hi guys, been on here a while, finally met someone(not from the site) who is very dominanat, and not full of bull(hard to find in a man lol!!!) hes very dom and bringing out my sub side more as i trust him more. which im loving!

thing is, the other day he asked me if i wanted to try breath play, i asked what it was and he explained. i tried it first wehn i was on top, and to my great surprise, i relly enjoyed it, he only did it for a little while, taster session. but later on, i was begging him to do it again, while fucking me. he obliged, but i was clear it wouldnt get to the point of passing out, which he respected. i enjoyed the lightheadness feeling, as well as feeling totally under his control and it was my deepest foray into this area so far. i was totally surpised i liked it, and actually needed him to do it again, was a lot of fun!

thing is, now im thinking about the whole passing out part of breath play, while im not quite ready for that step just yet, or maybe will never be, but im very curious about it. what happen when you pass out? can it do long term injury to your brain? and just how dangerous is it, do you still breathe while you pass out?how long does it last?

answers much apprecitated! may seem silly questions to some, but im a newbie so be patient lol!

If you search breath play on here you will find a ton of threads. Short answer though..yes you can do long term damage. You can have brain damage and you can die from it. It's a choice many of us still make despite this..but I'd say it's really important to be educated before you mess around with it.

You will breath if you pass out assuming he has let go, and no major damage has been done to your airways or artery's. Although sometimes people have just stopped breathing permanently. How long your knocked out depends on the person and the situation.

There are reasons they intubate you and have someone monitoring your respiration when you're having surgery, there are reasons there are funny paddles on the walls.

It can be done without causing permanent damage. It can be done many many times without permanent damage, but, it only takes one time for it to go *very* wrong. You can do all the research you want online and with books. But, i would *STRONGLY* recommend that you do research/training in real life multiple times, and, preferably with somebody with a *TON* of medical training. Then, do the same thing with somebody else who has a lot of experience to get another view. Some get a lot of experience and training, and, they promote that it can be done safely every time. Others get a lot of experience and training, and, they say that the very next time you do it somebody can incur permanent damage or death.

And, at some point it becomes personal. If you are the "victim", is the thrill worth the risk of death? And, if you are the one administering the breath play, could you live with yourself (if society let you) if you killed somebody?

I wouldn't risk it. Yes, some people can do it with no adverse side effects, but you don't know if you're one of them until you try it. And what if you are the kind that can't do that? Then you're dead or brain damaged. It's not worth the risk.

And this is coming from someone who LOVES breathplay.

Also, you need a safe signal if you're going to do breath play. Frankly, it's hard to talk when you've got a man's hands around your neck. I snap if I'm getting scared or worried about blacking out. Their's also balls with bells in them, they're for kittens but work, that you hold. If you pass out or get scared it drops, and warns your top that something's wrong.

i'm someone who has passed out several times from having my breathing restricted by a partner, either by choking with hands, suffocating with some object like a pillow or towels, or forceful throat fucking. while very traumatic events in the moment, i'm still able to walk, talk, and read and enjoy Walt Whitman. but then you have others who black out just once and are vegetables for the rest of their days, or never take another breath. you really never know and there's no way you can make such an activity risk-free. you just have to be aware of the potential consequences, even the very rare but scary/permanent ones, and either you or the one who owns you makes the decision whether or not to go forward from there.

thanks

You know, OSG, it's official. You're fucked up. You like Walt Whitman. ;)

Having a D-type that is a physician means no breath play for me. He is far too aware of the dangers to go there. He will do things like pinch my nose shut when I am gagged or otherwise unable to breath through my mouth..but he will never place anything other than a collar around my throat.

Finally! Someone sensible! :p

Never could stand Walt. Can't tolerate asphyxiation play either. Might be a connection, I dunno.

It is nice to see people get all risk-aware on these threads though. I don't even think I need to drag out that old Weisman article again.

I don't like Walt. Or Emerson. Or Thoreau. *Shudder*

I do love breath play, though. I like things you really shouldn't try at home, so I don't talk about it much.

Humph.

The other two are dull as fuck, but Brooklyn Ferry makes me cry every time I read it.

I also like bagging.

There is no 'safe' way to play with your air supply, period. It is however, risk manageable, to a degree. Did you ask the guy how much experience he has or what he has studied about breathplay? It's good that you're here asking questions but he is the one taking your life in his hand.

IMO pressing on the arteries/veins in the neck is a very bad idea. It causes light headedness faster and any trauma to your jugular vein (which runs close to the skin) or the carotid artery is potentially lethal. A compromise of sorts is to cover the mouth and nose, thus interrupting your air supply without pressing on the delicate neck area. Another form of breathplay is simply to be told to hold your breath until you either feel faint or are told to breathe again. Both can be just as effective with a reduced risk of harm.

If you have any kind of neurological, respiratory or cardiac problem, I would really not even dabble in this. The risks in that case are far higher.

Pretty much. Each of them hit on some good language here and there, but not my bag overall.

Yeah, me too. Hell, I do knifeplay above the shoulders. Naughty.

thanks for all the advice, can i just say we played with him covering my mouth and nose, not my throat, i would never allow anything around my throat. does this make a massive difference? im quite healthy and have no breathing problems, but i guess youre right, it could only take one time for it to go wrong...

It makes some difference. Constriction around the throat is quite dangerous for various reasons. By leaving the throat alone you cut the risk of blood vessel trauma, nerve compression, soft tissue damage, etc. You still risk brain damage if you go to the passing out point though, as well as depressed cardiac function.

So it's not safe, but it's not as bad as hands around the throat constricting. Bad stuff that.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of any of them, either. *shrugs*

yeah, but it's so much more fun and HOT to have hands around the throat. :D

Kissing through a plastic bag you're holding over their head has its merits.
