This is a supplement to Rumple's threasd on the kind of stories readers want. It's about the kind of stories you as authors want wo write. What's your favorite genre? I know, we all have more than one, but try and pick a favorite.

I had to modify the categories to make them more inclusive and so I lost some. The How-to category's gone, and so is voyeurism. I added Gay Sex and Other for the undecideds.

Group incest. I find a story about a woman being consensually gangbanged by her family and loving it very arousing. Just typing that sentence aroused me

I switched to horror and cranked out 4 stories this month, with 2 more on the drawing board.

Erotic horror seems to provide more bang for the buck.

I put other.

I'm still a new writer, for submitting to Lit. I find that I include at least a touch of light BDSM in my stories. I like the idea of a little non-consentual, but not actual rape.

I am finishing up a Lesbian story that has a touch of BDSM and D/s to it.

I guess I don't really have a particular genre. I just like to write what appeals to me. I don't mind adding Anal/Oral if it fits the story and the characters.

I'll admit, I'm considering writing a story with a touch of "World of Warcraft" to it, since I've played the game and can see where I could take the story there and create something from it. Just toying with the idea for now. I want to stretch my comfort zone for writing stories.

Anyway, that's why I put other.

I like to write non-consent stories set in present day.

I write mostly horror/fantasy genre material, although I'm expanding into other things. I find those two aspects compliment eachother well.

"Other" for me.

I've been writing mostly non-erotic fantasy/horror kind of things lately. For whatever reason, I'm not all that interested in writing sex anymore.

Other.

So far, anyway, my preferred genres:
Threesomes, usually with a "coming of age" tone to them.
Incest on occasion.
And erotic horror.

First Times. I try other genres also, but I always come back to that it seems.

Other.

While my work has elements of various categories, I'd say I prefer to write erotica in the broadest sense of the word (i.e., about how sex changes/influences us). Doesn't have to be graphic.

I like satire and social issues. I've got several pending stories exploring the hypocrisy of religious conservatives who are also perverts - the ultra conservative Republican who is screwing his 18 year-old daughter - that kind of thing. The unattractive woman who endures abuse but eventually finds love, the geeky guy who is a lousy lover and can't keep a girlfriend, these are the people I like to write about. I like damaged characters, probably because they're easier to write.

The more I read on this site, the more I skim the sex scenes (with the exception of some of the better writers.) What interests me most is what leads up to the sex and what follows it. I've been sitting on several stories because the big climactic sex scenes are sketched out, rather than filled with luscious details. I think I'll just put a disclaimer at the top of those stories and post them anyway.

I voted for other, because my favorite changes from one day to another. Right now, it is probably TS, because I am writing about a T-girl, but at other times it is anal/oral or E/C. Group sex is a challenge, because I have to write about so many things that are all happening at once.

Mine is obvious - Fetish, because I have a loyal following for that.

But - what I'd like to write is Romance.

What I'm apparently good at? How-To, not on Rumple's list because my only Ws are for How-To.

I chose "other".

I like to write characters. What they do and what happens to them depends on how they interact with other characters.

I like to write about sex between men and women and women. I like a Future world or modern day with a little twist that makes the story different. I don't know if what I write achieves it all the time?

Other.

What she said-- except that it probably will be graphic ;)

There are categories (I can't call them genres, sorry) that I won't write in -- at this time.

"Other" for me.

My answer to the thread title was - Good.

But I'm with cloudy lately. I've got a sci-fi I'm trying to figure out and another non-erotic story begging for a rewrite. And the novel of course.

...as soon as I get this frickin Spyware Protect 2009 off my machine.

Whatever category I write in, even incest, most of my stories seem to include at least some romantic element. So I suppose Romance/First Time.

Romance has an advantage, IMHO, over most categories in that it all but demands a three-part storyline with beginning, middle, and end. More often than not, it comes in the form of the classic: boy meets girl, boy loses girls, boy gets girl back. (The genders are, of course, interchangeable.)

Incest is a bit tougher since it tends to fall into one of two categories: will they/won't they, or, they're already doing it so what complications must they overcome?

Just my two-cents.

And Zoot, I feel well and truly supplemented. :D

Lit hiccups and I double-post. Life can be cruel to the young and beautiful, and a total bitch to us old farts.
