A Question About Interracial Stories

Why is it that black girls always have pubic hair? In every story with a "black chick," the girl has always had bushy pubic hair, and to be honest, it sort of kills the whole story for me. Is this just some odd stereotype, or is it true to life?

Interracial stories are full of stereotypes...it's annoying.

Is it even true that EVERY black girl in a story is depicted as having pubic hair? That would seem to be the easier of the questions to answer.

If it wasn't full of racist stereotypes, what would be the point of putting it in a specific category?

Then it would be a story about people having sex, and their race would be no more insignificant than any other physical feature, like height.

The mere existance of an Interracial category implies that there's something kinky or taboo or at least out-of-the-norm for people with different skin colors to get it on.

I've written three stories with interracial coupllings. None are in that category. Because a) their color didn't matter - the characters just happened to look black, white or whatever when I wrote the story, and in one I ended up not even mentioning it (but the dude is still black to me, dammit), and b) because the Interracial category is infested with racist stereotypes, as well as readers looking for them.

Just curious... Why do you read interracial stories? Since the clichés obviously annoy you...what else is there?

Despite the point and draw of IR being the difference of culture/skin/language, the strength in IR stories, as with "regular" stories , always lies within the characterizations and their narratives. The author will most likely fetishize certain aspects according to their tastes or fetishes, and those aspects are often easier written when they're more widely accepted stereotypes.

Also, it's not exactly a Rosetta Stone prerequisite, but you can tell who's actually BEEN in an interracial relationship versus those who are just projecting their template-ready fantasies when they put words down. I know many Black women today who shave or trim their pubes on the regular, but back in the day, like in the 70s, virtually nobody did that because the aesthetic wasn't quite there. If you were a grown woman, you had a bush. Now, maybe some non-Black person wishes to fetishize the kinky hair aspect of Black people up for sex' sake. Nothing essentially wrong with that, but I would enjoy the story so much more if variety were reached for instead of those rote template stereotypes I mentioned eariler.

For example, if I have to read one more IR story where the neglected White wife meets a Black "playa" in "the club" named "Tyrone" and he cuckolds her in front of her lesser-endowed White husband after seducing her without nary a struggle, turns her out and then pimps her out to his "boys" on a regular-ho basis, I'm gonna scream.

I think Tyrone is going to be a little ticked when he hears you are campaigning to cut him out of his cushy action.

Somebody should tell "Tyrone" that he can get all the interracial action he'd ever want just going to the local Body Shop store than "da club." :D

And now you're trying to expell Tyrone from "da club." You are in a heap of trouble, I think.

Not when he finds out how much money he's gonna be saving from not going every single night as all playas named Tyrone do. You do know how much a bottle of Hennesey costs, don't you? ;)

Tyrone ain't any good if he pays for anything on his nights out.

The very existance of this catagory really irritates me. Why does it need a special catagory? Why should there be something kinky or even different about having sex with a person of a different ethnic background? This isn't 1950 any more for fucks sake.

I'm genuinely interrested: Is there any other reason to specifically seek out interracial-labelled erotica other than to cater to some kind of closet racism?

Because readers look for the sterotyped categories to channel their reading interests. This is a commercial porn site, not a university philosophy studies classroom. (Coming close to saying "duh" here.)

The reason is, (or mine, at least) that some want to see or read something that mirrors their own lives, not just a usual given of Biff and Mindy White having good ol' fashioned "regular" sex. Some of us are in interracial relationships in real life and since we are basically all just people first, it is highly refreshing to read something that speaks to "us" that doesn't have to lean on the crutch of stereotype to give it erotic power. Not being naive about the erotic power of stereotypes as they are accepted by default of deliberate and lazy ubiquity.

There are always exceptions to the expected rule, though. I've read many very well-written, highly erotic and non-cookie-cutter IR erotica to know that when people want to go beyond the gate of the typical and expected, they can.

Interracial does not always have to equal Tyrone at the club fucking a White man's wife while speaking slang all the while and only comes out at nighttime or little submissive exchange student Yumiko who can't speak english very well and has a tight hairless pussy. There are many facets to this, of course, and even though we don't have to call it interracial to begin with, it would be nice if the label's paradigm could be shifted from the negative to a progressive positive when being used. This is completely possible.

I'm with you. And what I really dislike the damned stereotyping that goes on in the category. Worse yet, if you write a story that doesn't conform to the sterotype, you get downgraded for it. I won't even write there any more.

I can see where it started but I just think it's a relic of a bygone era. (Or at least an era that should be gone.)

I mean I have a thing for asian women as I think every one here knows. I've long admired them as some of the most beautiful womn in the world. But having said that I don't want a whole catagory for that. Perhaps just put in 'asian' as a keyword or something so I know it's in there. But it's not the whole driver behind the story. And if it is then it's back-click city.

Different ethnicities adds flavor to the story but it alone is not the main course or even really a side dish, not for me anyway, it's not nearly filling enough. It's more like just one of the spices. And spices dont get their own section in a cookbook.

Oh. Bravo! Nicely put! And a very good question. If you don't want the stereotypes, why bother with IR? I've several stories with mixed races and not one is in IR because I think such cliche and outdated fantasies are really boring. The well-hung black man (Yawn!--With apologies to Tyrone).

Also, it's not exactly a Rosetta Stone prerequisite, but you can tell who's actually BEEN in an interracial relationship versus those who are just projecting their template-ready fantasies when they put words down.
Too true!

Not that I can see. When I was still new here, I saw the IR cat and thought, "What the heck?" as I happen to be in an interracial relationship and couldn't see why it would be such a big deal as to deserve it's own category. So I gave IR a look and, in my innocence and naiveté, couldn't quite believe it. It was really like I'd gone back in time, from submissive Asian girls to blacksploitation African-American men and women.

Who's hanging onto these old, dusty things? I mean, in the end the answer is a no-brainer--look at any category and there are simple minded fantasies from the happily-ever-after minded men and women of the Romance category to the stereotypical busty, dumb, blond cheerleader or brawny, hyper-sexual jock. A good many people want their erotica like they want their action movies, simple to the point of stupidity. The bad guys in black hats, the good guys in white.

I recently put a story in that category ("Descent into Chaos") because it thematically fit that category regardless of what others have made the category. It was an "in your face" placement. And other than one idiot who said I should have covered the consquences of having an interracial baby produced (a truly idiotic comment for what that story was covering--it was all about doomsdaying any consequences), the story has faired well.

I suggest that if you have a story you think fits there better than other categories, go ahead and damn the local residents of the category. You're just as likely get comments of "wrong category" no matter where you place it.

Well, I do see one kind of interracial story I could read (and with interracial story I mean a story where race mixing is the main theme, not just a coincidence). And that would be a story about racism, and how people overcome their own or challenge it in other people.

That wouldn't exactly be an erotic story, as in a story about sex.

You could of course fill it to the brim with gratuitous fucking, I'm all for that. But it would still be a story about racism.

Well, yes, although an auxiliary theme (to the "damn the consequences" spiraling down into chaos central theme), that's what the story I posted to IR was about. Oh, and sex, too of course.

And, come to think of it, flipping back to the sweeping generalization of the thread initiating post, it has a black woman--and it says nothing about her having/not having a bush.

I posted one there because it was a group sex story with people of many races involved and it was rated the lowest of any I'd written. Mind you, not a single person wrote a comment of any kind, just a fair number of votes and an average under 4. Everyone in the story was happy, no one was exploited, an African American cutie was engaged to a white guy and the entire gathering approved. Go figure.

I have interracial sex in several of my stories, but in the context of the story not as a prominent theme.

I have no intention of posting any stories in that cat either, since I think it's fairly blatant pandering to people's racist sex fantasies. All peoples.

Just sayin...

Not on this site, though. If they can't get LW straightened out...

I love situations where two or more people end up together in some unexpected way. For me, this could be a butch dyke topping a gay man, or a white girl falling in love with the black leader of a funk-rock band-- who has issues about other things besides race -- and finding her expectations flipped around again and again-- as are his.

But I can't see posting it here in IR . (His name is Tracy, by the way ;)

Sorry for being late to the party, but it is only morning here.

And I am still hung up on the original question.... Now I have been out of the country for awhile, and clearly some significant physical changes have taken place since I left.

When did women of any other “race” stop having pubic hair? Is this a shaving question?

Now I admit to not having personal knowledge of their pubic regions (well, maybe one or two), but based on the number of women I have met in Europe with hairy legs and armpits, I am going to take a flyer and guess they have "bushy" pubes, as well, whatever their skin tone.

But, to be fair, I must say all the Russian women I have slept with (no more the several hundred, I am sure) all have shaved parts. But then, maybe that is just because those are the women I am attracted to.

"Excuse me, may I see your pubic region to determine my level of attraction to you?" being my standard pick-up line here.

I also honestly admit to not reading stories in the "interracial" category so I cannot respond to the basic assertion....because, well, I am not sure I "get it" either when it comes to the category, race being pretty much irrelevant to my sexual experience.

Being normal, I generally stay in the Incest/taboo category. :D

The history of interracial sex in America is interesting and surprising.

Before I examined it I bought the conventional wisdom that Massa was boinking all his slaves, but the CW is wrong. The real culprit was Massa's daughter or his white, female indentured servants. The Irish girls were fond of dark meat. I found some newspaper notices from 1859, where white girls eloped with black servants and went North.

Black women werent sexually appealing to white men. BUT when a woman was Quadroon or Octaroon, they were very attractive...like Mariah Carey is. And so Massa went to New Orleans to water his horse.

Oh, snap. My Lady Bashirah story was about a black guy and a white pagan high priestess. It went into Mature for the first chapter and then right into Erotic Couplings for the rest. I never asked for it to be put in or taken out of the interracial category, and it never was classified as such.

I didn't even think of that until you posted this. Thanks, Liar. I'll need to make sure my future stories (and I have a BUNCH sitting on another website and about to come here) meet that bar, and not by accident.
