NFL Draft Predictions.

Chris Long is in my mind the best prospect in this draft. He's got all the tools and athleticism that you'd need and he's got the pedigree. No way he slips out of the top 5, but i would love it if he got down to where the Chargers signed him just to keep him out of the rest of the AFC west's mitts. Won't happen but it's nice to think about.

Well, it's a reasonable bet that he'll end up in the AFC West. That's about as close to the Chargers as you can hope for.

I'm crossing my fingers that he ends up a Ram. let him beat up on Matt Hasselbeck and Alex Smith

That's kind of what I'm counting on too. The Rams are in great need of a pass rusher. Barring a very good offer from the Saints, I don't see them trading out of this spot and I can't see them passing on Long if they don't.

I can see why they would be tempted by Gholston. He's just as good as Long and is a little stronger. Plus he's a a buckeye and has played in some big games. If it were me I'd take Long, however.

Gholston has very good combine numbers, but watching film on him says he's inconsistent. Maybe he works that out in the pros, maybe not, but I think Long is the safer pick. At #2 I'm not sure you take that sort of gamble.

So what If I look like a douche.

1. Miami Dolphins: Jake Long OT Michigan. A solid low risk draft pick for a team that's got no where to go but up. Look for Ronnie Brown to have a good year running behind that left side this season.

2. St.Louis Rams: Vernon Gholston DE Ohio State. Many think that Glenn Dorsey is the pick to use here, but where the rams need the most help is defensive end. They drafted a DT just last year and this draft is very deep at the D line position. Gholston gives them pass rush, speed and strength at the end. I think they go with Gholston over Chris Long on sheer size and strength alone.

3.Atlanta Falcons : Glenn Dorsey DT LSU. Dorsey is an immediate starter on a team that needs a whole lot of help. Many believe that Matt Ryan is who the Falcons should pick, but I believe they will shore up their defense and try for QB in the second round.

4. NY Jets from the Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden RB Arkansas. I believe the Jets will trade up to get McFadden. They are in desperate need of a game breaker and this could be just the RB to do it.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Chris Long DE Virginia. The son of Howie Long and in my mind the best athlete in this draft. He is strong, fast, quick with great hands and has the pedigree. He's a shade undersized compared to Gholston, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in motor and football smarts. Plus he fits Edwards 3-4 and can play both end and LB.

6. Oakland Raiders from NY Jets: Branden Albert, OG Virginia. The Raiders need a ton of help on that O line. Robert Gallery is a bust. Even with moving him inside to guard it isn't helping him enough. Granted the track suit likes to take flash over substance, but I think he realizes that he's got a lot of money tied up in a very young QB and needs to invest in a line to protect him.

7. New England Patriots from The San Fransisco 49ers: Keith Rivers LB USC. Even though I hate to see another USC alum going to the cheatriots I think he will go there provided they do not trade out of this position. Rivers has much to learn at the next level, but he has all the tools.

8. Baltimore Ravens: Matt Ryan QB Boston College. Matt Ryan many thought would be the consensus #1 overall pick. It turns out that Miami felt that the QB they picked up in the second round last year is worth working with. Ryan is best known for a nationally televised game against Virginia Tech where he miraculously brought his team back to win in the last 30 seconds. He's got a good arm and desire to win. Baltimore is in need of a lot but most importantly a franchise QB with the retirement of Steve McNair and Kyle Boller being , well Kyle Boller.

9. Cincinnati Bengals: Sedrick Ellis, DT USC. Cinci is in a downward spiral and the defense is second in line to be blamed behind Chad Johnson and Marvin Lewis. They lost Justin Smith to free agency and they need as much help as they can get on the D Line that was porous at best this season.

10. New Orleans Saints: Leodis McKelvin, CB Troy State. The best CB in the draft, on paper at least. Personally I believe Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is just as good, but he has only come on the scene as of late and there's not enough game film on him. Both are very capable of being the first CB taken in the draft. This one is a toss up. New Orleans does need secondary help in a bad way. They've been torched for 2 seasons.

Annnnd I'm spent.

1. Not a "prediction" since the Dolphins have already signed the guy.

2. No way Gholston goes this high. He's over rated as hell, and if the Rams were to draft him here, the entire front office should be fired. Chris Long should be the pick.

3. Dorsey or Ryan. It's a coin flip. They desperately need a qb, but Dorsey is the best player in the draft, and I'm not sold on Ryan as a franchise qb. I'll go with Dorsey. In large part because I don't want him to go to a team that plays on turf, so naturally, he will.

4. No chance the Raiders trade out. McFadden is a lock. And over rated. He's Willie Parker 2.0

5. Don't have a clue. Whoever they have rated highest at OT. Clady? Albert? They have so many holes on their O-line, it's scary. Again, if they take Gholston this high, the entire front office should be fired.

6. This is exactly where Gholston should go. Helps the Jets pass rush, keeps a p[otential 3-4 'backer away from the cheaters.

7. I suspect they'll trade out of this position if they can, but instead of making up trades I'll just guess they'll take Keith Rivers. Need position, but a slight reach.

8. Yep, Matt Ryan. No brainer.

9. Sederick Ellis. Although everything could change with a Chad Johnson trade.

10. Mike Jenkins. Have to have a corner, and I think he's the best in the draft.

11. Bills pick McKelvin. They need help at receiver, but none grade out this high.

12. Broncos take whoever is left after the KC pick. Either Albert or Clady.

13. Panthers select Williams, the LT out of Vandy. They'd rather get Clady, but it doesn't seem like that will happen. Some mocks have them trading up for Matt Ryan, but there is no way that happens. If they don't make the play-offs and win at least one game, both the coach and GM get fired. A rookie qb doesn't get that done.

I don't think the Ravens are going to take Ryan. One, I don't think he'll still be there by the 8th. Two, I think they'll take a CB in round 1 and Henne in 2 if they don't do some wierd trade thing and get a second first round pick. Either way, Henne second.

predict McFadden will go to the Cowboys and he will suck equally as much as Pacman Jones.

I read that McFadden goes down with first contact... not a great trait.. sounds like Reggie Bush to me.

LoL!

So much for you making your own predictions in your own post instead of taking his and telling him where he's correct or not with added names and comments.

You know, to make it easier to compare and contrast how wrong/right the two of you beanheads are.

I'm going to predict Rashard Mendenhall goes to the Chicago Bears. He's from around there and he'll be reunited with the college coach who initially recruited him, Ron Turner.

I read that McFadden goes down with first contact... not a great trait.. sounds like Reggie Bush to me.

You mean contact - as in ET?

I think RB got hit like nobody in years against the Eagles and played within a few snaps.

I don't google, so save me any dorky trivialities.

i have been listening to predictions all morning, my head is spinning.

He does.

Not like Reggie Bush, though. At least Bush has good vision and can fake a defender out, McFadden is just able to outrun people. He'll be a bust.

there's no one else in the top 8 that are in need of a QB. I think it's a perfect fit for them. Well provided that he isn't another Kyle Boller.

predict McFadden will go to the Cowboys and he will suck equally as much as Pacman Jones.
He won't drop that far. He's got too much speed.
That pacman trade just further reinforces the fact that I made the right move...

McFadden also folded a lot on first contact during this past season due in large part to the fact that he knew he would be coming out in the draft. He was much more, for lack of a better word "tough" during his sophomore campaign. He definitely has a lot of work to do at the next level, but he has the kind of speed that you can't teach. Which is why the Jets make a lot of sense for him. He won't have to be the every down back. He can take that Reggie Bush role and be the homerun hitter. Lets not forget that he racked up 255 all purpose yards against the national champion LSU tigers.
