Normally it would be about a week (see the FAQs). Stories start going up tomorrow on a periodic contest, though, and these stories will be given priority posting. So, think more in terms of up to two weeks for a noncontest story to post.

Probably a week or ten days. The Valentine's Day contest starts tomorrow and that may make it even a few days longer as contest stories get precedence.

Welcome to the madhouse by the way.

Hi there, welcome!

Just wanted to add that if you actually click on the 'pending' line on your submissions page it sends your story to the bottom of the queue again--so don't :)

Generally it can take anything from 4 days to 2 weeks depending on how many stories have been submitted recently and whether there's a contest on (which there is right now). Also, the format in which you submit can also make a difference. Copying and pasting into the box on the submissions page tends to be the quickest way.

Come back here and post a link to it when it's up, okay? :D

Sorry, you can't do that. There is a two story limit on Lit. :D

I'm kidding you there but don't quit with just one. Writing is a learned experience if you are any kind of a story teller at all. I'm the best worse example of that I know. The only way to learn is to do it. Find someone to proofread for you and read it out loud to yourself or a friend. You catch a lot of errors and flow problems that way.

Writing is like Pringles, ya can't just eat one or do just one either.

Actually those are Lay's I think, or Jay's, could never get it right.

I do like the connotation in Lay's though.

You're right, everyone knows that. Duh!

I can only blame it on someone in the "Blurt" thread that declared their love for Pringles. I had them on the brain. Damn that oldtimers disease!

What has been said about the time from submission to post is more or less correct. The time will be a bit longer anytime there is a contest going on.

However, what has not been mentioned is the fact that you have asked THE QUESION. That changes everything. It is a well-known tradition on Lit that THE QUESION envokes a special routine to have your story posted with additional requirements.

These are:

1. A copy of a photo ID and three noterized letters from people who know you well, stating that you did, in fact, write the story without help from anyone.

2. Copies of you last five years Federal Income Taxes.

3. A written statement detailing all your children, husband, ex-husbands, brothers, sisters, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. This statement must contain their ages, relationship, addresses, home and cell phone numbers, as well as their email addresses. This statement should be addressed to the Post Question Review Committee for their perusual and investigation.

4. A check (also known as The Bribe ) in the amount of $100.00 made to the order of Jenny Jackson who will act as go-between for you to get your story posted as quickly as possible.

5. Your story will be placed in the Special Review section where it will be read, reviewed, commented and finally posted.

With any luck, you can expect to see your story in print sometime in early 2012. :)

Yes, it was left unsaid. And it was left well unsaid. Your little bashing game of the newbies is tiresome. (At least your spelling was reasonably good for a change.)

Well, welcome ^^ I look forward to checking out your first story

(Psst. I'm new too. Don't let these guys scare ya <.<)

All Hail the Lit Moalist. (He's done everything, you know ;) )

Luv Ya, Jenny.
These are all good tips to get your story posted. Learn from her experience.
Now, how do we be sure it is not posted on "Black Monday" when it will get the least reads?:)
AND, be sure it's posted before Dec21, 2012, because the world is ending that day.
AND, Innocent, be glad you posted your question here where you get serious help, instead of the GB.
And, put a link to your stories in your sig line to make them easier to find, please. Good luck.

Mathgirl was the grandmaster at answering the question. I could never compete with her.

This is not basing, but parody and humor. Anyone who's been around Lit for more than a few months (no names mentioned) would know that. The question is a kind of "right of passage" for all the newbies, even if it does drive us nuts. :D

Yeah and I'd never think of doing the same thing. Not me. I guess I had the bribe amount wrong though. Told someone a few weeks back it was 29.95 or something.

The one thing you should add Jenny, is that the asker of THE QUESTION, has to give SR's email addy to at least ten known spam companies.

:rose: one of these days, I just know your AV is going to turn towards me, smile and flash me. I just know it!

The point is that this bashing (or "basing," as you spell it) is not done to anyone who has been around for a few months. It's done to posters who are just checking in for a quick answer because they didn't think to look at the FAQs (which only recently were anywhere close to accurate anyway)--which is a natural thing to do. You aren't the one who gets to decide it's parody and not bashing--the one you are doing it to is the one. And you've gotten bitten back often enough that you would have gotten the clue that it's just a nasty example of "we/they" cyber bullying and exhibits a false sense of superiority if you were ever going to get the clue.

I wasn't even the first poster on this sub forum yesterday who called you on your bitchy bashing behavior.

And I wouldn't put it past several of you here to do just as mjl2010 suggests below--because your behavior on the forum shows you are just that petty and nasty.

hmmm...just like it'd take someone rather mean-spirited to keep pointing out another's spelling mistakes, and making fun of them.

If you want to hold everyone to that type of high standard, you should look to your own behavior first, or else be labeled a hypocrite.
