We hope this is merely an elections "clearance sale", as they say in Egypt. In other words, merely an elections lie.

As you know, this is the farce of elections, a person lies and lies to people, just so that they will vote for him. And afterwords, when they say to him: "You promised this and that, he says, "No, this was just elections propaganda."

This is the farce of democracy for you.

I don't mean that one. I mean the Youtube reference where Khadaffi is referring to Obama, in affectionate terms, as his African Brother". That was the one you didn't include in your post.

Given that Alaska is the most socialistic state in the Union, and Palin has done nothing to change that (why would she, since it would make her unelectable there), I think that it is safe to say that her conservative credentials lack credibility.

Mind you, that's fiscal conservatism of which I'm speaking. The Republican Party isn't the party of smaller government anymore. It's the "compassionate conservative" party of the religious right and corporate welfare. It's a pro-business Big Government party, whereas the Democrats are a pro-lawyer Big Government party. That's about the only difference anymore. The social conservatives have won. This nomination confirmed it, once and for all. And cost John McCain my vote.

Not that I'm backing Obama, either. Not sure who I'll vote for, but he or she won't be a candidate of one of the two parties. They might say that a third-party vote is a wasted one, but I differ now. A wasted vote is one given to one of two parties, neither of which share your core principles. The GOP has come full circle. It doesn't stand for me anymore. And the Dems never did.

Khadaffi is referring to Obama as his "Brother" which is saying there is a close and affectionate relationship between them. In other owrds, Khadaffi considers Obama to be a friend. Whether Obama returns thae friendship is another matter, and I doubt if he does.

I do not believe that Obama has any kindly feelings toward Khadaffi. I don't know about the reverse, but it seems as though he does.

All I have said is that there are some who believe that Obama and Khadaffi are friends. This was said in response to a previous post on this thread, and I included some links that might explain why some people have that idea. I have no hidden agenda. With me, what you see or read or hear is what you get. If I say it was a hot day today, I mean the temperature was well into the 90's or higher. If I say I write smut, I mean I write smut.

As I have said several times: No, I don't believe Obama harbors any warm feelings of affection for Khadiffi. Khadiaafi may feel affectionate toward Obama, or he may be just lying about it. Personally, I believe that when you refer to somebody, who is not an actual relative, as a brother or sister, you are expressing affectionate feelings toward that person.

It's crony political play from Khadaffi. Khadaffi, just like Saddam, is not great friends with islamic fundies. Cause they want power, and Khadaffi is not keen on sharing. He wants to downplay the "death to America" image, shift focus away from him being an oppressive dictator and play the part of modern statesman to his base and to his closest north African neighbors. Also, if he can get on the good side of America, he hopes they western world will conveniently look the other way at his human rights violations, like we do in for instance Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
