Post Your LIT Story/Poetry Links Here

I tend to make an image for most of my stories and put them up on my website. They're hardly masterpieces, but it's fun to do. My talent with this is somewhere below my middling skills as a storyteller.

A couple of my favorites

Hi Darkniciad :)

It's the artistic method that counts I think. Your samples are brilliant. I'm a new starter myself in creating covers. Atleast on here we can compare styles and ideas, as well as creating direct links to LIT submissions.

For me, a mix of Paint, two or three free programs like Gimp, and finally bought a copy of Photoshop Elements when I caught it on sale.

EDIT: Missed the "links" part of the original post. Linked the cover images to the stories.

I have elements 3.0. I should play around with it and see what I can come up with.

Captures the essence of the title, that's for certain. That ( well, and nekkidness ) is what I aim for in mine *laugh*

I think the title and the author tag could be a little larger. There's still just a bit too much open space on the mobile home, and you always want to pump up the title and your name. Love the positioning of it, though. It fits in perfectly with the image that you chose.

The scene on the cover from Ghost is in the story, and is actually a major turning point in the story. The woman perfectly matches her personality, too. The Offering is a scene as well, with a background also described in the story. That frikkin' altar was a nightmare to put together. It's about three different images, most of which were photos that I had to modify to blend in with the image of the girl.

Lot of work for something that's a tiny fraction of the image :p

Steward isn't exactly a scene, though it could be considered sort of an overview of several. The girl perfectly captures Xantina, though.

This looks like fun; I like the covers you guys have done. If I wasn't so blasted technologically challenged, I'd give it a try myself, but I have no clue how.

Neither did I, when I started.

Had no idea how easy it was to cut pieces out of an image and transplant the until I got ahold of Photoshop, either. I'm getting much cleaner edges on my cut and paste stuff with a whole hell of a lot less work now.

Starting to evolve a little more toward e-book sized in recent ones. I should get the actual dimensions from Selena's thread and start conforming to the standard.

It's quite easy...

(1) Place your artwork on a gallery site (ie Photobucket)

(2) Then link your IMG to LIT threads with an "insert link" to your story or poem

:)

Yes, bringing a little e-book ideas to lit using the links :)

I don't have any artwork... Don't understand how to do the image link thingie either. I don't even remember how I did the "Hot Story Goodness" link in my sig; someone told me how, I did it, and immediately forgot how. When I say I'm technologically challenged, I mean severely. lol

My daughter is an expert with Photoshop and that kind of thing; she does "edits" for images that other people use on their Myspace or other accounts. I can't even begin to comprehend how she does it, and I've watched her.

I agree about the letters needing to be bigger. I'm just now starting to learn elements 3 a little. The pic is actually from a book cover - Trailer Trash. Ha!

I don't really know much either. I may get a few together and pimp out my sig.

I just now started trying to make my own covers for my published works. I never thought to make covers for my stories on Lit, but it sounds like a cool idea.

Usually, I just let the creative minds at excessica (usually Selena) come up with my cover art. The big problem with creating my own is my ancient software and no funds to upgrade. I have a really, really, really (1999-ish) old version of Adobe Photo Deluxe, Paint Shop Pro 7 (I think PSP is up to version 10 or 11 now) and Ulead GIF Animator 5.

They work well most of the time for what I need, though.

Can I post the covers I made for two e-books yet to be released or is this strictly for Lit stories? The e-books were once Lit submissions.

This thread is for LIT cover links basically... but I don't see any harm in showing covers without attached external links :)

One more, a departure from nearly everything else. This one is actually made up of custom characters from the Neverwinter Nights toolset. *laugh* It actually worked out really well to create a medieval fantasy Santa figure.

My one true success at writing an actual short story. No sex at all, and only one Lit page long. Needless to say, it went over like a lead balloon ( Mythbusters actually pulling that off notwithstanding )

Great idea for a thread Darknciad
