Choking?

I was chatting with a woman who's major fantasy was about being choked during sex. Either with my hands or belts. Our sex chats always had that theme in it.
Anyone out there have/had that experience? What did you get out of it?

Erotic Asphyxiation

A often linked article on the The Medical Realities of Breath Control Play

Breath play is (and isn't) common in BDSM... I've known people who associate tight lacing (corsetry) with breath play, as being tight laced can mess with your blood oxygen levels - especially if you start to hyperventilate during climax whilst laced. I've known people who practice breath play by holding their breath. I've known people who practice breath play via hoods/etc. I've not known anyone (personally, IRL) who practices breath play with hands/belt around the neck. It's considered an "edgier" sort of thing... the whole increased risk of stroking out/heart attack/death thing vs. kinky getting off thing. ;)

Just in case you're interested. Also, I'm into breath play. Some of us are, some aren't. Those who aren't always feel the overwhelming urge to remind you to be safe. So I'm gonna do it first.

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL.

Of course this is probably not an issue, since you're just cybering breath play. But just in case:

Remember to have a safe motion. A safeword won't work, cause if there's a problem she won't be able to breathe enough to say it. I snap my fingers if there's a problem.

Beyond that. Seriously. Hot. K's been known to use scarfs, but I prefer his hands. Well, except when he's not being careful and pushes down on my collarbone. He has big hands and I'm small, so positioning is important. I don't know why I think it's so hot, but I do. *shrug*

Shoot. You must have posted just seconds before me, CM. LOL Seriously weird.

I am a EA fan by means of physical choking (either by hands on neck or by hand over mouth and nose) and lacing. I have even started (re)collecting corsets and waist cinchers for this expressed purpose.
My Hogosha gets off on the aspect of being in control of such an important element and I get off on the loss of control. We both enjoy intense struggle (IE rape play) and this often goes hand in hand. I love to fight back against his overpowering acts and he loves my futile attempts to stop him. We too have a safe action that stops any and all EA the instant it is implemented. I also enjoy the simple element of grounding the action can create. By placing his hands around my neck I instantly feel at peace and calmed. A slight squeeze will send shivers thru me and immediately causes my sub to surface. I imagine this is one reason I enjoy tight collars.
The lacing is another way for him to control my breathing and arousal in a hands off way. If he chooses, he will select a cincher or corset from our collection and help me put it on. Once it is in place he will lace it and tie it off at whatever level of comfort (or discomfort) he desires. It is another humbling and grounding tool that reminds me with every gasp of breath my place and role in his life. By the time we finish getting ready to leave the house I am already begging him to let me orgasm. The feeling is....well.... breath-taking.
I have started some EA with my sissy maid and I am finding I like the controlling side too. His reactions to my tiny hands on his neck send him straight to that place I know and love so well. It has also been an interesting tool in which to test his limits. Since I am so much smaller than him, he could very easily over power me and force me to stop. However as my submissive, he wouldn't dare. We've yet to hit his safe action, and I keep pushing closer to see where he is. It is so rewarding to watch him struggle to please me. Very much a rush indeed.
EA isn't for everyone. I agree it takes a level of trust and education that not everyone is willing to endure. If you do choose to attempt EA, read everything you can on it to gain perspective and a healthy fear. If what you read doesn't scare the balls off of you, then ease into it slowly. NEVER ATTEMPT EA ON YOURSELF!!!!!!!! Many have or nearly have lost their lives choking themselves with various tools and devices. It is never safe to do on your own so just don't.
So have fun and be safe. If you need anything let us know.

i love being "choked" though it has to be with someone i really trust. i am not being judgemental here, but how do you play with breath play while cybering? i mean you said it was cool that she entrusted you with that kind of control, but unless you have your hands or belt or whatever around her throat, how do YOU have control of her breath?

anyway, breath play=HOT!

I've always considered choking play to be very different to breath play.

For me, breath play is (obviously) things that cut off or severely diminish your air supply while choking play is more about putting pressure on the carotid arteries, and causing light headedness, dizziness and eventually blackouts.

Sure, there can be some restriction of airflow as well, but during choking I've usually found that I can breath ok.

For that though, personally I'd never, ever allow anything more than a hand. A hand can let go in an instant, whereas it can take a second or two (or more!) to loosen a belt or other something tied around a neck.

When done carefully, by someone who knows what they're doing and has a considerable amount of focus and self restraint, it can be quite ok.

Michael Hutchnance is a prime example.

I've seen reference to breath play on the forum but wasn't entirely sure which activities were considered breath play. My dom and I participate in choking (hand or belt) which I mistakenly thought was breath play. He also covers my mouth and nose with is hand. Of course, we never push it so far that I pass out. We always combine breath play with sex. I don't think it would be much fun without sex. Does anyone do breath play sans sex? Yeah, probably a silly question but I don't know. The best breath play/choking experience for me was in a wooded section of a park, at dusk, tied to a tree, whipped, then ass-fucked from behind while he pulled his belt tighter around my neck. Ah, the memories. lol

:) Me.

If I'm getting choked or having my oxygen supply greatly diminished, then there better be a penis involved somewhere, somehow.

I don't think it's possible to do this safely as a cyber thing. If she just stops typing because she's passed out, what exactly are you going to do? You have no clue what is happening at the other end.

Some people prefer to cover the mouth and nose rather than squeeze the throat. If she did this, at least you can know that she will release her hands from her mouth if she faints but even with a cam, it's really too risky IMO. Last thing you want is for the poor woman to die of asphyxiation while online with you. How do you plan to explain that to the local constabulary?

The one time I did black out for a moment, there was no sex ionvolved. And given the somewhat confused state I was in when I came to, that was probably a good idea.

But, a bit of general squeezing of the neck and covering of the mouth while fucking is ever so hot.

Psychological Aspects of Choking

Hey, is anyone here willing to comment on more the psychological side of wanting to be choked? I played around with it very lightly with a girl I was with at the time, mostly my hands around her neck during sex...we were into the symbolic act of it more than actually cutting off the breath itself.

What is it about being choked that really deeply turns you on, subs?

Thanks!

And that is fine for you. But for me it is not just the act of "being denied air". More-so it is the act of submitting to his will and trusting him completely. The lack of oxygen is just added benefit we both enjoy.

(Note: there _is_ always a penis involved somewhere.... its just not always inside me.)

Control. Lack thereof. That control being in someone else's hands.

Sir and i have talked about what i'm willing to do, and this isn't one of them. It just plain scares the heck out of me because of the possibility of it going wrong. It has nothing to do with me not trusting Sir because i do, i just don't like the fact that it could go so horribly wrong so quickly.

i'd prefer to live lol.

Choking/ smothering/ strangling/ breath denial

There was a news story i saw a while ago about school kids playing a game where they'd smother/ strangle each other as a way of getting kicks - an alternative to sniffing paint kind of deal. I think they called it space-monkey if you wanted to google it.

---

This is about my experiences I've had, all pretty irresponsible. PLEASE DO NOT SEE THEM AS SUGGESTIONS, just reflections of my physical and psychological tendencies and outcomes from such play, as questions have been posed regarding this in the thread.

I have:

a) usied cyclic "exercises" controlling my breathing so I'm almost in a state of hyperventilation. I generally don't feel as though I have a great deal of self control so I think that the idea has a large part to do with it.

b) holding my breath for a long time so that I get lightheaded and fucked up. Mostly when smoking cigs or green. But I stopped doing that when I stopped smoking, so you know. A large part of my habit was the process, rather than the outcome, and I largely wanted to "escape"..

c) [a past experimental phase] holding my breath/ playing with scarves when i was masturbating. Looking back, it wasn't really that smart to do, but I *thought* I was safe, as I never suspended myself, nor used knots or anything that wasn't immediately released when I loosened the tension of my grip. It is very dangerous, but at the time I wasn't really that concerned with my well-being. things are different now.

I like the feeling of being on the edge of what I call "oblivion", but I have a tendency to like being stoned, heavily medicated and generally out of it.

With a combination of substances/ this kind of activity [NOTE: VERY IRRESPONSIBLE AND DANGEROUS], I've been at a point where I could swear I felt/ saw the whole universe pulsating around me, which is probably the most spiritual experience I've ever had, which I guess is why I have an affinity to this kind of thing *shrug*. I've since realised that I don't need to use those avenues to reach a similar state.

---

This all being said, I haven't found a sexual partner that I've felt I've trusted enough to do this stuff with (but it's been a while since I've been with anyone long-term).

There is also the idea in the back of my head, if you ARE doing this with a lover, and something goes wrong, would I really be comfortable with them being slapped with a) manslaughter, b) assault or c) irresponsible endangerment of anothers life?

Thanks to a wonderful law system, It's pretty hard to not have charges pressed if you're in a coma or have suffered documented damage of one kind or another, even if it is consensual.

Just my (probably more than) 2c worth  as this is a topic that I find very intriguing

Unfortunately I haven't had the oppertunity to play around with this much, but it has happened once or twice, just very slight pressure on my throat while we were making out, and it felt amazing. It heightens the entire experience. I definitely want to do more, when and if I can ever stop being single, lol.

It's been said before. In big, bold, red letters. BE, EXTREMELY, CAREFUL. Normally, sex carries a risk of pain. Cutting off someone's breath is so much more dangerous, you need to have a lot of control or a good backup plan.

That being said. I don't find choking, actual choking, attractive. However, smothering is different. I've had my face buried between a friend's breasts deep enough that I couldn't breathe, and it was a lot of things at once. Warm to touch, hot to think about, soft to feel, comfortable to relax in, and suffocating in that I couldn't breathe. I enjoyed every second of it.

I'm usually submissive, and smothering is an extremely, extremely trusting thing to do. I trust whoever's smothering me to know when I can't take it anymore and pull away, or pull me away, so I can breathe again. Otherwise? I'll be out. I could potentially be harmed. I'm extremely trusting, and putting that much trust into someone is something that makes me shiver in delight, to be honest. That on top of the fact that the two places I fantasize about being smothered against are either comfortable (between the breasts) or good to please the one suffocating me (facesitting)... it's a fetish I really want to get into. ^_^
That probably also covers curiousboy's question, at least my opinion of it.

Anyway. I can only hope whoever I wind up with is sadistic enough or romantic enough to suffocate me now and then, whichever is needed. :D (Just as long as I don't actually wind up passed out for her fun)
