...people I know on the net.

I have yet to meet an Aussie I didn't like.

I'm constantly surprised by the reticence of the few Germans I've met.

I'm surprised and delighted by how many Yanqui are ordinary people.

I always have and always will be flabberghasted by Scandinavians' command of the English language.

I was not surprised at all when the politest person on the AH turned out to be from India.

or that the feistiest and most forthright person I've met was an Indian.

Canadians, as I suspected, have always been even more English than Aussies. (but at least Aussies drive on the proper side of the road)

As an afterthought, have I unknowingly met any French, Chinese or many, many other nationalities?

I definitely think that Scandinavians are the best type of foreigner. I once said that and my friends perceived that to be a racist comment. I don't know how that can be.

Now another thing... I was reading Pauline Fowler called somebody Oriental, and that Oriental is now a racist term. I never know that.

I'm just constantly surprised by how we all are so much like each other. I have found like-minded people from all over the world. I'm better friends with some I have never met, than some of my closest real life friends.

But what would happen if you met them. That's the other question.

I did meet some of them. :)
It was wonderful.

So have I.

And Impressive said it best. She said that every person from Lit she'd met in person was just as they appeared online.

That is so very true.

:)

(I'd certainly love to meet gauche.)

I never met a Euro who didnt wear a beret, need a shave, smell of stale sweat, and smoke cheap cigarettes....especially the women.

Stereotypes...people I know on the net.

Stereotypes... general...

Swedish people actually do tan and so does Barack Obama.

Jamaicans do not talk like Brad Pitt in "Joe Black".

London is really New Delhi.

There are ugly Americans in Europe.

The Portuguese are more polite than Canadians, they're just louder about it.

Latin men really do walk around with their shirts open and with chains hanging across their hairy chests. (you don't know my baker!)

I have, and he is exactly as he is on line.

That's been my experience, too. I'm sorry that Australia and New Zealand are a 20+-hour plane flight away, because it would be cool to go there, but 24 hours on a plane -- just say no!

That's how we sucker you in - be nice and friendly online until you overcome the urkness of 24 hours on a plane....

I would dearly love to meet some (nay, many) of the people I've met online. I'd cheerfully throw myself on a flight from hell for it, but the cost  not in this lifetime :(

unfortunately I lumped the New Zealish with the Aussies. The New Zealish are delightful.

Without quoting.
Galiouse(sp) are a good smoke.
The French call them 'beanies'.
You haven't lived until you've made love to a woman au naturelle.
Stale sweat. Hmm. To be honest I've never met a single person that didn't smell of sweat. It's what people do.
You haven't met many Euros.

I'm not sure if 'exactly like' is a compliment, Whereas 'the surprise' is exactly as mysterious as I try to be.

Cerise, are you claiming a different nationality? I'd love to know.

I've only ever met Dutch people in any number in RL and I have to agree with Weh, Scandinavians (from a severely limited perspective) are the best type of foreigner.

Sarahhhhhh. it's 'piqued'.

Now wouldn't that be amazing? If and/or/when one of us wins the lottery to pay for everyone's air fair and hotel and the entire AH get to meet up.

Chuck, I heart chuck.

i too have always been amazed by how well scandinavians speak english, i applaud you, most americans dont speak english that well. I know i probably dont.
