Birth Control Defined as "Abortion?"

I mis-read the opening sentence (next to your AV :cattail:) as This is rather sexy and was just about to agree when...

isn't almost time to drive zealots back into their holes to practice doctrine on one another?

No, that doesn't work for them.

They only get all zealot-if-ied if they can force, I mean help, others.

You guys are too fucking much. If Bush ordered sushi for lunch, you'd say he was selling the country to the Japanese. And if he said grace before eating it, you'd say he was ramming religion down your throats! Get a freaking grip.
If you don't give a shit about actually protecting the freedoms we have here, why be proud to be an American?

Well, as that wonderful paragon of True American virtue Anne Coulter said, the First Amendment doesn't apply to liberals.

None of the other freedoms do either, I imagine.

"Freedom is a worship word"*

*rolls eyes* It's better to worship the constitution as an American institution than it is to actually read it -- if you read it, you might have to do something inconvenient, like allow freedom of religion, speech, and assembly.

*Anybody remember this quote from Star Trek's "Omega Glory"? I swear, a lot of conservatives are acting just like the debased humans from that episode....

P. S. -- Cute new AV, Sarah!

They dont know that abortion is eliminating future criminals. We need to push this angle.

Sell it as preemptive lynching.
You got it all wrong. Sell it as, "abortion is eliminating future Democrats." Then it'll be illegal so fast it'll make your head spin. :D

Well, we no longer need the anti-intellectualism thread -- this is proof that anyone who pays attention to actual facts is unwelcome in Bush's America.
And that those who disagree with Bush only know how to call names and wish he was dead. Yep, intellectualism is dead. :)

I wish this religion-bashing were as vehement against the radical Muslims in the world as it is against Christians.

I have no problem with someone worshipping whatever god they choose and living their life according to whatever self-imposed restrictions they decide to follow.

I have a VERY REAL problem with being told what I can or can't eat/wear/read/watch/do/listen to by people who seem to feel an overarching need to meddle in other people's lives.

I don't really care if it's Muslim or Christian. If it tries to impose arbitrary rules on how other people live their lives then its bad and should be rejected.

I see so much more than that. It's possible however, that any discussion with any depth, or one that touches on more than two positions, sounds like pure gibberish in the ears of many of our citizens, what with the limited vocabulary fed us by the media.

I don't see any sweeping, backsliding bills getting pushed through various legislatures by Muslims, do you?

But sweeping backsliding bills by Christians are good. Those by Muslims are bad.

Next thing you know you'll be telling me things aren't black and white. And then I'll have to think.

I don't like thinking. ;)

I think I've just now figured something out. The anti-intellectual movement didn't exist back in the days when many people where uneducated-- and knew it.

Now, I think, we have millions of people who've been through school, but were not actually educated-- and don't know that. We know our letters and math, and the preamble to the Constitution. We've been told, by our advisors, that we are just as smart as any Yale graduate.

But-- if that's so, how come we can't understand that damn Yale grad when she talks?
It isn't our fault, it must be hers.

That's brilliant, Stella! That makes an awful lot of sense.

*sigh* With every new post you make, you just confirm my desire to marry you and have your babies. :)

QUOTE]

Big guy. White hair. Weird animal-skin tunic. Really deep voice. Bad delivery. And the next part of the quote is, "You will not speak it!"

How about, "I emptied four phasers and still they came!"

Wow... takes on a whole new meaning on Lit, don't it?

:D

Oh, that's rich. A liberal pinhead talking about "freedoms"! What about my freedom to carry a weapon if I so choose? What about my freedom to keep the money I earn? What about my freedom to hire or fire somebody because I do or do not like the cut of his jib, color of his skin, or direction his wiener points?

What about my freedom to display a girly calendar, or the Ten Commandments, or a Joe Camel poster in my place of business? What about my freedom to run a bar or restaurant and allow my patrons to *gasp* smoke a cigarette? What about my freedom to put a manger or a Christmas Tree on a town square at my own expense?

Don't talk to me about freedoms, you liberal pinhead hypocrite.

The answer to that is simple. He, like the others, think that freedom entails the right for him to do as he pleases and to STOP you from doing what he doesn't please. Freedom, you see, is just as malleable and subjective a concept as porn.

Hire and fire -- you mean your right to visit your racism on those around you?

Tell you what-- you start helping people fight for rights you personally don't need, (since you aren't black, or female,) and I'll help you fight for your incredibly important Joe Çamel poster.

You selfish, small-minded man. Taxes, that's what it always comes down to with your sort.

Weiner pointing?

Ssshhhh! It's a trick of the trade known only to consummate female HR professionals (whether a man "dresses" left or right, you know...).

Odd that Carnevil would use it, though. Methinks he doth protest too much!

:D

No deal. I'll fight for my own rights, and others can do so as well. I don't infringe on anyone's rights, so I feel no obligation to fight for them, either. Don't like it? Well boo-fuckin'-hoo.

That's the American way!

George Custer, and Alfred E. Neuman would be proud of you..

That's the American way!

It used to be, yes. Now that we have the compassionate safety net of the welfare state, more and more Americans are finding it easier to sit on their ass for generation after generation than contribute something to society. Are we better off? I'll let the audience decide.

But you do see the moronic PC police aiding and abbetting right? Calling anyone who points out that the terrorists are young muslims guilty of hate crimes or profilling?

Oh, yeah-- The same old clown dance.

C'mon Carny, get your beer on, and give your spleen a rest. You'll have to pay your taxes no matter what.

A little education is a dangerous thing..

Muslim terrorists are often young men. That does not mean that every young Muslim is a terrorist, and it does not give anyone the right to make that assumption.

I've seen that assumption at work, when two HINDU men were attacked because of their turbans.

Hindu and Sikh men wear brightly-colored turbans, unlike Muslim men. But those ignorant, racially-profiling, hate-speeching, rock-throwing fools didn't know and didn't care.

so, yeah. Giving the morons of our country limited information-- is criminally dangerous.
