So what If I look like a douche.

1. Miami Dolphins: Jake Long OT Michigan. A solid low risk draft pick for a team that's got no where to go but up. Look for Ronnie Brown to have a good year running behind that left side this season.

2. St.Louis Rams: Vernon Gholston DE Ohio State. Many think that Glenn Dorsey is the pick to use here, but where the rams need the most help is defensive end. They drafted a DT just last year and this draft is very deep at the D line position. Gholston gives them pass rush, speed and strength at the end. I think they go with Gholston over Chris Long on sheer size and strength alone.

3.Atlanta Falcons : Glenn Dorsey DT LSU. Dorsey is an immediate starter on a team that needs a whole lot of help. Many believe that Matt Ryan is who the Falcons should pick, but I believe they will shore up their defense and try for QB in the second round.

4. NY Jets from the Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden RB Arkansas. I believe the Jets will trade up to get McFadden. They are in desperate need of a game breaker and this could be just the RB to do it.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Chris Long DE Virginia. The son of Howie Long and in my mind the best athlete in this draft. He is strong, fast, quick with great hands and has the pedigree. He's a shade undersized compared to Gholston, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in motor and football smarts. Plus he fits Edwards 3-4 and can play both end and LB.

6. Oakland Raiders from NY Jets: Branden Albert, OG Virginia. The Raiders need a ton of help on that O line. Robert Gallery is a bust. Even with moving him inside to guard it isn't helping him enough. Granted the track suit likes to take flash over substance, but I think he realizes that he's got a lot of money tied up in a very young QB and needs to invest in a line to protect him.

7. New England Patriots from The San Fransisco 49ers: Keith Rivers LB USC. Even though I hate to see another USC alum going to the cheatriots I think he will go there provided they do not trade out of this position. Rivers has much to learn at the next level, but he has all the tools.

8. Baltimore Ravens: Matt Ryan QB Boston College. Matt Ryan many thought would be the consensus #1 overall pick. It turns out that Miami felt that the QB they picked up in the second round last year is worth working with. Ryan is best known for a nationally televised game against Virginia Tech where he miraculously brought his team back to win in the last 30 seconds. He's got a good arm and desire to win. Baltimore is in need of a lot but most importantly a franchise QB with the retirement of Steve McNair and Kyle Boller being , well Kyle Boller.

9. Cincinnati Bengals: Sedrick Ellis, DT USC. Cinci is in a downward spiral and the defense is second in line to be blamed behind Chad Johnson and Marvin Lewis. They lost Justin Smith to free agency and they need as much help as they can get on the D Line that was porous at best this season.

10. New Orleans Saints: Leodis McKelvin, CB Troy State. The best CB in the draft, on paper at least. Personally I believe Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is just as good, but he has only come on the scene as of late and there's not enough game film on him. Both are very capable of being the first CB taken in the draft. This one is a toss up. New Orleans does need secondary help in a bad way. They've been torched for 2 seasons.

Annnnd I'm spent.

I have not followed it this year so much and with the Chargers drafting so late...
I am suprised about McFadden, he has hired quite the PR campaign to prove he is a really nice guy.

Yeah I'm not totally sold on him either, but he is pretty talented. I don't mind the chargers picking late. That means they were a pretty damned good team last year.

A.J. has done an incredible job with the draft as well.
You are right about drafing late meaning success but harder to guess the pick as well.

Look at it this way, there's not many draftees that would make the chargers roster. Which is why i was okay with them trading away picks last season to get Weddle.
AJ is a top notch personnel man. Think about this, the chargers could have been the proud owners of that Michael Vick contract had they not worked out that trade with the falcons back in the day.
Drew Brees
Tomlinson (same draft)
Philip Rivers
Shawne Merriman
Nate Kaeding( I hate to put a kicker int hat list, but he's a pretty good one)

That's a pretty good track record.

Not sure about that prediction.

I think the Rams would rather go with Long over Gholston if they don't trade out to New Orleans who would like to jump up and take Dorsey.

If that happens, Atlanta take Long, if not, then I agree Dorsey.

Oakland seems pretty set on McFadden

But I'm actually suspecting Kansas City to snag Gholston or trade down depending on what happens in front of us. If Long or Dorsey is still there, then that'll be the pick, but I'm not convinced they will be. If they're gone, then Ryan is still on the board and KC would likely trade down with Baltimore. Let the Ravens snag Ryan and we take Clady.

Yep. I'm a football geek too.

I seriously doubt Oakland will draft McFadden. They drafted a running back last year and kept him on reserve for his knee to heal they just gave a guy a huge new contract and still have the free agent backs they signed last year.

A mock draft I saw has Charges taking DB for U of Arizona, I like that pick.

I'm no expert on UofA football, but I'm pretty sure its starting QB will be a senior next year.
If that guy with the mock draft prediction plays fantasy football, be sure to get in his league. Sounds like an easy win.

I considered that too. It's not like Oakland is desperate for a running back, but I don't see how they could pass on McFadden if he's there. Al Davis is pretty much slobbering on himself over the chance to snag him. I can easily see them clearing Dominic Rhodes off the roster and taking McFadden.

I figured Raiders and McFadden too, until I found out/remembered the other backs. If he was a reciever then Davis takes him. Running back I doubt it.

What about Oakland drafting Chris Long?

If the jets trade up for McFadden then he won't be there by the time the raiders pick. He will either go to St. Louis or Kansas City. I'd prefer him to go to St. Louis so that my chargers don't have to face him twice a season.

If he's available I think Al would LOVE to do that.

I don't think so. There's still some bitterness between Al and Howie Long. I really don't want to see him in silver and black. Why can't he slip to the 27th pick??

:D

Because if he makes it by Oakland, KC will grab him.
No way he slips that far, but it would make for a good laugh.

Imagine the drama if Howie's son ends up playing for the Chiefs.

Chris Long is in my mind the best prospect in this draft. He's got all the tools and athleticism that you'd need and he's got the pedigree. No way he slips out of the top 5, but i would love it if he got down to where the Chargers signed him just to keep him out of the rest of the AFC west's mitts. Won't happen but it's nice to think about.
