Waiting for news

Well, that's good news...I guess.
Is there an alternative to his gout medication, if that's what's causing it?

Fingers crossed on the biopsy.

Yes there are alternatives. Unfortunately, many of our elderly are on older remedies that they've been on for years and have greater side effects than some of the newer drugs. But doctors tend to think leave it alone if it's working instead of reviewing to ensure the best possible meds are being given. Hopefully, they will find this is the problem and give an alternative medication. It just takes some time to find something new that works without having any serious flare-ups. Continued prayers, Cat...

Thanks all, still waiting. He goes in for the Biopsy results tomorrow.

Not much to report. His Biopsy report hasn't come back yet according to my mother. He is home and is eating a little bit. Still weak but he hasn't lost any more weight. It's starting to look, (without the Biopsy results,) like it was caused by a medication he was taking. We shall see.

Got a call from my mother today. She found the paperwork my father received from the Hospital on his discharge and freaked out. It listed his condition as Liver Failure.

It took me a bit to get her calmed down as I explained that this is a grab bag name for several conditions. SOme good and some bad. Without more information I have no idea what type he is going through.

I gave her a list of questions to ask my father, specific blood test results, and told her to have him either call me or E-Mail me with the results.

Yes I am concerned, I need some information. (As does she.)

I'm getting close to the point of heading north and ratteling cages.

Good Cess to your father, Cat. :)From what you have said about him, he sounds like a guy I would want for a buddy.

It's difficult to absorb all the info that's pressed on you when a loved one is in the hospital. Most of the time, the family member hearing the doctors diagnosis, and the patient themselves, are tired, in pain, worried, etc. It's just not a good time to try to make decisions, yet that's when the most important decisions usually need to be made. I think you ought to head out, Cat, and not yet rattle cages, but get the info first hand. You'll feel better for it, and so will your parents. Keeping you all in my prayers.

just seen this. (((((((((((((((good Vibes)))))))))))))

Cholestatic Liver Disease with Fibrosis. Now we have to wait for a determination of how far along it is. If the scarring isn't too bad then it can be turned around. Test results have been passed on to several specialists in both N.J. and Boston to see what they have to say. May hear more tonight. (I expected the Cholestatic Liver Disease and the Fibrosis. At least it didn't come back with Chirrosis.)
