Waiting for news

We haven't heard anything down here yet. If no news tonight then I'll try calling tomorrow while I'm in work.

Got home from work and found a message waiting for me on the answering machine. It was my mother returning the calls I had made while in work. She had just returned home from the E.R. where she had taken my father.

Now this is good and bad news. My father has been dragging his feet on this, probably hoping it would just get better. Too bad my mother finally had enough when he got up and had to sit right back down again because of vertigo. He is weak and tired, He gets vertigo when he stands up. He has lost almost fifty pounds.

The bad news is that it has come to this point. The good news is he is now in the E.R. and he will listen to the M.D.'s. I personaly am hoping he will be admitted and the surgery he needs done right away.

One of my nieces is now at my parents house after driving my mother back to the hospital to be with my father. She will inform me as soon as she hears anything.

Hope everything goes ok with your father, cat. :)

Kudos to your mother for being persistent and getting him the care he needs.:rose:

Please keep us posted on his progress.

Thoughts and prayers with you all! I've had the surgery - it's not bad at all and the recovery was quick and easy. I don't miss it a bit! The longer he puts it off, the more discomfort he will be in until he can no longer delay - making the whole situation more complicated as he continues to lose weight, nutritional status declines, resistance decreases. Continue to follow up on those symptoms, though - they don't all sound like they are necessarily related to the gall bladder issue, but I hope he has the surgery and it resolves his problem. It doesn't just go away, though. If it took him to the ER, it's time to do something - if for no other reason, maybe he'd agree it will make it easier on your mom and family.

Good that someone can be with your mother now, too.
Keeping the good thoughts flowing your way.

I'll remember your dad in my morning chat with the east. :rose:

Just talked with my parents. My mother is at home and my father is still in the hospital. They have absolutely no idea what the problem is, although they do have some ideas of what it isn't. Tomorrow he has an Endo to check out the entrance to the Biliary Duct.

I was able to get some answers from him about tests being done on him although not the exact information I was looking for. He could only pass on the information they have given him.

It is so frustrating sitting here and not being able to get my hands on the information or be able to talk with the R.N.'s and M.D.'s taking care of him. (Translated I'm about ready to bite someone.)

The only good news is he is feeling a bit better and is now eating a little bit.

Glad for the good news. Any chance your parents would give permission for you to speak directly with the doctors & nurses? That may actually benefit all of you in trying to understand I interpret what's going on - and they are available by phone (out of biting range.)

Best wishes for your dad's recovery, SeaCat. I know people who've had their gallbladders taken out. They haven't missed them.

Hope it all gets clearer soon, Cat.
Still sending good thoughts (and extra patience ;)) your way.

If there is no news tomorrow then I will be asking for this permission.

This is your typical Good News Bad News situation.

Frustrating as hell.

So my father is to be released tomorrow. All tests are negative, although the Blood Tests are still showing that his liver is not removing the Bilirubin from his blood correctly. His Gall Bladder and Bile Duct are clear.

He had a Biopsy done of his liver today and will have to wait 48 hours for the results.

The only ideas the M.D.'s have right now is the possibility that he is one of the few that have a side effect from a medication he is taking for Gout.

Now it is more waiting.

One good thing is that one of my Nieces is there for my parents. (She alone out of my Brother, Sister and their 10 kids.)

The bags are still packed down here and we will wait on the results of the Biopsy.
