This does Obama nothing but good. Helps him tremendously by distancing him from the radical end of the civil rights movement. It won't cost him any black votes and will only gain him white votes.
Look, a lot of racial issues are going to shake down from the tree in this election, one way or the other. There's just no way to avoid it. Might as well get it started now, and Obama has positioned himself exactly where he should be, politically and morally. He's one of the few people who can say that. Jesse Jackson has been marginalized for the last ten years.
