Sex and Spirituality

Hello everyone, I stopped coming here because it looked like everyone abandoned the place. Although I was not a regular by any means.
*grin* as I have little interest in sex these days I do not indulge in thinking about it. Spirituality on the other hand is a wide open topic. I think that and enlightenment is determined by the individual. A warm hello to all who frequent this thread.

I too have been busy. Work and playing tag with Tropical Storms and of course riding when I can.

Oh and I have been working on a Bookcase.

I have also been annoying and threatening family members, dealing with my fathers illness and going to a family reunion. Oh and I have also received a ring from my wife for our anniversary.

And yet I have been watching this forum hoping my friends would come back.

How's your father feeling?
Oooh, what kind of ring? And happy anniversary to you and the Mrs! How many years?

My father is doing much better. Slowly recovering but he's recovering.

My wife and I have been married for 16 years now. Somehow it doesn't feel that long.

The ring she got me was created by the Bradford Exchange. Let me see if I can find a picture of it.

Yay for your father!

Hubby and I will be married 9 years this year, but we've known each other for nearly 12.

I like your ring - I think it fits you!

Just got back from my 1st piano lesson! We inherited a pre-1900s era piano from the in-law's neighbors (it's in great shape!) and found someone to teach adult lessons. I played clarinet in junior high but started band late so I never really learned to read music, so I "ear played' for almost 2 years... it's kinda fun seeing what I remember.

I didn't know this thread was here...

I am odd because I am a practicing liberal Catholic... I attend a beautiful Jesuit parish and I have been to confession today... I feel no personal guilty for using this site, nor any drive to confess or guilt over masturbation.... I tend to look at sex through biological truths...
I do have lines that I draw for myself, I won't knowingly get involved with anyone in a cyber relationship who is married and I have only ever had two partners in real life, an allergy to latex also limits my choices.
The church that I go too does talk about the importance of life both anti-abortion and anti-war, with a strong bend towards peace and justice... personally I would never have an abortion but I don't believe in making that choice for other women...Contraception is a matter of personal choice and is never mentioned at my parish but as couples most stop at two children, it is obvious that Catholic women in the UK are controlling their fertility.

Hi Emma :) I was wondering what you meant by biological truths. Do you mean that sexuality is an innate mechanism and therefore an integral part of us? By that meaning, how can there not be a spiritual side to it as we are all creatures of creation?

The Rev has not been here much lately. *grin* maybe if we make the topics enticing enough we can bring him here regularly.

Well I am re-reading "the Source" by James Michner. In it he has two of the main characters talking about the old testament, especially Deuteronomy and the differences in the popular translations. For example the King James Bible, The Douay Bible and the Talmud.

Now I have read the Kng James Bible and the Talmud and have noticed differences between them, yes even in Deuteronomy. Has anyone else noticed this? How about with the Douay Bible?

Thoughts?

Emma - Welcome!

Gi_Venus - *waves hiya!*

Cat - I've not read the Talmud (...does this mean I'm a bad Jew? ;)), but I'll have to give it a look over. I've got a Jewish bible plus one that i used in my "Bible as Lit" class in college.

What is a bad Jew?

I am by birth a Protestant, (on my mother side) a Catholic, (On my fathers side and yes I was Baptized) and Jewish by ancestry. So what in the hell am I? I am me! (Although my beliefs tend to be more of a newer age Jewish like that practiced in Isreal right after it's creation.)

Let me know what you think.

Well this was just plain disturbing.

Has anyone here seen "Obsession, Radical Islams war against the west"?

It's a slick piece of propoganda labeled as a public service/educational film.

Talk about a hate film.

You terrorising these hallways again? ;)

Anyone out and about tonight?

I'll be here later on. (Getting ready to have dinner here. Smoked Beef Roast.)

Hi all!

I'm here, just busy busy busy! It's "Count Day" for schools here in our state, so all my monsters (aka, students) were in class today. That was 200 students, plus 20 staff members in a building REALLY designed to comfortably hold 150 max. Ugh!

I started reading "Farenheit 451" tonight. It's pretty interesting so far...not sure if there's a spirituality side of it, but then again, I'm only about 6 pages in :) Anyone else read it??

I have read it and find it interesting in a disturbing way. Not too much spiritual in it, unless you find something inside yourself. On the other hand it is an interesting way to pass on a warning about becoming too unbending about your beliefs.

So Cricket, how did you find the book?

I have been busy down here in southern Florida. I have been working on my bike and may have finally found the problem. (We'll see tomorrow.) I have also been cooking up a storm.

As a matter of fact today I made Stock.

Okay, I know a lot of people make stock but mine takes a while.

In a large Stock Pot dump in any and all bones you have handy. Today it was half a dozen Beef Marrow Bones as well as two Ham Bones. Mince a Bulb of Garlic and a couple of Onions, toss them into the pot. Dig in the fridge and see what's in there. Hmmm some slices of ham that haven't gone bad, into the pot. Some Roast Beef, thick sliced thank you and smoked well. Sliver and toss into the pot. Hey here's some chicken wings. Yep, into the pot. Here's the leftover Liverwurst Dumpling Soup from yesterday, you guessed it into the pot it goes. Grab a handfull of dried Chilis and crush them into the pot. A palmfull of Sea Salt. Now add a couple of gallons of filtered water from the tap. That's right, a couple of gallons. Fill that pot almost to the top. Turn on the heat and walk away.

Now every hour, if you think of it, stir the pot and then go away again. Just et it cook and boil all day.

Now I started this stock at 0800 this morning. I only turned off the heat when we had to go to a meeting this afternoon. (We were gone for two and a half hours.) As soon as we got home again I turned the heat back on and gave it a a stir.

Now it's coming up on 2200. I have turned off the heat and the pot is cooling. In a bit I'll ladel off what is left into a bunch of one quart containers, pouring it through a coffee filter as I ladel it. (This is going to be broth/stock so I don't want any solids in it.) AS soon as the stock is in the containers they will be put in the fridge to cool/chill overnight. Tomorrow morning these containers will be removed from the fridge and the grease caps removed. Only then will the stock be frozen for use later on.

I use this for many things. Cooking rice in it is a favorite. I also do the more mundane things like making soups from it.

Hi, just poking my head in the door......

I hope everyone is doing well and feeling fine. Hey there Cat!!

Stopping in to say "Gobble Gobble, Gobble, Happy Turkey Day."

I just remembered that one of my old Thanksgiving sermon audios from back when I was a student is online...I was guest preaching at a church down in Pompano Beach Florida...

Internet Archive: Details: Gratitude and Gravy

I give a metaphysical interpretation of a recipe for turkey gravy in it...

Enjoy.
