Many people in AH were respectful to me when I decided to write a sarcastic view of racism from an African-American perspective, and how some members here, not just in the AH, but throughout Literotica.com, practice intolerance and subtle racism. Some thought the discussion did not belong on Literotica, but all are entitled to their own opinion in that regard. I am a serious journalist, and I take pride in the work that I do every day. Because my SO is white, I get a lot of grief for that, from both blacks and whites. I know that because I brought up this issue, I have been mocked and further insulted, and that’s okay too. If a store won’t serve me, I just move on. The discussion started okay, but then some woman, who moderates another forum on this site apparently, starts referring to me as another username, and the last time I checked, my daddy drove a chevy, not a Rolls.

Someone in the AH thought that it would be cute if they dragged a whole other forum into the AH, whose posters are not what I would consider to be professional journalists, to pile on and join in with further racial slurs, of the kind that provoked my discussion on race. Then, this Ms. PrincessGoddess (some valley girl apparently with more money than brains and a very rich daddy, who I actually spoke with on the phone this past weekend) comes storming into the AH threatening legal action, posting legal briefs, etc., then I get further targeted for more racism.

I did not start anything in the AH. Just as the Little Princess got falsely accused by that other moderator, I was targeted by the same woman. Stop comparing me to anyone, please. My SO, tired of the BS, came in and started dropping F bombs on people while I was out doing an interview, and I do not have time to serve as counselor, therapist, priest, or anything else to him, or anyone else here.

I am very disappointed. I am disappointed that people who call themselves journalists are not capable of respecting others who have a different shade of skin. I am disappointed that not enough adults stepped up to have a real interaction and discussion.

When I got home, I told my SO to stay off my computer. I don’t need him or anyone else creating problems for me.

I never got treated this way at any Black Journalists Association gatherings. It seems a pity, 8 years into the new century, that there are just some things that won’t be resolved in my lifetime, because people can’t, or won’t, talk to each other.

I hope that I can interact with other journalists who don’t want to slur me. I guess I will see if that happens. That’s all I needed to say. All this crap has given me a pounding migraine. If you don’t have anything nice to say to me, then just go take whatever need you have to be offensive, and dump on someone else. For a free speech site, it doesn’t operate that way. More like hate speech site.

But really, I want to know why one writer is going to knock another writer over their race by using terms and phrases that are designed specifically to offend, and then get others in these forums to join in.

I was pretty horrified to see another writer (I found that out yesterday) absolutely set upon by many of the people who will read this for doing nothing more than promoting a hypothesis, and challenging someone to prove her wrong. All of those who decided to have a hand in running her out of here never really did address her comments.

No one called me a monkey (as I was called about 80 times on this board yesterday), or any other racist comment.

First of all, the people in AH are not a racistic bunch of people. We're a close-knit group who like to play around and tease each other and newcomers, and some people are scared off by this. Others are not, and they grow into the gang as well.

If you look at the beginning of that thread you started about racism, perhaps you'll notice that some of us - I know I did - TRIED to have a rational discussion on the topic, but you never answered any of these posts. You instead copied and pasted, copied and pastied, and kept calling people bigots and racists left and right.

OK. Someone called you a monkey. Perhaps that person was insulting your race. Perhaps he or she was insulting you as a person and didn't give a damned about your race. I don't know. Monkey can be pretty derogatory for white people to be called, too, just like "bitch", "pig", and "cow".
If it WAS intended to be a racial slur, then it was bad, and I think we all agree with you on that. If it was personal, then it's really between you and that person, and not something we want to get involved in.

My point is, you didn't take a serious discussion with us. You flailed around complaining about racism and how people had insulted you, and we got fed up with your attitude and your boring repetition of what you had already said 3 times before in the same thread.

So we did what we always do. We didn't yell "get the F out of here, you cry-baby!". We made fun of you. We made fun of your ridiculous way of arguing. We compared you to princessgoddess or thought you were her alter ego because you both behaved like little kids who's got hold of daddy's computer when mom and dad are away. And on cue, up pops a completely new persona - how convenient, we thought - and start showing off and telling people how smart he is, and isnult people left and right, telling them how bad writers they are, how no-one is as smart as him, etc. I believe his words to me were "fuck off and die, bitch" - and, well, them are fighting words, missie!

In short: we're not attacking you or ridiculing you because of your race. We're doing it because we think you and your SO are behaving like badly-raised little kids. If you want to have a proper discussion with us about racism in today's society, you're welciome to do so in a grown-up way, and I can guarantee you'll be treated as one in return. Continue to insult us, and we'll continue laughing at you.

I hope you'll be able to read this and actually take it to your heart, instead of ignoring my messages like you did on the other board.

This post sounds like it is coming from a completely different person.

On the first thread you were amazingly rude, attacked everyone here, (which was interesting because most of us had no clue who you were in the first place. We were just trying to figure out what in the hell the thread was about).

Don't look for support here now. I doubt you'll get it.

You know, I don't get special treatment in the news room. If I file late, it's my butt on the line and no one else's. I don't get the luxury of jetting to Aspen, or California, or wherever that prima donna (I have other words for her, but I'm trying to keep it clean) is off to next on her next wild crusade that daddy's gonna pay for.

I've had a man, living in my place now for a while who has his own issues. I have one user name, the one you see here. I'm not here to make friends, or enemies, just conversation.

I know. Like I said, that woman from the other forum came over here and accused me of being some snotty nosed brat, and I had no idea what she was talking about. I've tried to tell her about 5 or 6 times, I think, but she is only believing what she wants to believe. I don't care what someone is doing shopping, or jet setting; I'm just trying to pay my bills with a recorder and my computer.

If the job I have isn't good enough for you (chasing tragedies, covering city council meeting, etc.), then I guess I don't measure up to you. But I can only pray that she will buy into the fact that I don't wear Prada. I wear Gap. And I wish that she would take her battle to her opponent, not me. I don't have a dog in that fight.

YOUR posts were rude. How can that be blamed on another woman?

Now I see I have something else to straighten out. I will have to go and try and find what else this soon to be NOT my SO has said. It seems that I have had an enemy in my own home. I do take what you say to heart. It's taken me a long time to develop a good reputation for getting the story right. If this man has done me any harm here or elsewhere, I will tell him to pack his bags tonight. We aren't married, my finances are my own. I don't need his money to live. If he said or did anything to offend anyone that I don't know about, please PM me. Someone is not telling the truth in my own home, and it ain't me

If, and it's a very big if, you really are a journalist you should have some idea of how to approach people to get the information you want from them.

You should also know that how you make that approach will colour what you get.

There is little point now trying to smooth the waters. Your original approach was rude, brash and antagonistic. It was also poorly aimed antagonism.

That is what will be remembered. Any chance you had of garnering the trust of the people here has been squandered.

She just sent me a PM asking for help.

createashemale insists she is not PrincessGoddess, nor any of the other alts that were there (WitMaster, HowardTheStern) or trolls that were there (Breaking_News ) on her first thread (the one about racism).

http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=600246

She also insists that it was her boyfriend who was on her computer when she was not there, that he had been logging in as her, and she just found out about it. Hence her confusion about what was supposedly happening on the thread.

This whole thing began in the BDSM forum, I suggested she go discuss matters with the moderator there (catalina_francisco).

That's all I know.

I have to agree with Starrkers.

I read the thread. It was not clear in the first post exactly what the problem was, or who the problem was with.

I was expecting clear examples, especially from a journalist, and I was ready to champion the author's cause. The post was interesting at the beginning:

Racism: Unbelievable surprise at Lit
Oh, I know, can you believe that? Just like taking a black friend of yours out for a business lunch and having the greeter at the door saying, "OK, we have a table over here, but I'm afraid that your black friend will have to go to the kitchen to have their meal. We don't like niggers in the front; it's bad for business."

But quickly began to ramble:

And I actually believed that writers of any stripe would not be using the racism card at a forum for authors, let alone something that might have to do with sex, but I get surprised every day at what I find in the world.

Writers are not a race unto themselves. Writers are indeed people, with individual flaws, beliefs and everything else that encompasses the HUMAN race. Being a journalist, the flaws of human beings should not come as a surprise. Hell, being a human being, the flaws of other human beings should not come as a surprise. (IMO) I also don't understand why the expectations are higher because this forum has to do with sex. The world is the world, doesn't matter what venue.

For the record, simply posting on a forum for authors does not make the person an author.

I'm not sure where you were going with this:

Yep, I've been the only black writer in a press box filled with whites before, too; in Augusta, Georgia, no less. I got the looks, the stares, people backing off as I walked by them, afraid that this light skinned African-American, who looks more like a white person with a bad tan, was going to rob them, or show booty, or who knows what.

To be honest, it sounded like you were looking for racism and, lo and behold, you found it. Amazing what you can see if you look for it hard enough. Unless you are an accomplished mind reader, you have no idea what these 'whites' were thinking, and are only putting your own biased spin on the situation.

Based only on the above quote, it is entirely possible that these 'whites' were checking you out, taking your measure so to speak. It's my understanding that journalism is a very competitive business, and knowing your competition is vital.

You really go off on a tangent here:

But really, I want to know why one writer is going to knock another writer over their race by using terms and phrases that are designed specifically to offend, and then get others in these forums to join in. How is that advancing the art of writing? I don't know...I guess it is possible that perhaps those who proclaim they are from European countries might be Afrikaaners from South Africa or white farmers who were forced out of Zimbabwe, and have lingering bitterness over their predicament.

We, the reading public, still have no idea what is happening, we just know that you are angry and it has something to do with your race. Where is the example? Where is the statement that whatever was said would be advancing the art of writing? Then you make your own presumptions.

But if you are actually, under some kind of exceptionally weird coincidence, an African-American reading this post, the racism part was not the worst thing that I have experienced or witnessed on this board, at least to this point.

Why on earth would it be 'an exceptionally weird coincidence' for an African-American to be reading a post on a forum on the World Wide Web?

Sweetie, racism is not likely to ever be the worst thing you experience or witness in this forum, or in life for that matter. Welcome to the real world.

I was pretty horrified to see another writer (I found that out yesterday) absolutely set upon by many of the people who will read this for doing nothing more than promoting a hypothesis, and challenging someone to prove her wrong. All of those who decided to have a hand in running her out of here never really did address her comments.

Example? Link? (Don't need it now, someone else pointed me in the right direction to investigate your horror, but that's not the point.)

All that was done was the same thing that was done to me: Basically a bunch of KKK types, probably in pressed robes, toting guns, sitting in their pickup trucks with Nascar stickers on the bumper, up on blocks in the front yard, teleconferencing each other as to who would take the next shot at being personal and offensive. People, people! Please, if you feel like you must insist on being such "closet racists", then do us black folk a favor and at least show up at the conventions with some kind of flag on your tshirt that has stars and bars on it. This way we can at least know who you are and try to determine how big this scourge is that still exists today.

Oooh, now the presumptions and your personal expectations get deeper. Honey, you sound racist yourself. Whether you are or not is moot. The point is, by this time the chip on your shoulder is clearly visible. Yet you still show no support for your statements. 'Us black folk'? I would rather hear someone say, "People, people! Give us HUMANS a break and let racism die!"

I've got no clue what your point is here:

Myself, the person who was run off the site, her father, all of us were just incredibly confounded at the whole process. Black folk buy books too. Now granted, there are a number of us who are not interested in Donald Rumsfeld or Cheney, or even David Duke for that matter; although I would venture to say that there are plenty in the audience out there who either read their writings, or listen to their speeches, and are in total agreement with their assaults on black folk. I think the power of the purse is a great thing. I strongly believe that if you promote racist thinking, race baiting, the mob mentality of the "get that nigger crowd", then you should not have your works available for sale in the major book chain stores like B & N, Amazon.com, or any of a number of other places. Black folk like myself could find use for your kind of books maybe for kindling for my fireplace, but really; I would rather use a much more well known writer like David Brooks, or William Crystal for that.

I'm not black, but I'm not interested in Donald Rumsfeld, Cheney or David Duke. I couldn't care less what any of them had to say. The power of the purse is indeed a great thing, but you know what? So is the power of Free Speech! You remember what that is don't you? It gives every American the right to say what they want to, whether it be verbal or written. I don't agree with racism, or the racism mentality, but I'm also against censorship, no matter how justified it seems.

By this time I'm sick of having the fact that you are black shoved up my nose, and down my thoat. I don't care that you are black! You could be purple with green polka dots, and that wouldn't make me care more! While I was initially prepared to champion you against an ugly hearted person, I no longer care.

Now, I have not had the circulation of a Clarence Page, or many of my other fellow brother and sister journalists, but the people who have read my work have never really had any comments on my race. No one called me a monkey (as I was called about 80 times on this board yesterday), or any other racist comment. Many people look at me and don't know that this is my racial heritage. I know that it's hard to tell that Paula Abdul is black, and it is probably exceptionally difficult for the white people, who most likely have only seen her on American Idol. Yet, neither of these people are being called "monkey". by their peers. Where does this come from?

Hmm... people who have read your work haven't commented on your race? Could that be because you don't pound your race into the reader in your work? Could that be because your work stands on its own merit, and race doesn't enter into it? Could it be they don't care what your race is?

I'll reiterate here that I don't care what your race is. I don't care if Paula Abdul is black. I've known from my first encounter with Paula Abdul that she was of mixed ethnenticity, but she doesn't shove it in your face.

Personally, if I were to be called something I considered a racial slur, I wouldn't consider the person using the slur a peer.

I have an idea. Since you folk like stereotypes, let me throw out some. Just for a fun, good 'ol time, with all of you good 'ol boys.

'You folk'? 'Us black folk'? Like to categorize much?

These are only speculative thoughts, but taken from actual reasons given for violent assaults against African-Americans. Ready? Ok, Mr. WASP, Super Racist you:

Did not make the varsity basketball team as a senior in high school. You shot 45% from the field, but did not even make the reserves, because a black player came in as a freshman at 6"10" and 265, and they needed a presence in the middle, and the other shooting guard spots on the team were held down by 19 year old African-American seniors who didnt graduate with their class.

Lost your white girlfriend to one of those other shooting guards on the team.

Tried to date an African-American girl at the community college you were attending, but got told that your package just wasn't big enough.

Lost the last scholarship place to go to Stanford, which was why you were in a commiunitty college to begin with.

While, in my opinion, these are not a legitimate justification to beat the hell out of someone, I can empathize with the anger behind it.

The only reason the black player made the team was because he was black? If he were a better player, by all means take the spot. He was born black? I cry bullshit!

The other events... sounds like the guy is having a very bad run. I'm sympathetic, but would still send his ass to jail for the assault.

Ok, I think I proved my point. See, not once did I actually use an animal reference in that display of farce.

I know there are some good folk around SOMEWHERE in this place. So, where are you?

Actually you proved nothing, other than you are a very angry person and use your race as a crutch. I don't even know what your point was to start with.

Here you go, so you know why this thread was born:

I had experienced an act of overt racism (calling you the slang word for a primate, when you are African-American, is BIGOTRY and RACISM), and as an actual writer, decided to put my thoughts into a well written opinion piece on racism inside Lit. This has nothing to do with the BDSM people. They just decided to come over here, because someone on this forum, like several people on this site, thought that they could do the chain thing, and I would just go away. OK, I'll make it plain...WHITE FOLK, THIS BLACK PERSON IS NOT LEAVING. Clear enough now?

Having seen brief references to someone calling you a monkey, I think you overreacted a mite. Maybe he shouldn't have called you a monkey, but you blew it out of proportion and made a mountain out of a molehill.

'Well written opinion piece'? Hate to burst your bubble, but that was in no way well written, and I would expect much more from a journalist, or any writer. It was, in truth, a rambling rant with no point beyond venting.

Yep, clear as mud. You had to take one more opportunity to shove your race in the face of every reader, regardless of race.
