...and I'm becoming increasingly convinced that neither Obama or Clinton have the experience necessary to be President.

Oh, and neither has a hope in hell of being an effective C-in-C.

yeah, none of them have the experience and common sense that... w.... had..

holy shit, sorry, i couldn't type that without laughing....

hold on.....

wow.

No one has the experience needed to be president. There is nothing that can prepare one for that job. Never trust anyone who wants it.

That's silly.

Everyone who succeeds grows into the job. And you need the balls to want it to do it.

So no one who has been President has ever had strong domestic or foreign policy experience prior to becoming President?

The great thing about our system is that you just have to be better than the alternative. That describes most of our presidents.

In this election's case, as with recent ones, I'm struggling to find that best alternative given that they're all so mediocre.

James Buchanan had extensive domestic and international experience and is pretty widely regarded as being one of our worst presidents.

Experience doesn't ensure success, but it does lay the foundation for its possibility. Lack of experience ensures only indecisiveness.

It doesn't automatically ensure indecisiveness, nor does it ensure lack of conviction. All you can be sure of is that the situation is new.

Do you freeze up every time you're confonted with something new? Of course not.

Fucking Giants.

Any Vice President would have had access to considerable information in these areas, though clearly not the same as "experience" being head of state or commander in chief. Some VPs have also had strong portfolios of other experience, e.g. John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, more recently Bush I. Governors have had a good run..the whole executive branch experience thing. Interesting to see how a Senator will do in the oval office this go round.

I'll let you know the next time I have to run a country.

I disagree. Experience is a pretty broad category. What specific experience do you think they lack and why do you think it is necessary?
