Nutcracker? Sweet!

Christmas music.
i hate the way christmas is s o commecialy overdone. my dad calls my the grinch becuase i hate most christmas music and complain once its been on the radio for a week or two with a month to go. it just bugs me to no end.
Amen.

I also hate the way people drive this time of year. It's like they left their brains wrapped neatly under their trees.

And people who decorate their houses so that you can't see the house through the blinding light.

And those obnoxious bells the people from the salvation army use. I always donate, you don't have to irritate me in the process.
I wouldn't mind Christmas music if it were only played, say, the last week or ten days before Christmas and on Christmas day. Unfortunately, around here, at least, they started playing it in the stores on Halloween night!

And yes, the freakin' Salvation Army bell-ringers. You can't go in a store ANYwhere without having to go past them and having your ears assaulted by those tinny freakin' bells! I give what I can afford, for the season, at the first SA bell-ringer I see. They should give out pins that bell-ringers could recognize that make 'em stop ringing those damn bells until you're in the store.

The worry about wtf I'm getting everyone.

So far I have 2 gifts. I have no clue what to get my brother, my boyfriend or Sir.

Tho I did have a cute idea for something for Sir, not sure if I'll do it yet or not tho lol.
I always have trouble figuring out what to get people. And even more trouble telling them what I'd like when they ask. Hell, I dunno! Get me something you think I'd like based on your knowledge of me. I'll almost certainly like it.

Tinsel!

It's always over done and then the animals run around with sparkles hanging out their ass.
My family wised up and stopped using tinsel after the first year the dogs ate it and then had it danglin' as they ran around.

I'd just like to pop in and say that I LOVE overdone outdoors christmas decorations. Its so fabulous! I wish every house could be twinkly all year 'round.

Tape.

Yup, that's pretty much it. I have a vicious relationship with tape. I love bows, ribbons, the little stringy things you curl with scissors, but I hate tape. I will bag presents whenever remotely possible, but since paper and tape are usually cheaper than bags, my sense of frugality usually wins out. Every year I find myself sitting cross-legged on the floor swearing at a spool of tape that the stupid plastic serration refuses to cut through, leaving me to hacking it into strips with scissors. Of course the edge invariably springs back and sticks to itself, peeling into tiny little shreds when I try to dig it back up with my fingernails. I also have a body electricity that makes my cats' fur stand on end every time I touch them, so of course the tape reacts to the static charge and sticks to everything but the damn paper. For every foot that manages to make it onto the gift, there's at least six inches of discarded little balls of tape littered around me.

At least the cats have something to amuse themselves with while their fur settles.

Ever try to find a war movie to waste away a cold Saturday afternoon on TV in December? Just try finding Hunt for Red October!

I hate all the Christmas movies that are continuously being played for the next three weeks...

I love Christmas. My tree has been up since Thanksgiving. My son tapes Christmas specials so that we can watch a different one every night. We watch one then the kids do their Advent calendars before bedtime.

I listen to Christmas music all day at work. I am especially cheerful and nice to people I meet on the street, in the mall, in stores especially the grouchy ones. My house has lights but not too many.

I no longer buy presents for my siblings or their children unless we are spending the holiday together which is rare since we live 2500 miles away. Unfortunately my husband's family still insist on buying for each other which is absurd in my opinion.

The only part I don't like is that since I work in a hospital I frequently have to work around the holidays. This year I have to work Christmas Day :(

As a staff member for a rape crisis center we must be available for crisis calls and hospital call-out 24/7 - working a child sexual assault at the hospital on Christmas is a bummer

Working for any sort of retail / food service business open on Christmas sucks.

Umm... you're a techie. Did you ever think of using yer dang grounding strap while you're trying to wrap packages? :p

I love christmas and everything that goes with it.
I love what it stands for, the music that tells about it, seeing decorations, figuring out and buying the perfect gifts for the people I love because I love them.
I don't need to be forced to be cheerful. I am because I am reminded of what I am celebrating. If you aren't celebrating what christmas is then why celebrate at all?
And by the way...dominick is a boy and people who are of italian decent or ever spent a holiday with someone who was like the song.
Merry Christmas :)

A cheerful bloodsucker. (For those of you who don't get it, look at her title :p) Just what the world needs. :p

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO GET ANYBODY!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I always just end up getting my parents books, but I never have A CLUE what to get my moms boyfriend, and usually end up just tagging along with a gift my mom gives him. AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO GET P. For his birthday I got him a vintage porno mag and a cool movie poster for this 50s B movie about evil sexy lesbians. So what to get him for christmas? Panic!

We should make a 'what do you hate about christmas' poll. :p

oh-for-crying-out-loud I just made this "what I hate about this time of year thread"

now you want me to make up a poll?

jingle bells - jingle bells - jingle all the f*$%@ng way,..,.,.,.,,.,.

aaah yes - "Panic!" the true meaning of this time of year....

and much fuller un-PC rant about the "true" meaning later - so get your flame throwers ready....

O no no no, shanka-sama, with all due respect.

Christmas is HIGH CAMP. The highest. Join with me in the Church of Santa, with all his twisted and gruesome wonderfulness.

Here. Read this. It's one of the tracts of Clausians like me. And it will help you, I promise.

Hail Santa. Santa is Lord.

ROFLMAO

In the short term, paper and tape is cheaper, but I collect bags. I have tons of them, and rarely have to buy them. At family parties I go around and collect them.

as long as you can select more then one thing

You could.

I used to hate Christmas. Honestly, what I hated the most was the family pressure. Both me and K's parents are divorced and remarried and everyone wanted to see us every year and no one was willing to compromise. And then I started flaring (ie getting sick from the crohns) every year from the stress. So we started refusing to go anywhere (we have an open house on Christmas day, anyone who wants to see us knows where we are). For a couple of years everyone was irritated, but not as irritated as they'd have been if we went to someone else's house, but not theirs. Suddenly I found myself enjoying Christmas again. There's still stuff that bugs the crap out of me. And, honestly, the full scale greed gets on my nerves more than anything. Too many people who think of Christmas as a gimme day. But since we don't go anywhere Christmas Day, I don't have to deal with it anymore.

And, on the bright side, suddenly our families are a lot more willing to compromise regarding holiday festivities.
