Shopping for a Sling Frame

Check out the frames used for suspension, such as the spider frame. I've also heard of people using a "Hatteras Frame", which is a wooden frame built to hold a hammock. You can find them on google, and they are fairly reasonably priced. While you probably won't see a load rating on a website, you can contact the manufacturer and get load ratings. They're designed to hold a hammock for two, so the rating is likely to be in excess of what you need.

As an aside, I understand your urge to over-engineer. I use 2800lb test premium yachting nylon for my primary suspension lines, and multiple lines of it. OSHA's "10x over" for static loading is a good place to start IMO.

And I use a squat rack rated to 1500lb burst. And the burst test they're talking about is 1500lbs dropped onto the pins from three feet or so, so it is rated significantly higher for static loads. Ran me about $300, and is dead handy.

You know, that's a perfectly valid question; and in truth I am leaning that way. I have a theme that I want to maintain. But then the issue of price point raises its ugly head and the bean counter in me kicks in and I start wondering if there isn't a cost savings to be had from a commercially available options. I am truly a sad, sad man... LOL

Aw c'mon....the camera pans in on a guy bent over MIG welding....he stands up, flips back the hood and lights a cig...a hot girl comes in with a cold beer "whatca workin on Daddy...."...you get the picture.
