Who wants to go on vacation?

I'm totally serious. I'm trying to get into being a home-based travel agent, and I need some guinea pigs for my travel planning skills! If you want to do a personal vacation, feel free to tell me - but really I'm thinking of a group trip! Would anybody have an interest in going with a bunch of other Litsters to Europe, the Caribbean, or anything like that? We can tell/warn local Litsters we're coming and then meet them!

So first let's find out if there's interest, and then we can talk about when to go, where to go, etc. :)

Are you kidding me? This would be fabulous!! I'm sure you could even swing some sort of group rate or discount if you wanted of could find one. WOW, yeah that would be wonderful. Sign me up for any place!!

*puts my hand up* I would be more than willing to go on a group holiday!

*grins* And it would be awesome to meet you, Etolie! :) {{{hugs}}}

So here is a question: Since there are so many of us in so many different places, how are we gonna pick a place to visit that everyone wants to go to? I mean, I would love to go back to Western Europe for the trip, but I'm sure there are those who live in WE that would be just as equally interested in coming here to the states for Holiday.

what do we do then?

Well, I'd love to go, but I don't see being able to afford it; even at a group rate. Plus I'd never go to Europe without the tykes.

But, if I were to go I'd love to see the UK. If I had to narrow it down from there, I'd love to see Ireland.

Well, my expectation is that most people will be from the US. Caz is in Scotland, but I don't know if she's seen much of Europe...cazzie, have you already seen it all? I think two surefire affordable destinations that Europeans could also come along for would be the Caribbean and Central/South America. (Asia, Australia, and Africa tend to be expensive, at least for Americans, to get there.)

So depending on where interested people are from, we can pick that way. My preference would be Europe, but I'd go anywhere! Group travel usually means anywhere from 8-15 people depending on who you travel with, but cruise lines usually mean 8-15 cabins, so that's something to consider.

You all pick when and where and tell me how much I owe. I'll be there with bells on!! How long will these trips last? A week, two weeks, more?

It depends mostly on pricing. Depending on what people can afford, it'll probably be 7-10 days because that's a nice trip but not super expensive. People will have different budgets - not a problem for most travel agents because people tend to have a budget in mind when they decide to travel, but a good thing to practice for my own travel planning experience. One difference between me and a regular agent is that I'm new at this so I don't take a commission...I like to maximize the dollars people spend, not convince them to buy more stuff!

Hmm. I wonder if it would help if people posted what their travel budget looks like. Well, for now, let's stick to expressing interest. I want to meet as many people as possible when we go somewhere!

exactly. this is really cool of you to orchestrate, Etoile. I would be honoured to meet you any place we go. :)

Sounds fabulous but unfortunately I have no money to speak of. But if you guys end of doing this and are gonna be leaving out of NY or someplace nearby, let me know!

Bunny, Yeti, and I were just talking about trying to plan a vacation to somewhere in the Caribbean the other day.

Cool beans!

Excellent! So that's one vote (or is it three?) for the Caribbean! Or would you be okay going somewhere else? For the Caribbean, were you thinking of a cruise, or just picking one island, or what?

I cant speak for our OSO's and really I shouldnt speak for Malin..he's at his OSO's tonight. But I think it sounds great. I know Master and I talk about going to the Caribbean, as does Malin and I. Malin and I also want to go to Italy and Greece.. and of course.. if you're still doing this next year and wanna try at personal vacations..let me know.. we're planning to go to Ireland for our anniversary

When?
I would love to go.
No date yet! So far we've had six people express interest in less than 24 hours, so let's see for another day or so if others are interested, and we can figure out who's available when. My thoughts are for either January (for Caribbean/warm climates) or next summer (for Europe/cool climates).

*phew* if you are planning for Januray or next summer, that way I can save up!

Etoile, where did the cazzie come from??? :) Call me Caz and I will be as happy as a Scottish lass! Wait...I am Scottish!! *giggle* Anyway.....

Back to your question, the two places in Europe, I have been to is Spain and France, so anywhere else is fine with me! :)

Not too sure about the Caribbean although, dunno, if it will be expensive for me, but if it's next year, I could save up, as long as I know what kind of a travel budget it would be.

Question...........

Etoile, it is quickly becoming quite evident that not too many individuals here have the opportunities to travel far and abroad.

Any chance of working something out for the out-of-country types brought here to either the east or west coast where the rest of us could meet them?

:rose:
Slainte`

hey cazz...you know that rose there..if it were blue it'd almost pass for one of your thistles.

Hey wait...I know where H lives, but don't YOU live...hey...

Minneapolis, girl.

Yep. I'd take you out to dinner if you were here. Nice place. My fridge. Tofu anyone?
If there's a big reversal of fortune, I'm voting Isla De Mujeres, Mexico.
