Last month, I wrote a story and a fan of this site suggested that I submit it here, so I did. I enjoy utilizing italics in my writing - it conveys emphasis in dialog, which I find to be important in telling a story. Upon reading the submission instructions, I found that italics were not acceptable in the automatic browser-based tool, so I saved the story in MS Word and attached the file according to the instructions.
Two glaring occurences that frustrate me: The italics still didn't show up in the published version, and for reasons I can't understand, the story changed fonts unexpectedly in the middle.
I would have been better off using the browser-based tool.
1. Why can't writers use italics? Is this a difficult option to code into the script of the browser-based tool?
2. Can I remove the story, and then resubmit it in the browser-based tool?
The font change must be annoying to the reader, I know it annoys the hell out of me.
Thanks, in advance, for any input into this issue.
