One Step Forward....Several Steps Back

Please stop quoting him. Please. Pretty please.

Yes, please. I've had this fool on ignore for awhile and the only reasons he posts crazy shit is to get people wound up. Ignore him. It's not worth the blood pressure.

Schwenn, no quotes no more, okay?

They are right, it's better when he can't be heard.

I wish I had a nickle for every time STELLA puts me on ignore then sneaks a peek at my posts. She's as shameless as SARAH.

Lets do this. I'll post a thread thats awful, and lets watch how many peeps look at it.

For those of you who have JBJ on ignore, he just apologized for being such a douchebag.

Don't
take him off of ignore, mind you. He will probably revert to his old ways very quickly.

Make sure to keep him on ignore.

Just trust me, he's writing about how very, very sorry he is.

;)

Awww. That's sweet.

<---still has him on ignore. :D

It's not looking good here either.

However, this issue will ultimately go to the Supreme Court of the United States, based on the 14th Amendment. A court that will now have the next few additions to it selected by Barack Obama.

Remember dear, these kind of fights are not over in round 5. And the final round will be in front of a court that I believe will come to the same decision the Supreme Court of California made.

I hope you're right, but I wouldn't be too confident of that. Obama apparently was not in favor of Gay rights, although he was pretty ambiguous on the matter. Now that he can expess himself and not worry about political repercussions, it will be interesting to see what he says.

Ignore him indeed. I'm even for writing to Laurel about it.

But even if he is not banned... we can effectively quiet the noise if enough of us ignore him.

Not just posts, but entire threads disappear with ignore.

I usually don't support the use of this feature. But there are exceptions to every rule.

And JBJ... you are old and you are going to die and meanwhile I will be teaching my children that people are people and it is not important who you love but that you love.

Your hate is dying out. It is headed for extinction. And that's not democracy.

It's evolution.

At the same time, there is at least one prominent religious leader in CA who opposed the measure:

ONE? The entire California Council of Churches issued a statement opposing the measure. Anyone who seriously studies the Bible from a scholarly viewpoint would clearly understand that homophobia is heresy. There is no Christian basis for it at all.

VM

People attend church for its social value NOT to be enlightened. Jesus would get his ass kicked out the front door if he walked inside a church.

Exactly.

As was true during segregation, there never was and still is not a gospel reason to condemn homosexuality.

There are gospel reasons to condemn promiscuous behavior, adultery, divorce, greed, discrimination, the building of wealth beyond that needed to support oneself... and most importantly, the perversion of making religion into an institution which is public rather than private, institutionalized rather than personal.

Yet they quickly ignore all of that.

There is one place in the gospels where Jesus of Nazareth loses his temper... and it is because of the corruption of man intruding into the worship of God.

Beware, all you churches that supported Prop 8.

YOU are the ones changing money in the temple. You better hope Christ doesn't return tomorrow... cause you won't like what he has to say.

BELEGON

So far 27 states have voted on gay marriage and passed laws against it. Even California doesnt want it.

Move to Massachusetts.

Excellent plan! How do we do it?
I don't know yet. There's a brand new-elected DA, though, might have mentioned something...

(ETA) might not be possible, in fact. but this is only the first day I've really looked into it.

Are you sure of that? I haven't been to church in a long time, but I remember in 2000 seeing advertising all over the walls saying to vote against gay marriage. That was a Baptist church, by the way, and Baptists tend to be independent.

There are objections in the OT about homosexuality, such as the stories about Sodom and Gommorah. At the same time, a lot might have been lost in tanslation. That was not intended to be a pun.

You are obviously as ignorant about the bible as you are about politics.

I am looking for a lobby to remove their tax-exempt status, if they want to meddle in secular politics.

I well remember in the Sixties, during the Civil Rights Movement, the churches were stongly in favor, and got involved, even in some ballot initiatives. There were rumbles about taking away their tax-exempt status, but nothing even close to that ever happened.

Oh, Box.

Little, easy-to-understand words, okay?

A LOT was lost in translation. On Purpose. WHY? BECAUSE THE CHURCH POWERS WANTED TO MAKE HOMOSEXUALITY A SIN!

SIN is good, if you're the church. keeps the money rolling in.
