Leaving marks

I'm new to posting here, but have been around awhile reading. I have a question of my own that I'm pretty sure some of you can answer.

My Master spanked me with a wooden ruler today, which somehow we've never gotten around to using before, and right now it still hurts to sit but what I'm wondering about is how long it will take for the dark red marks to go away. A day or days? I've never had them like this before from anything else we've used. (And I'm not too sure I want him to use it again!)

How long it will take for the bruises to fade varies from person to person and whether they are superficial or deep tissues ones.

In my case, I notice that the redness of the bruises and welts right after the play is no indication of how long they will last: some that were very red the following day, faded away in 3 to 4 days, while area that didn't look much affected at the moment turned dark purple and took more than a week to fade completely.

If you want them to fade faster, I remember reading somewhere that arnica jel works, and also tooth-paste ... but don't trust me on the tooth-past as I've never tried

As for rulers ... they are bitches ... especially the bamboo ones ...

I agree with rida that it really varies from person to person. I bruise easily, so even a hand spanking leaves bruises but I have a friend who doesn't mark even when her Master whips her hard with a cane.

Thanks for the tip. I suppose it's not really a problem how long it takes for them to go away. I don't bruise all that easily, and have never from his hand. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, that ruler really was a bitch! Ouch!

I noticed this morning that they are even deeper red, so I'm guessing it will be awhile.

Just to show how a belt bruise progressed over the first 3 days, I've attached a picture (the bruises were made by a leather belt).

The red faded away in the following days while the purple size increased a bit more before taking about 10/14 days to fade completely.

I love the marks which are left and can be a bit sad when they have gone.
I used to bruise much more easily but over time it takes more and more to bruise me - I guess my skin is more used to it.

I love the bruises Master gives me. Whenever I have any I can't seem to stop going to a mirror just to look at them. Such a sad sack!

I tend to bruise easily - and it takes a while for any marks to fade as I have olive skin.
If you're looking for something to make the bruises fade faster, try Arnica cream (it also comes in tablet form, but I haven't ever used them).

The dark purple is just the deep bruising coming to the surface.

Everyone is different, everyone heals differently. I played with a sub last year and while he turned bright pink during play, the pink faded within minutes. I wanted to leave marks on him so badly.. took 3 beatings in 24 hrs to leave marks that lasted.. and he was telling me at about 16 days he could still see faint marks when he showered.

I like seeing them, but it's not a requirement for me to leave them behind.

I'm definitely turning dark red/purple, and He's loving it. But I think I'll go try to find the arnica cream/gel anyway. I've turned red before, and he's used a belt that left marks, but nothing ever like this.

And I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one in this world that enjoys this. I've been to the mirror about 50 times since yesterday!

Oh gosh I so understand that!! It amazes me how often I have to go check it is still there. I so love the bruises.

Me too, and especially the soreness when I sit because it's a reminder even when I'm in public that can make me blush. He also likes to squeeze my ass in public when he knows it's bruised.

I bruise easily and have generally found that redness lasts 24-48hrs and bruises usually develop over a couple of days and then take 7-14 days to completely disappear.

I got my first marks last weekend. It was great. Didn't take much to make them (a short cupping session) and I can still see them a week later. I doubt they will last another week, but I know with regular bruises, like from when I bump into something, they tend to last a long time, with remnants being visible for 3 or 4 weeks--they look like shadows at the end.

I bruise like a ripe fruit, so naturally I mark easily to the delight of my partners. I completely agree being marked is a wonderful reminder of how the bruises "got there" and I relish having them.

Just recently, while playing with a friend, I glazed over at some point in subspace and begged him to mark me. The next thing I remember were his teeth sinking deep into my flesh and his forceful, pleasurable sucking that seemed to go on for hours.
When we finished playing, he sheepishly grined at me (he is a DOM-in-training) and said I might want to go look at my neck. It hadn't hit me until then that he marked the most accessible spot on my body at the time. When I went to look, I had a deep nasty and quite painful bruise on the base of my decolletage. Part of me was mortified- the other deeply moved and proud to wear something so personal and intimate.
We have since played together a handful of times, and in each scene I beg for him to mark me somehow. He is starting to get the hang of it in a DOMly sense and sees it as a reward for my good behaviour. Wearing your PYLs marks is a good way to remember each scene and transport yourself back to that moment, if only for a second or two.

As far as "removing" bruises, my grandmother taught me years ago to use white apple cidar vinegar on a gauze pad. Apply a WACV soaked pad to the effected area immediately after the injury for 20 mins. Somehow it lifts the bruise and shortens the healing time. Although, with such sweet bruises I don't see why you'd want to remove them... relish in the pleasure they brought him by leaving them there.

i did the same thing to record the cell popping MAster did on me, from its original burn to the point where it was scarring

i dont bruise easily. i bruised the first time Master and i were together, from we think his grip on my arm. sicne then the only time ive bruised to my knowledge was from some pretty intense bites. and then only sometimes, its notable when it happens. i do scar easily though, even a light cutting scarred, and the light brand caused by cell popping most definitly scarred..

Pecisely how I feel. During the next few days I'll post some pics of one of my gf's red bottom after my spanking her, and the heel marks she left on my stomach and chest after she trampled me in high heels while she pleasured herself to an intense climax. Those heel marks usually last for two weeks and I revel in them, and so does she. They are are precious reminders of a mutualy very wonderful and loving activity.

After a day or two I decided I didn't want them to fade too quickly, because as you said, it's such a pleasant reminder of that time together. It took almost 10 days before the bruising finally faded away and I've asked him to please do it again, but he's making me wait now, despite the fact that he took great pleasure in it. I can't enjoy it too much, you know, considering it was used as discipline.

I welt easily but don't bruise easily.
If my skin gets broken, I will retain a darkened skin mark for quite some time (month or two), but it will eventually disappear, as I don't scar easily.

If it stay like this, I guess it is good: I get to see the result of play easily but do not have to worry about permanent marks. On the other hand if I wanted permanent marks I'll have to figure out what works (not the case at the moment).

Would love to see the cell popping progression as I am thinking to get myself a kit

When I bottom I almost expect marks.....but that may just be part of my masochist ways. As a Sadist, I enjoy giving those marks....they make me smile.
