"Cunt" seems to be one of those words you just don't say.

Yet a woman sent an e-message to me today saying "... ram your cock into my cunt ..."

I love a woman to feel able to say that, but just how acceptable / inacceptable is the word "cunt"?

Honestly - I think it depends on the context. I'm not bothered at all when I hear someone use it as an alternative term for a woman's vagina. I have more of a problem with it when I hear something such as "She's such a cunt". IMO - it then becomes a pejorative (which it's obviously meant to be).

Just my 2 cents.

Interesting that you should ask that question from the UK. My correspondents from that region seem to use it frequently, in the same context that a US speaker would call someone an "asshole." I had assumed it was a pretty acceptable, but strong, insult.

But no one's neally fussed when they hear "(s)he's such a dick / cock / knob / prick." Come to that, there's not much fuss about "(s)he's such a twat / fanny / pussy."

Why "cunt"?

And I applaud your stance on using it to refer to genitalia, but for a lot of people (esp women) the word still seems to be taboo.

In the UK, you don't get much stronger than calling someone a cunt. It's quite possible that it would preceede a punch being thrown.

I can only speak for myself, but when I hear the following terms used in a derisive manner, here is what association comes to mind:

*Prick/dick(usually aimed at a male) - descriptive of behavior : boorish, loutish, rude. Knob is not a commonly used term in the US and I haven't really heard cock used except as an alternative term for a penis.

*Pussy (again, usually aimed at a male) - descriptive of character : weak, feminine, lacking in courage or strength. In the US, fanny is a very mild term that refers to one's bum. Here, we don't even bat an eye over that. I don't think I've ever heard the term twat used in any manner other than to refer to a woman's genitals.

*Cunt (usually aimed at a woman) - descriptive of / a rejection of the total person: vile, repulsive, loathsome, foul

How I came to associate these terms with the word cunt, I have no idea - but I think it's very common. I'd venture to say that cunt is pretty much the strongest insult you could hurl at someone (and as you mentioned to Carnevil9 , you'd better be prepared to duck).

IMO- both the intent of the user and the perception of the receiver are key as to whether or not offense is taken.

For me it depends wholly on the situation and context.

I travel by train and bus a lot and often hear teenagers using the word 'cunt' as an expletive or insult with childishly gleeful abandon. That to me is unacceptable because they are in a public environment where children and the elderly/sensitive minded will hear them. It's false bravado and therefore cowardly and a symptom of their inability to articulate.

In an adult environment such as a bar I'm less likely to be offended or scandalised but at the same time, I think it needless and usually a clumsy attempt at provoking a reaction (albeit a punch in the face.)

OTOH...

When Master refers to my cunt or calls me a cunt it's possessive, testosterone fuelled and loaded with intent. It reminds me of the place I have chosen in his life and of his right to use both me and my cunt as he pleases. The suggestion of abjection pushes my slave buttons like few other words do these days. I know that he loves and respects me but I also know that when he uses the word, at that particular moment I am no more or less than his cunt. I exist to sate his lust and am reduced to a series of sexual services and orifices. I'm a kinky bitch by nature so it's fine with me.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I guess my UK friends are just ruder than I thought!

You know, I've gone back and forth on this word and its use in my writing. There are just some situations where using "cunt" sounds more right than other colloquialism for vagina. To me there is a certain power to the word, it's strong and fierce, perfect for those situations where the female character is in the dominant role.

It's interesting that my view contrasts directly with VelvetDarkness' view. This tells me that it truly is all about the usage, or perhaps the way the word has been used in our society and the added baggage it has taken on. In many ways the same thing goes for the word "fuck".

It's sad that a word which could be used to empower is used to destroy. Another perversion of words? I think so.

cunt...cont'd

I love it!!!-as a matter of fact, the cunt's words make me frenzied in male excitement and arousal! She is to sate my lust! (I crave the woman!). She is reduced to a series of sexual services and orifices (Oh, my god!!!!). The cunt makes me cum, and we are strangers to each other, but cum I will, throbbing, pulsating, massively hard and thick, powerful, hard, shooting, landing, on her tits, her face, her cunt, warm, wet, white hot male sperm jisz-I am hers!!!

And thus a word of power is reduced to one of ridicule. I dare say that while she may let her Master call har a cunt, you are not to be afforded that privilege.

Not sure ridicule is the right word ... eg in the throws of passion ...
"Fuck my cunt hard."
"Your cunt feels amazing."
"I want to taste your gorgeus cunt."
"Worship my cunt, slave!"

I love it love it love it. What a fantastic, powerful, sexy word.

Aimmouse - May I politely point out that Velvet is in submission to her Master - not to Pete. While her Master may call her "cunt" - Pete has not earned that right thus he is out of line in doing so.

Talking dirty is always a turn on for us. I wouldn't like being called a cunt, but often say to a guy or woman eat my cunt' or 'fuck my cunt' or 'wow you have a beautiful cunt', but then i call a woman in bed with me a whore and like being called the same by a guy or woman. And 'stick your big fat cock in my juicy cunt' is sure to drive most guys to an explosive climax.

I agree with Linda. I love to hear a woman talk dirty while we are having sex. In fact the words spoken in the right way are enough to make me explode. It just goes to prove that sex is "mental" as well as physical. Maybe the turn-on is down to being a "lady" in public and a "whore" in the bedroom - most mens' ideal woman.

I've found the word to be considered 'negative' more often than not in the States. Living in London for several years, I found it's used more frequently and in various connotations, and so it doesn't have the same 'strong' meaning or invoke the same reactions as it would (and appears to) in the states.

I'm reminded of the concerns of James McAvoy and Keira Knightley regarding the word being merely seen several times and said only once in the movie Atonement, and how it would fair in the states in terms of audience reaction. They both mentioned the word was seen as 'stingy' in the States but not somewhere like England, and sheeven confessed to using the word quite often, and so she as a woman, could care less. However, it was used in a 'sexual' manner rather than as a derogative term.

location location location? Perhaps.
