morning anyway?

And all we Dolphins fans have is the ONLY PERFECT season in the history of the NFL. And although ketchup may be main condiment in Pittsburgh we down here in Miami are a little more sophisticated in our culinary tastes.

I also have a headache after one of the worst evenings I’ve passed in recent memory.

Look, I like the Panthers and all that but I almost never go and watch one of their games live. Not because I don’t like hockey.

No it’s because the guy who used to own the Panthers, a guy who coincidently made his money as a garbageman, decided to build his new arena in the swamp at the butt end of Broward County.

So while it takes me only ten minutes to get to the Arena where the Heat plays (BTW I saw Shaq play the other night) it can end up being a three hour journey to the rink. Which why I almost never go. But…

..but yesterday we were entertaining Gabby ’s Oncle Pierre and her Tante Marie Claire from good old Canada and they insisted I take them out to dinner and the game. So I had to sit through an “early-bird special” cafeteria style dinner in Hollywood, Florida (all in French of course which fortunately I don’t understand and hence I felt no need to even pretend I was paying attention and yes our Canadian friends do use ketchup) and then an hour and a half ride deep into the swamp.

Fortunately the game was pretty good – at least for the first two periods. Then someone got to the refs! We were fucked! Cheap penalties. Offside calls missed. It was clearly fixed.

And then, when we finally started back to civilization, Oncle Pierre started moaning and groaning about the plight of his favorite team. Who turn out to be the Canadians! Now why a French speaking separatist supports a team called the Canadians is beyond me but apparently he does and he was eager and willing to tell me the teams complete history in broken English.

I couldn’t shut him up until Gabby and Tante Marie Claire insisted I detour to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino so we could all play the slots.

It only got uglier from there…

And now they want me to take them to see Brittany on Saturday night...

I’m james r scouries and I can’t wait for football season to start…

QUESTION: How much does CreateSpace charge for one of these ISBN’s? How much do they charge to print and send out the manuscript?

Okay Jim, let’s see if we can further answer your questions.

We already established that CreateSpace charges nothing for an ISBN. And CreateSpace is Amazon, in a manner of speaking. As I understand it, CreateSpace is a company that belongs to a subsidiary of Amazon.

Now for the printing and distribution. Let’s take Ace’s best seller “Cruising Through History.” I figure it’s a best seller, because no doubt, since the book has been mentioned here, you bought a copy for all the Dolphins cheerleaders and all their lesbian friends (you know, because the book is gay).

All the info I am about to provide is over at the CreateSpace site. Just Google CreateSpace, click on “Authors” and under “Books” click “Learn More” and click “Pricing & Royalties.”

I asked Ace if it’s Standard Plan or Pro Plan, to which he responded he didn’t know, and his queen has not shed any light on this matter. It costs $39 per year per book for the Pro Plan. I have figured it both ways. I don’t see much logic in not going with Pro Plan.

The list price of “Cruising Through History” is $19.99, and the number of pages is 314.

Standard Plan

40% Amazon share of $19.99 = $7.996
Fixed charge per book = $1.50
$.02 per page charge x 314 pages = $6.28

Add the three numbers above = $15.776 and subtract it from $19.99 list price = $4.21 profit per book for Ace under the Standard Plan.

Pro Plan

40% Amazon share of $19.99 = $7.996
Fixed charger per book = $.85
$.012 per page charge x 314 pages = $3.768

Add the three numbers above = $12.61 and subtract it from $19.99 list price = $7.38
profit per book for Ace under the Pro Plan.

The only other thing you have to pay for besides the $39 for Pro Plan is for a proof copy, which would be the list price of $19.99 plus shipping and handling.

Your book is automatically listed at Amazon.com once you have approved the proof copy, and you start raking in $7.38 for every book sold. Incidentally, the book is also listed at the CreateSpace store where the CreateSpace share is 20% as opposed to the Amazon share of 40%, so you make $11.37 profit for every book sold under the Pro Plan and $8.21 profit for every book sold under the Standard Plan.

Of course, Ace says he is giving all his profit to his queen, so he isn’t making any money, but this is what he would be making.

So Jim, if you publish your 314 page book entitled Put Out or Get Out about real boating pleasure with the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders, and the list price is $19.99, you will be making the same profit as Ace (or his queen).

Anybody have any problem with my numbers?

Incidentally, at the CreateSpace site, right under the explanation of how to calculate all this, they give an example, a 150 page book entitled Sixteen Summer Stories with a list price of $16. They say the Author’s share is $5.10 with Amazon and $8.30 at the CreateSpace store. That’s under the Standard Plan. They don’t show the calculations, but I did them and come up with the same $5.10 and $8.30. I further did the calculations for the Pro Plan and come up with $6.95 profit for Amazon and $10.15 profit for the CreateSpace store. As you can see these numbers are in the vicinity of what they are for Ace’s book.

you've got just the one self-published, print-on-demand one

So Ace, since you like to throw around the "self-published, print-on-demand" label, how about the latest book being plugged over on the "Literotica Authors and Their Books" thread? I'm talking about Dragon's Breath by Many Feathers aka Rick Lee. Is that self-published, print-on-demand?

the people shopping for such a book are all looking over on the e-book distributors Web sites.

Well, I just like to go to Amazon.com to buy the books I want to read. It's easier that way.

So Ace, why isn't your "Cruising Through History" and other work available at Amazon.com as an e-book? It looks to me like your queen's books are both print and e-book.

Well, I'm pretty positive Sarahh and Scouries like to talk about things they don't actually do. That's being positive, isn't it? :)

I’m not exactly sure what you are talking about, Ace.

But hey, I never was a male actor and film actor like you. And if I had known about that before just a few minutes ago, I would have displayed my reverence even more than I already do.

I mean, in looking for your e-books at Amazon.com, I just discovered the back cover blurb on your Flying High book. It states, “The author was a male model and film actor who turned to international intelligence service during the Vietnam War era, a career that started off in the stratosphere as an SR71 photo-reconnaissance jet pilot and moved on to more earth-hugging intelligence and diplomatic service in Asia and the Middle East.”

Well, I wouldn’t know about all that, although I do recall BFW expressing an opinion on the pilot stuff. But listen, are you sure you’re a publishing consultant and author of a book on publishing like you have claimed in this forum?

How would I know? Why don't you ask Many Feathers?

I do know your book was self-published print-on-demand vanity publishing because you revealed that information.

Oh, and so what?

Beats me. I just write 'em; I don't market them (and by George they still sell :)). I don't even know/care if that's true.

His/her/their interest is simple as usual. She's trying to prove that all the people with books listed in their sig are not published authors. They are but as usual she only wants to hear what she thinks is the truth.

Oh, she's just playing "biggest baddest bitch on the block"--and doing a good job of it.

I've answered so many of your questions, Sarahh; why are you avoiding the two basic ones I keep asking you?

1. What possessed you to pick the "one blowhearted piece of silly trash" posting personality for this Web site? (Truly wonder about that one, because you lay it on so thick and apparently think you impress people with it.)

and

2. Who do you think you are fooling? :)

Well, it would seem to me that a self-advertised publishing consultant and author of a book on publishing would want to know about all things publishing.

I'm interested in all things publishing. I mean, I'm not a publishing consultant and author of a book on publishing like you, but I do have this new book . . .

IOh, and just where did I reveal that my book was self-published print-on-demand vanity publishing?

Hey, if you can't keep track of all of your diarrhea of the post, why should I do it for you?

Do your own research, babe.

And that's a question. No more answers for you until you answer some of my questions.
