A true libertarian HAS to be pro-life on the aborticide question. The only legitimate functions of government in libertarianism are to protect the individual from violence and to protect property. To not protect the unborn from the ultimate violence of being slaughtered is not compatible with libertarianism.

The pro-abortion "libertarians" have given the philosophy a bad name with their hypocrisy over recent years. They are not libertarians, for they seek to take the liberty from the most defenseless among us, the unborn.

What cracks me up is how "pro choice" is about control of your body but many of these same women call men cowards for wanting to wrest control of their own body from Selective Service, which puts their body under the whim of the Government to send them abroad as slaves for far longer than 9 months, at far greater risk to their lives.

And yet it's the left that for decades has been accused of failing to see that, at the end of the line, there are some things that are absolutely right and wrong, irrespective of cultural context. Ironic.

I believe, on the other hand, that parsimony is an absolute catagorically correct principle to apply to governmental powers. The social compact utterly ought not give to the collective organization any powers over the individual beyond what are completely neccessary to oversee its neccessary functions. Let's say that some interpretations of the Document claim it is a right, as in sovereignty over one's own body.

Seems to be a major discrepency between that and things like assisted suicide, which is illegal , (and has been upheld as illegal) by the same Court.

So, the USSC needs to make up it's mind on the right of personal sovereignty.

They say "abortion is a right throughout the USA, but assisted suicide is not".

Seems just a tad bit hypocritical. Either every individual has a right over their own body, or they do not. No?
