I think most people are familiar with the quote from Shakespeare, "Nothing ever is but thinking makes it so." I've always believed that but what I've learned recently has taken it to a whole new level. It's not only about what you are feeling at the moment, but the idea that what you are thinking is creating what you will get in the future.
I've been seeing a lot of posts by people focusing on what they don't want in their life, or what they lack. I was doing the same thing until recently, and was I ever depressed! Yikes. The funny thing is, it didn't take much to turn it around.
I started paying attention to the negative things I said to myself a hundred times a day and stopped myself every time I found one. Then I turned it into a positive statement.
Think about this for a minute.
"If we were to take a three-year-old child and put him in the middle of the room, and you and I were to start yelling at the child, telling him how stupid he was, how he could never do anything right, how he should do this, and shouldn't do that, and look at the mess he made, and maybe hit him a few times, we would end up with a frightened little child that either sits docily in the corner, or who tears up the place. The child will go one of these two ways, but we will never know the potential of the child.
If we take the same little child and tell him how much we love him, how much we care, that we love the way he looks and love how bright and clever he is, that we love the way he does things and that it's okay for him to make mistakes as he learns - and that we will always be there for him no matter what - then the potential that comes out of that child will blow your mind!
Each one of us has a three-year-old child within us, and we often spend most of our time yelling at that kid in ourselves. Then we wonder why our lives don't work."

The Law of Attraction basically states that whatever you focus on, you get more of in your life. Where you put your thoughts is creating your future. So, if you focus on the negatives, you get more of that. If you focus on the positives, you'll get more of that. "It's only a thought and a thought can be changed." ~ Louise Hay
Another book on the topic.
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
I'm not loving this book. It's a little repetitive and annoying with the "secret" talk, but it does have some good points of information.
"Thoughts are magnetic, and thoughts have a frequency. As you think thoughts, they are sent out into the Universe, and they magnetically attract all like things that are on the same frequency."
"You are like a human transmission tower, transmitting a frequency with your thoughts. If you want to change anything in your life, change the frequency by changing your thoughts."
"Your current thoughts are creating your future life. What you think about the most or focus on the most will appear as your life."
What it boils down to is this...
Focus on the positive in your life, you'll be a hell of a lot happier.
Stop thinking about what you don't want in your life and think about what you do want, it'll help bring it into being. If you want health, wealth, prosperity, wonderful relationships... concentrate on picturing those things for yourself instead of focusing on your current lack of any of them.
If you're already unhappy, why not give it a try? What could it hurt?
