Nutcracker? Sweet!

This is a un-PC place we, each and everyone of us, can list all those things we hate about this season...

I hate the Nutcracker!

well, just to be clear, not this sort of nutcracker ...

Cute.

But since I danced as both the Sugar Plum Fairy and flowers in my innocent youth, I have to say the Nutcracker Suite (as originally intended) holds a warm place for me.

However, I really dislike putting up the outdoor lights. Decorating the rest is fun...but not the damn lights.

I also don't like wrapping presents. I'm not a grinch, really. I love giving presents, I just hate wrapping them. But even I know presents don't look so appealing in a grocery bag. So I wrap anyway.

And it goes without saying that undoing all decor is a drag, but I'll save that rant for after the 26th.

The worry about wtf I'm getting everyone.

So far I have 2 gifts. I have no clue what to get my brother, my boyfriend or Sir.

Tho I did have a cute idea for something for Sir, not sure if I'll do it yet or not tho lol.

Christmas music.

Amen.

I also hate the way people drive this time of year. It's like they left their brains wrapped neatly under their trees.

And people who decorate their houses so that you can't see the house through the blinding light.

And those obnoxious bells the people from the salvation army use. I always donate, you don't have to irritate me in the process.

There's a house like that in the village where my mum works!

Honest to god you would think it was a landing light for the RAF base!

I have no idea what to give my two grandsons...

or my GF......

*sigh*

I've seen ones like that. I don't know what irritates me more; the absolute gaudiness of those houses or the obnoxious noises my kids make whenever we see them. But who ever said kids have taste, my kids think sponge bob square pants is the the funniest show they've ever seen.

I always know what to get people, I just can never afford to get them what I want to get them. I love having a big family, but it sucks during the holidays. (I have five brothers and sisters, and K has four. And ten nieces/nephews, plus our heart child/nieces/nephews.)

But that's ok. Another couple of years and me and K will both be out of school and I'll be able to afford gifts for everyone.

Thing is, some houses with outside lights have a theme, and can look really tasteful. My mum puts icicle lights all along the edge of the house and around our garage and it looks nice, and we went past a house while out on wednesday that was all white lights that looked lovely, but this house in the village where mum works looks like an xmas lights shop just threw up on it.

There's more xmas lights than visible brick work.

LOL Great analogy. I've seen houses, also, with lots of lights that look good. They're color coordinated, the lights are hung neatly, and they work well with the lines of the house. Others I want to go up and say 'how much did you have to drink when you hung those lights up?'

Tinsel!

It's always over done and then the animals run around with sparkles hanging out their ass.

We have council owned houses down our road, and there used to be a family who lived in the 4th one down who used to put god awful xmas lights up, including a large inflatable santa that sat in their front garden.

It was horrific. All 6 bungalows in our little bit of the road sighed with relief when they moved out 3 years ago lol.

ROFL

My step dad always insisted on tinsel. Number one thing I did when I got married was toss that little, obnoxious tradition out the window.

I didn't have much trouble this year. Most on my list are getting something from while I was in Dublin, and the rest...well...they live in Dublin *giggles*.

My lists are kept small. I don't give gifts to my cousins or aunts or uncles, or their families. They only complain about what they got and what they didn't git, and they can do that just as well with out me spending time and money on them.

What I hate most about this season is that no matter how hard I try I just can't be happy. :( There is always at least one person missing from my holiday, so no matter how many I have around me, that void is always well felt. :(

I hate christmas music.

I loathe forced cheer.

And I passionately despise overdone outdoor decorations.

I think we have a consensus. We all hate overdone outdoor decorations.

We should make a 'what do you hate about christmas' poll. :p

This. VERY much. Christmas music wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't played constantly, every station, every place, all the freaking time.

Forced cheer!! GAH! I hate the fact that you are "supposed" to be happy at Christmas, and as well the weeks before Christmas, and if you are having a bad day you are "not in the holiday spirit" and are "ruining everything for everyone". Or is that just me and my fucked-up family?? GAH.

The overdone decorations have a soft spot in my heart from childhood, tho.
