Are There Now 18,000,001 Cracks Now?

Baby steps, people. It only makes sense that a woman be VP first and then president. We had to start small and work our way up and this fits in with that.
The pick itself is not an insult. It's a move forward. The reason for the pick however...

It's unreasonable to expect to run a marathon before you have run a 10K.

Using school pics against her is stupid. Last I knew all politicians went to high school and I'm pretty sure some of them actually went to prom and maybe even were king and queen. Sorry that people think being attractive is a bad thing. I guess that's some new standard that I didn't know about.

Are you sure, Lavy? I could have sworn I heard you call in on NPR.

You best get over to hillaryclintonforum.net where the women are voting the vagina ticket, not issues. They need your advice.

Reading them now and I feel ill.

So no woman here thinks it's wrong that she is being picked on for being attractive? Nobody sees the sexism in this?

Fucking idiots.

Reading them now and I feel ill.

I tried to say in the thread yesterday that this would happen and nobody wants to believe it.
Woman will vote for women, blacks will vote for blacks, white males will vote for white males.
It's not universal by any means but it's enough to change an election.

They're not going to play with her anymore fairly than they did with Hillary.

A black President is THAT important...

Women go first!

For a party/philosophy that brands itself as the party of personal responsibility, you sure do whine alot.

So Sarah is going to get the rough treatment Obama never got...Hmmm, interesting. Because everyone is for Obama and against the Republicans. Do you ever listen to yourself? You sound like a whiney, spoiled child. "Wahhhhhh, the teacher likes so and so better than me....wahhhhhh."

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the Right is angry and frustrated that they can't get anything substantial on Obama....and this takes away a major weapon of theirs....attacking the opposition. See, if the Republicans can't attack, what the hell will they run on? Their Record? Bahahahahahaha. Look at the last 8 years, they haven't exactly been a case study in good government.

For a libertarian, you sure spend a lot of time sucking the Right's ass.

I think you're just afraid to admit that the people you have been cheering for suck.....and suck bad. It's easier to claim you voted for someone with no real chance of winning, that way you can sit back and claim that you didn't vote for them. Sounds like the definition of a coward to me.

ahhhh, Im sorry. Im not that fickle and I wanted desperately to vote for Hillary.

And judging from the responses of the women in this thread, you're dead wrong.

So will you vote for someone based on that assumption, or do you just hold such low regard for others?

And you think Hillary is that qualified? She is a two term Senator who had to choose a state she could win in by using the Clinton name. If she had not been Bill Clinton wife she never been a senator. There are many other women in politics that have made it on their own accomplishments. And being married to the President does not make you presidential material or qualify you for the job. Next time you get surgery have the wife, or husband ,of the doctor perform it. The same analysis apllies to Obama. It not so much Tokenism that the issue here, it that we are all just being marketed too instead of really voting on the issues and policies. Both parties are doing it.

How qualified was Bush? He ran Texas into the ground and bankrupted nearly very business venture he was involved with. Now there's a stellar resume. With your strong belief system, I 'm sure you didn't vote for Bush.

Let's be honest here. You won't vote for Obama because of the D next to his name. And you will make every excuse to vote for McCain because of the R next to his name. Why don't you just admit you are partisan hack? We can't possibly think any less of you than we do now.

I just registered at the Hillary Clinton forum. I have a question to ask them.

I do not like where she stands on the issues that concern me.
Therefore, I shall be going for the others.

Too bad people can't get past their fears and prejudices. Maybe one day. A woman president or VP will happen, but it is disturbing that people will vote against or for someone solely on the basis of race or sex without consideration of issues and what the candidates stand for.

I tried to do that yesterday, but never got the activation email. I had a question to ask on the Palin thread myself. I'd be interested in knowing where you post your question there. The one I was originally reading was 'Sarah Palin is McCain's VP selection!!' in the Main Room.

Kudos to Lasher for pointing out that Palin lied through her teeth yesterday about the "bridge to nowhere." The media gave her a first day pass, but if she pulls that again in the debates, she's cooked.

...Only this time Cheney is a woman with a life story that will make Barack pale and Biden stutter...

Oh please: bill her as "the female Cheney." Dick Cheney, the man so popular he'll be speaking as the GOP convention gavels open, and then will immediately be sent to Azerbaijan.

The comparison is completely stupid, of course: Cheney served 6 terms in the House (where he dealt with things a little more pressing than renaming streets), was White House chief of staff, and was a wartime Secretary of Defense. Palin was mayor of a one-stoplight town and has been governor for less time than McCain has been running for president.

Okay, let me preface this by saying that, like most people, I have no idea about this woman.

However, who could McCain have picked that wouldn't have led to such a thread (aside from picking Hillary, I mean)?

If McCain had picked one of the people from, say, one of Limbaugh's lists, it would have been business as usual.

If he picks a black man or a woman, the word "token" is out before the Veep candidate even has had time to shake hands with their new running mate.

Obviously anybody he picked would have gotten criticized by partisans, but not everyone would have been knocked for being unqualified. In one of the other threads, I even listed Republican women who would be qualified to be VP and thus to be President. Of course, there's a much smaller set of Republican women who are also anti-abortion, and Palin seems to be the most prominent one. That's the only reason she's there: she won't piss off the God Squad that tells their candidates what to do.

I know what is going to bother lavy and the lib women the most, but thay can't come out and say it.

They vote lockstep Democrat over the one issue, abortion. With the Democrats the men who say the right thing and with the Republcans, you get men telling them what to do with their bodies, and then here's this woman, with a mass of fetal tissue that should have been aborted after their long hard struggle to make it an accepted practice.

Now, here's a woman, a woman who made that choice and made the wrong choice, and they are afraid of that profile in courage. You can debate about a bridge all you want, but you can't debate her love and respect for life.

Name one fucking person who actually believes that. That may be the most full of shit thing you've ever posted, and that's saying a lot.

Women didn't vote for Geraldine Ferraro. And if it was enough to change an election, Hillary would have won (there are more female Democrats than men), and women would have been on tickets all along. The sexes aren't bloc voters.

Palin gets the snake handlers excited, but they weren't voting for Obama anyway. And I suspect a lot of Middle America is going to wonder what the fuck is up with Trig, Track, Willow, Bristol, Piper, Gravy, Spruce, Lava, Cornbread, Zirconia, and Exxon, the lovely Palin children.

I voted for Bush , I voted for Clinton before that:mad: I will vote for McCain:mad: I vote on the issues which always leaves me just about half wrong. I do the best I can in compromising, which sucks, but I bet your a life long Democrat??? Hipocrite?? If the Democrats would stop this JFK wanna be shit, stop all the social intervention crap, balance the budget and defend all the bills of rights I would vote for them.

I got the activation mail now I'm waiting for my account to go through moderation, whatever the hell that means.

"balance the budget"... and you're voting for mccain...

Hilarious.

Please ask them for me whether it's now acceptable to refer to women as "cracks".

LMAO. I think I'd get my nads ripped off.

I was going to ask them why they are so happy about Palin that they're going to vote for a pro life creationist.

I assume that forum is only for those curious people who were warning Obama not to pick any woman who wasn't Hillary, but are now thrilled that someone who isn't Hillary will be nominated by the Republicans.

There are a few PUMAs who really are Democrats (one of the most famous ones is a former candidate for the House from my area), but most of them are Republican fronts out to fool the media into thinking there are more disaffected Clinton supporters than actually exist.

Ferraro wasn't running right after a woman very narrowly lost the nomination of her party and had a bunch of pissed of supporters. Had it been the same then she would have made more of a difference. Probably not won but certainly a much better showing.

MSNBC was all over that as soon as it happened.
