Good to see you again too. :) And the Maev-inator? Is she still around these stomping grounds somewhere?
*sigh* there are many who are missing these days.:( Hello RomanticLass, Cricket and Cat.

Hey all!

Finishing up the end of school year stuff w/ my 10th graders. It's been intriguing this year to say the least. Fights...hormones...tough kids...really great days...really rough days... but I guess that's the life of a teacher, huh?

Cat - didn't make it through Farenheit 451, just kind of put it down when teh new semester started, but I may pick it back up.

Lass - I haven't talked to Maevety in a while, but I know she's "incognito" on Myspace.

Hi Gi! :)

Cricket - good luck with the end of the school year - do you have a count down posted yet? :p Oi. Tenth Graders. Bless you. Thank goodness SOMEONE likes 'em. :D Today was the last day of the "program year" at church, so things will settle down a bit for a while. I'm beyond thrilled!

Hi Gi, how's it going?

Belphegor

In demonology, Belphegor (or Beelphegor) is a demon who helps people to make discoveries. He seduces people by suggesting to them ingenious inventions that will make them rich. According to some 16th century demonologists his power is stronger in April. Bishop and witch-hunter Peter Binsfeld believed that Belphegor tempts by means of laziness. Belphegor originated as the Assyrian Baal-Peor, the Moabitish god to whom the Israelites became attached in Shittim (Numbers 25:3), which was associated with licentiousness and orgies.

Belphegor is the demon of ingenious discoveries and inventions. His name appears to be a corruption of the biblical name Baal-Peor, an idol worshipped in Shittim by the Israelites (Numbers 25:3). This worship may have involved sexual rituals conducted with the "daughters of Moab," suggesting that Baal-Peor was a fertility god. As is usually the case, there is no connection between the qualities of the demon Belphegor and those of the god Baal-Peor, even though the name of the god inspired the name of the demon.

Baal Peor is a Moabite god, which service included sexual acts.

Hosea remarks on the Baal Peor event in Hos 9:10, and it is clear that the Israelites defiled themselves there with abundant fornication and sexual perversion. All leading translators steer timidly clear from this name, which basically comes down to Lord Spread'em, or Lord Hole.

According to Genesis 19:30-38, the ancestor of the Moabites was Lot by incest with his oldest daughter. She and her sister, having lost their fiancés and their mother in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, decided to continue their father's line through intercourse with their father. The elder got him drunk to facilitate the deed and conceived Moab. The younger daughter did the same and conceived a son named Ben-Ammi, who became ancestor to the Ammonites.

Somehow I missed this post please forgive me. Hello Romanticlass, I am fine I think. lol. I seem to be a caregiver, I am taking care a few people, my child, my mother, a sick friend on dialysis for years. I do need to take better care of myself. Struggles with anxiety accent all this. I have an evolving relation with God that was absent for many years. I have been using Zen Buddhist ideas to calm my crazy life. Lol and I have to take my mother grocery shopping bye for now. *hugs* to all

Man I miss the discussions we used to have on here. It's influenced so much of what I've done since then. I learned so much from everyone on here, and the questions asked forced me to dig deep into so many topics... And mostly I miss the people who were a part of this great discussion group. <3
